In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Jack’s bid to buy Stark off fails, Tucker urges Ashley to leave the past behind, and Lily refuses to discuss family business with Nate. In the previous episode, Sally and Lauren buried the hatchet, Stark frightened Diane, and Victor warned Nikki that Stark is dangerous.

Jack walks in on Stark with Diane in Jabot and demands to know what is going on.
He reminds Stark that this is his place of work and he’s not welcome there.
Jack threatens to call security.
Jeremy isn’t terribly impressed and breaks out the sarcasm.
Jack still doesn’t want him hanging around.
Diane says he’s under the false impression she worked with the authorities to put him away.
Sitting on the desk, Stark dismisses this and insists he has no animosity. He protected her from the FBI after all.
But there remains a financial situation to discuss…
Jack asks how much it will cost to make him leave Diane alone.
Turning this down, Stark suggests that he and “Di” can sort out a payment plan.
The Abbott orders him out and Jeremy goes, leaving Diane to sigh and worry that all his smiling makes her believe she’s in serious danger.
Jack agrees. Clearly, Stark is out to settle a score that has to do with more than money.
He assumes that Stark must be violating his parole. She suggests they just stick to the story of her having nothing to do with him getting caught.
Jack suggests she talk to the Feds about going into protection but she refuses to leave her family behind.
They worry about her safety. He doesn’t know what to do since money didn’t work.
Ashley joins Tucker for lunch at Society and warns him she might not be great company today.
She fills him in on Jack and Kyle being angry at her for bringing Stark to town.
He warns that she’s in over her head with this Stark business and advises it would be wise to distance herself from Nikki and Phyllis.
McCall concedes that he’s changed his mind and the conspiracy against Diane is “a bit heavy-handed.” He suspects she still resents on him cheating on her with Diane.
Tucker insists that was all his fault.
“Are you for real?” she asks.
He knows she could never stand Diane but he gets where she’s coming from. That doesn’t change Stark being trouble.
Once again, he urges her to distance herself from Nikki and Phyllis.
She admits things have gotten out of hand but she still has no sympathy for Diane. She lists her numerous objections to Jenkins.
He suggests she stop letting the painful past dictate the future.
She points out it’s his past actions that he wants her to let go of.
Tucker loves how well she sees him. He recalls her telling him love isn’t enough. But people evolve and can develop a deeper understanding.
Aren’t they wise enough now to realize what they lost? Can’t she imagine how much better it would be if she gave them another chance?
She hasn’t seen much evidence he’s changed but she appreciates his persistence and insight into her anger.
Tucker tells her they are meant to be. She takes off.
Diane and Jack return to the Abbott estate. She tells him her plan of hiding out at the cabin so Stark will think she’s disappeared.
After that, maybe Phyllis and the others will leave her alone.
She suggests that Phyllis is the one who called Stark and recognized her voice when he met her.
She’s eager to put their plan in motion.
He holds her and promises that nothing will happen to her.
Ashley arrives, spots this, and is appalled.
Once they spot her, Diane leaves for the hotel to pack her things with a security escort.
She puts on a show for Ashley and takes off.
Jack tells his sister that Diane is leaving town thanks to her and her friends.
After he lectures her for being a “mean girl” who drove Diane out of town, he tells her she’s gone much too far.

At the Chancellor estate, Chance watches as Abby fusses over Dom.
He announces he’s packed the last of his things.
She hands over the kid and Chance tells him he loves him and will be back.
Abby wanders into the corner sobbing.
Chance tells Dom that parents live in different houses sometimes and that means they will get more one-on-one time.
He hugs him and tells him how lucky he is.
After the nanny takes Dom to the park, Abby clings to a stuffed duck.
Chance announces he’s going and they discuss visitation. He promises to make spending time with him a priority.
As he walks out, she tells him how sorry she is and asks if he can believe that.
He’s sorry too and doesn’t think one person is at fault. What happened was the accumulation of a lot of things.
They got married too fast, tried having a child too fast, and he took off too early.
They are just too different people with different needs and they can’t make each other happy.
“We have been doomed since the beginning,” he says.
Sniffling, she tells him that diminishes all they had and the love they have for each other.
He’s disconnected from all those feelings. He’s accepted it’s over and hopes they can just move on.
Chance walks out. She sits and weeps.
Lily stares into space at Society until she spots Nate.
He thanks her for allowing Elena to move back to Newman Media. Lily wasn’t going to force her to stay.
She tells him Devon is angry. She’s angry, hurt, and confused about his betrayal.
Sitting down, he apologizes and hopes one day they can come together as a family.
She says trust is everything when it comes to family.
He’s sure she realizes that Devon played a role in what happened.
Lily wants to get past this but warns him not to push her.
Nate asks what else is going on with Devon and brings up Amanda.
She tells him that’s a family issue and none of his concern.
When Devon arrives, he snubs Nate and heads to a table with Lily.
She explains that Jill wants to move forward with the IPO.
Does he still think Tucker is up to something?
He doesn’t know his intentions for sure so he’s going to suspect that he’s a threat. Devon needs more time to figure it out.
She tells him Nate wants to earn their forgiveness. He’s not ready to move on.
Lily asks if Nate betraying them is any worse than how he betrayed Amanda.
Offended, he insists that was completely different. He says that Nate planned what he did and doesn’t seem to regret it.
When he spots Abby looking miserable, he follows her.
Sobbing, she tells him that Chance packed his things and it’s really over. They hug.
Diane bumps into Diane in the hallway of the Grand Phoenix. She tells him she’s leaving because of Stark.
He feels for her. When he offers her money, she slaps him.
She warns that he’s deluded and will crash and burn.
Whatever his plans for Ashley are, they will fail.
After threatening to rat him out to Devon, she storms off.
As Diane packs her stuff, she stops to look at a photo and takes a deep breath.
Chance goes to Crimson Lights. Sharon says he looks like he did after Rey died.
He explains his marriage is over and he just moved out.
She knows how hard that can be.
He explains how sad he is to know that his life won’t revolve around his family anymore.
He’s also relieved that he no longer has to make something untrue seem possible.
She offers to talk about this but it still feels too fresh for him.

Sensing that this is a touchy subject, Nate asks Devon, “What in the world could go have done to upset Amanda so much?”
“That’s nice of you to say but he both know it’s not true,” Chelsea tells Billy as they discuss her problems.
“If I were to propose to you that you quit the family business and let me help you start your own empire, what would you say to that?” Tucker asks Ashley.
