In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Phyllis confronts Diane, Jack and Traci wonder how to handle things, and Victor is impressed by Adam’s work. In the previous episode, Ashland agreed to annul his marriage for 500 million dollars and got Victoria on board.

When Adam arrives in his office at Newman-Locke, he finds his father waiting. He tells him that Ashland agreed to his offer. “Hmm,” Victor says. Locke also agreed to the annulment and is on his way there to sign the agreement.
Adam says Locke will soon be out of their lives and this is the best possible outcome. Victor still doesn’t like how he handled this but his son insists this was the cleanest and best way.
Victor accuses him of doing this just to prove he’s smarter and more capable than his sister. His son admits that he thinks he’s a better leader than his sister. But he did this because it was the best option. He won’t deny that he’s glad his father is (marginally) pleased.
After recalling teaching him soccer in Kansas, Victor admits he does impress him… but he’s cost him a lot of money. Adam says they need to wait until everything is signed and sealed.
In her office, Ashland confirms to Victoria that he is really agreeing to her family’s 500 million reasons to walk away, as long as she assures him that she is willing to walk away from her family and build a future with him somewhere else.
The farther away the better sounds good to her. She wants a fresh start. “What about your children?” he asks. Locke doesn’t want her to have any regrets. She needs to think about how Billy will regret and he will try to keep her from her kids.
Victoria thinks that she can reason with her ex. He usually does the right thing. They’ll just have to come up with an arrangement. Locke’s not sure that’s possible. Billy is vindictive.
She thinks he’ll just be happy she is walking away from her father. Ashland asks again if she’s willing to take this risk. Victoria thinks he’s wrong. Billy just wants her to have the peace he could never give her. When he looks into her eyes, he will see how much she loves Ashland.
“I’m ready,” she tells him, pulling him into a kiss. Almost weeping in joy, he asks her where she wants to go. She immediately says Tuscany and encourages him to finish the deal.
Ashland promises they will start their new life together when he gets back. As soon as he walks out, her smile drops.
Ashland joins Victor and Adam, eager to sign the document. He congratulates them on their unreadable faces but is sure they are salivating inside, hardly able to believe he is making this so easy.
Adam says they will do their part as soon as he signs. Victor holds up his phone and says the money is ready for transfer. Ashland signs and Victor transfer the funds. “Don’t assume I’m out of your entire family’s lives,” he adds.
Victor lectures him, accusing him of being sick for taking advantage of his family. Locke admires his devotion to his family and adds that his love for Victoria has not changed. No matter what, he should be proud of his daughter.
“Get him the hell out of here,” Victor says. Once Locke is gone, Adam tells his father they shouldn’t waste anymore brain space on this.
Nikki drops by her daughter’s office and asks if Ashland really agreed to the settlement. Victoria confirms it and adds that she had to agree to his request to run away with him if he did. Her mother assumes this was a ploy on her part.
“Please don’t tell me you want to stay with him,” Nikki begs. Her daughter weeps. Her mom knows that Locke still has a hold on her heart. Victoria knows she shouldn’t be so conflicted but she is.
She hates what he has done to her and her family but she’s also grieving the loss of her marriage and of the man she thought was her soulmate. It was only possible to pull off her performance because those feelings are still there to draw from.
In her heart and mind, she still hasn’t reconciled herself to any of this. His love for her seemed so powerful and real. Could it really have been fake? “Yes! He is a sociopath,” her mom says. They all thought this was genuine and none of it is her fault.
Crying, Victoria doesn’t know what to do with the love in her heart. Her mom assures her that it will fade, she will heal, and her family will help her through it.
When she’s alone, excited Locke jogs in and asks if she’s ready to go. He’s surprised when she asks him if he really believed this wasn’t the absolute end for them.

As Diane unpacks her stuff at the Grand Phoenix, Phyllis shows up at the door and demands she let her in. Reluctantly, Diane does. She admits she knew this was her hotel and has been following everyone’s lives since she left Genoa City.
Diane doles out compliments until Phyllis stops her and warns that hell will start raining down if anyone knows she is there. Diane just wants to be prepared. The redhead asks how she thinks things will play out.
Phyllis warns her not to get too comfortable. Jack is probably betting Kyle won’t want anything to do with her. If he does, she doesn’t want their reunion to happen in her hotel. She’s not going to throw her out because she’d rather take her money than let her play the victim.
Diane admires her skills at hospitality and assures her she will behave. Phyllis tells her that if people learn she had the audacity to return, things will get ugly fast.
When Diane complains about how hard it is to be back, Phyllis laughs, knowing she doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Sitting down, Diane explains how she became a realtor and made her way.
Phyllis is sure she spent years scheming this return and jumped on taking advantage of Allie, capitalizing on her grief and confusion. Diane accuses her of twisting things. “I don’t trust a word that comes out of your mouth,” Phyllis says.
At the Abbot estate, Jack gets off the phone with Kyle and informs Traci that he and Harrison will be flying in next week. He’s excited to see him but not looking forward to blindsiding him with the news his other is alive.
Traci wonders why Diane revealed herself now. Her brother is sure she must have a plan and he’s determined to find out what it is. Sitting down, he tells her that he’s been digging into Diane’s life.
She went back to being an architect but that didn’t work well since she had no reputation so she became a realtor. Diane did okay at that. Jack worries that she will try to convince Kyle to support her.
Traci thinks they should just focus on the positive. When he mentions he wants Allie to meet the whole family, she asks if that’s a good idea given Diane is on the loose. He says Allie has already been warned about Diane.
Traci worries that the situation could be too volatile for easing Allie into the family. He agrees.
Phyllis shows up with lousy news. Diane is at her hotel. Jack isn’t surprised by this stunt. Reluctantly, Phyllis admits that she tried to bait Diane but she has put on one of the best sincere acts she’s ever seen.
Jack worries about how to keep Diane away from his son until he can talk to him. She assures him that she will take care of it. He thanks her for being there for him so consistently.
Phyllis is happy to do it. This is also to protect her daughter. “This is personal for me,” she says.
Back in her room, Diane paces and reads the latest news about Newman-Locke and chuckles. This gets depressing. She asks herself if coming back was a mistake and wishes she’d thought this through.
Jack shows up and demands to know what she thinks she’s doing.
