Mariah Unleashes Her Fury on Adam, Then Hums a Lullaby to Dominic as Abby Watches, Stunned

Soaps Spoilers has the Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for the Monday, September 6, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Tuesday, September 7. In the previous episode, Victor has Nick acting as a double agent with him and Billy. In this episode, Mariah’s overwhelmed by her feelings for the baby, Devon gives Abby advice, and Adam has it out with Rey over his jealousy.

Mariah and Tessa arrive at Crimson Lights for coffee. Tessa tells Sharon that Abby went all out for the baby’s homecoming, while Mariah stares at a woman with a baby. She drinks her coffee, glad that it’s tasting the same way it always has. Sharon asks what happened moments ago. Mariah shrugs it off. She spaced out. Sharon urges her kid to open up so Mariah admits she’s struggling to get on top of her emotions. She talks about her time in the room, that it was her job to keep the baby safe. He was her reason for living. Giving birth under extreme circumstances was intense and urgent, she tells Sharon and Tessa. After everything, “Bowie…Dominic goes home with his mother.” Sharon knows her daughter bonded with the baby and now she feels as though something has been taken from her. Mariah says there’s a bond but she knows he’s not her baby. Tessa thinks it’s okay to feel a bond. Sharon agrees, but Mariah doesn’t know what to do with her feelings. Sharon thinks she’ll always have that bond. She tears up and thinks Mariah can use Bowie as a cute nickname forever. Tessa smiles, admitting she thinks it’s the cutest. Sharon tries to convince her kid to go talk to Abby about the bond. “She’ll be very supportive. She’s your friend. She wants what’s best for you.” Mariah thanks her for the best advice.

At the mansion, Abby tells Devon the baby’s napping. She’s about to break in her new baby monitor. He thinks everyone had fun at the party, but Abby’s not so sure Mariah did. She worries she’s going through a hard time and that Devon is as well. Devon tells her he’s trying to find the right way to support her as a new mom. She’ll have to be a parent without her partner. Abby argues that women have been single parents for decades. Devon doesn’t want to be over too often or leave her hanging. Abby reminds him he’s her BFF and she hopes their friendship doesn’t change. Abby says Mariah seems to be pretending to be okay when she’s not. She’s a strong woman, but what she went through would test anyone. Devon thinks she felt as though it was her and the baby against the world. “And then she had to hand him over to me,” Abby says. It was probably overwhelming for her. Later, Devon gets a call from Christine. He tells Abby that Chance is forced to go even deeper under cover and she hasn’t been able to get any messages to him. Abby says this isn’t what they wanted to hear, “But things change so quickly.” She’s trying to be patient, but Chance deserves to know his son was born and the baby deserves to know his father. Devon reminds her that her husband wants that more than anything. Devon suggests this is a good thing. Knowing this could distract him and take his head out of the game, making his situation more dangerous. Devon doesn’t want him to feel any more guilty than he already does not being here. “You always know what to say,” Abby says with a nod.

Rey appears at Adam’s. “Okay, what are you going to try to arrest me for this time?” He asks. Rey brought him Connor’s ball cap that he forgot. Adam knows the kid would be crushed if he lost it. “I’m sure he’ll want to thank you.” Rey says it’s not a problem. Adam thinks he deserves “props” for finding Mariah. He didn’t know things got “so far off course.” Rey thinks he says that as if he’s part of the inner circle. Rey asks who he wanted to hear about, Sharon or Mariah? Adam’s tired of Rey’s constant jealousy. He does care about what happens to Sharon’s daughter. Should he disregard that? Rey argues that it’s not what he’s saying. Adam calls Sharon the most decent, loving person he knows and he cares about those she cares for. He tells Rey they can go around in circles about this…”It’s your call.” Rey thinks he should worry about his son. He saw him at the park and the kid seemed confused. Adam tells Rey he has things under control. Rey calls Connor smart. He can sense something is up. He’s not trying to tell Adam what to do but his focus should be on him rather than what’s going on in Sharon’s life.

Faith arrives at Crimson Lights, thrilled to see Mariah. Mariah gets up and goes in for a hug. Tessa and Sharon leave them alone. Faith asks if she’s okay. She knows their parents kept things from her and asks what happened to her. Mariah suggests a girls’ night soon and all will be revealed. It’s too fresh right now. Talk turns to Moses and how Faith seems much more positive. Later, Mariah and Sharon watch Tessa on a call nearby, cancelling a gig. Mariah hates that she’s doing this after all the hard work they’ve put in to get her this far. Sharon says she’ll have to get used to her being a little clingy because they spent weeks with her gone. Mariah doesn’t want her mother to feel guilty for not knowing she was taken. “I’ll do my best to stop blaming myself,” Sharon says. When Adam appears and tells Mariah he’s glad to hear she’s okay, Mariah snarks that he’ll have to excuse her since she’s a little tense around people like him right now, but she was just freed from the clutches of a madman who kidnapped her without a care for the lie of an unborn baby because he wanted to win back a certain woman and get her to like him again. Crickets are heard…Adam apologizes and goes to get a coffee while Saron tries to diffuse tension. Tessa reappears. She can’t get out of her gig. Mariah needs to go home and pump for the baby. They go and Sharon asks why Adam’s there. He’s there to get her advice on telling Connor about his separation from his mother. Clearly, it was a mistake. “I should have kept on walking,” he says.

Faith returns to the park and Devon is with Moses. They’re discussing a call they made to tell Moses’ mother about his decision not to become a doctor. His mother didn’t commit to anything, so they’re not sure if he’s sticking around. It’s up to Moses to sell her if he wants to stay. Moses grins widely at Faith. “Yeah, that’s what I want.” Mariah and Tessa catch Devon on his way out. They discuss the party and how it died down after they left. Devon offers a shoulder to lean on for her. Mariah’s grateful. She thanks him for everything he’s done to find her and support her through labor. “Everything’s fine,” she tells him, calling him a hero. Devon argues that he’s really not. They go. Later, Faith suggests they rehearse the call he’ll make to his mother. Moses chuckles. She looks nothing like his mom. She pushes and he does what she wants. He makes a real call to her and they create what the call could go like. Moses tells her about his internship and that there’s one girl…Faith says to tell him all about this girl. Moses bites. He talks about having a great family, smart, beautiful, funny, fun… this goes on for a while. She grins and they make goo-goo eyes at one another as he shares that she’s a reason he can’t go home yet.

At home, Abby snuggles Dominic. She puts him in the crib for a nap and when Mariah arrives home, she sees him alone and talks to him and asks if he missed her. She missed him so much. She hums to him as Abby watches, looking disenchanted.

Rey turns up at Crimson Lights. Sharon tells him all about Adam’s visit and Mariah’s reaction to him. Rey does his pursed lips look, unhappily. He had his own run-in with Adam today. He fills her in on that and Connor’s feelings. He assumes Adam came rushing over there because of their talk. Sharon reveals that he wanted her advice. She really thinks he’s trying to be a better person but is having trouble with it.
