In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Victor chastises Adam for going rogue, Victoria insists she’s not falling for Locke’s manipulations, and Ashland tells Victoria that if he was in her shoes, he’d forgive her for lying about having cancer. In the previous episode, Locke tattled on Adam and asked Victoria if she wants him to take the money and run.

Sally strolls into Adam’s office. They discuss the pitch and Adam isn’t sure if his offer will be accepted or rejected by Locke. Adam thinks the deal is his best offer. Sally would take the offer. She thinks Locke’s toying with him.
Adam worries that he went rogue and wonders what he was thinking. Sally believes he was thinking like a leader and tells him to let it go. If it doesn’t work, he’ll come up with something else.
She calls him brilliant and relentless, which she finds sexy as hell. It’s why they get along so well, he tells her. They kiss.
In her office, Victoria tells her dad she’s offended that he went behind her back and made Ashland an offer. Nikki thinks he should admit to his lies and leave by his own volition.
Ashland tells Victor he’ll meet him at the Grand Phoenix to discuss his terms. He leaves and sighs once outside the door, head in hands. Back inside, Victoria asks what’s going on. Why did they do this?
Victor comes clean. Adam went rogue. Victor didn’t authorize this, but he won’t contradict him to Ashland. They need to remain a united front. He found Ashland to be interested in the offer. Victoria thinks he was testing them.
Nikki thinks Ash was testing Victoria. Victoria denies that. Victor knows he’ll try to drive a wedge between her and her family. Victoria won’t give up and she’s not going to offer him money.
She asks how much money he was offered and is shocked to learn it was 500 million dollars. She barks that she warned Adam would do this. She blames her dad. She y ells that he should have put a stop to it.
Nikki says there’s still nothing stopping her from sticking to her plan. Victoria knows he won’t take the money. “Why, because he’s eternally in love with you?”
Victoria says she won’t fall for his lies again. He’d never accept a bribe. Nikki asks then why he agreed to accept Adam’s offer. She thinks it’s part of his plan. She takes off, angry.

At Crimson Lights, Nick listens as Sharon admits she engaged with Ashland while he was there. There were witnesses and then Adam came in. She says she didn’t get involved, and they were too far away for her to overhear.
Their discussion seemed serious. Like their lives depended on it. They ponder what it could be and Sharon’s surprised Adam’s the CEO of Newman-Locke. They talk about the plan and how it sounds self-serving, like the old Adam.
Nick talks about how distant Victoria’s been and that he doesn’t think Ashland is buying any of this. Sharon thinks she feels used and exposed. Nick says she’s still in love with him.
He’s concerned about what that means. It could cause an irreparable rift in the family. Nikki strolls in and as Sharon gets coffee for her, Nikki fills him in on his lies about the millions he offered to walk away from his contract and Victoria.
Nick sighs. She tells him Locke went to his father and lets him know everything that went down. He says that money was the same he and Victoria won in their lawsuit against Dad. Nick guesses his motivation was to impress Dad.
Nikki agrees but Victoria’s furious. Nick thinks she should be. Adam should have come to them. Nikki’s not sure he knows how to be a team player.
She goes and Nick finds Sharon and fills her in on the bribe. “Should I act surprised?” She asks.
Nick’s furious and wants to go after him but Sharon stops him. It’s no different than what Adam did and will show Victoria that he doesn’t trust her. Nick counters that it’ll make him feel better. “This isn’t about you,” she says.
Victor walks in on Sally and Adam making out in his office. “Son, we have some very serious business to discuss,” he says, ignoring the kiss. The two part and Adam insists Sally stick around.
Victor questions his son for going rogue. Adam’s annoyed that Locke ran to his father. Victor says the man knew Adam was lying that he had the backing of his family. Adam asks if he made the deal.
Victor counters that and asks where he’ll find the money. Adam says that Victoria’s the one who brought Ashland into the family. She should be responsible for getting him out.
Victor finds the lack of sympathy appealing. “We don’t do this!” He barks. He thinks this was Sally’s idea but Adam calls it his. Sally admits she liked the idea.
Adam explains himself and Victor starts yelling that what he did was wrong.
Adam asks what he was supposed to do. Sally asks what happened with the offer and when Victor is silent, Adam realizes he didn’t accept it. Adam made a judgment call but understands his father didn’t want that.
He should have come to him first. He wasn’t trying to get away with anything. Victor tells him never to make a deal without him knowing again. He admits Locke’s at Grand Phoenix waiting for him.
What if Locke pretends to agree to take the money? Adam isn’t asking his dad to trust Locke, but he’ll insist on him signing an iron clad agreement. Again, Vic asks where Adam will get the cash. Adam thinks Victor should pay for it.
Victor finally agrees to dole out the cash if Ashland takes his offer.
Victoria finds Locke at the Grand Phoenix. She says they need to talk but he wants to do it in private. She gets them a suite. They head up and Ashland tells her Adam will take his place once he leaves.
She asks if he’s really leaving. He tells her he’s done. He’s tired and discouraged, she realizes. She asks him to fight this. Ashland knows she wants him to plant evidence on Adam.
He also doesn’t think they can have the life they wanted. He can still be the man he promised her he would be on their day of their marriage. He wants her love and respect. If he sets Adam up, he’ll lose it. Lies beget lies.
She snaps. “But it all has been lies, hasn’t it? From the very beginning.” She realizes love is blind. Her eyes are opened — by him.
He’s a fighter who never shows mercy. There’s no way he’d let someone set him up. She knows he was lying about cancer and set them all up, after she gave him her heart and trust. He owes her the truth.
He tells her she’s right. He’s a fighter, but he’s changed what he’s fighting for. She’s confused. He knows she won’t believe anything he has to say. He admits he doesn’t believe her either.
She acts tough but he knows what’s going on inside. If the situation was reversed, he’d be livid if he learned she betrayed him, but it’d be impossible for him to stop loving her.
He calls what they have something real, true and strong. A love as strong as theirs can’t be an act. He’d forgive her without hesitation because he loves her.
He proposes that she think of the life they can have together. He calls the love they’ve found together perfect and knows she wants it as much as he does.
