This is the Canadian Y&R day ahead recap from the Monday, May 31, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Tuesday, June 1. In the previous episode, Kyle announced he’s the father before he opened the paternity test results to confirm if Harrison’s was his. In today’s episode, Kyle offers to let Ashland do another DNA test, Billy runs into Nikki, and Tara and Kyle try to figure out how to make their news work for them and their son.
Amanda is excited to hear the band Devon’s considering signing. They talk about listening on the way to Lily and Billy’s but she can’t make it. He’s trying to be supportive.

Billy runs into Nikki at Crimson Lights. He’s moving out of Grand Phoenix. Nikki thinks the kids will enjoy that. She’s surprised Victoria didn’t mention the move. “That’s because she doesn’t know yet,” Billy admits. He tried but she was busy, and now she’s out of town. Nikki thinks he could have called. He’d rather do it in person. Besides, he will also tell her that Lily’s moving in with him. They agree that Victoria will be good with it. He goes.

At the Abbott mansion, Kyle smugly tells Ashland that he’s not Harrison’s father. Kyle is. Tara apologizes to her husband and Jack insists Kyle’s not lying. Kyle opens the DNA results as Summer runs into the mansion. He shows them to Ashland, who frowns. Tara apologizes, but Ashland doesn’t want to hear it. He goes and Kyle asks if Tara’s alright. She’s fine. He asks what they do. She thinks they should tell Harrison, but Jack considers they may want to take their time. Tara doesn’t want to wait for Ashland to paint her as the villain. Summer freaks out that they’re already telling him when they haven’t discussed what will change in his life. Jack asks Summer into the other room and Kyle follows and apologizes that this is happening fast. “You are the only one that I care about,” she says, asking him not to rush into anything. Kyle says he needs to think about what’s best for his son. She agrees. He needs to come first. Summer goes and Tara says she’d like to stay in Genoa City to allow Kyle and Harrison to bond. He smiles. She doesn’t want him to be rushed, but if he wants to be in his son’s life, he has to be all in. “I want to be a real father to my son,” he says. Later, Harrison appears and Tara tells him that she and his daddy aren’t happy together so they’ll stay in Genoa City a while and she’ll make sure he has everything he needs. She talks about there being different types of families and says they’re getting a new person in their family. He has another dad. Kyle. “Two dads?” Harrison asks. Kyle tells him they’ve a lot in common. Baseball, superheroes, Mac and Cheese. She invites him to call Kyle Daddy. Kyle is thrilled.

From Society, Ashland talks to his lawyer about doing his own paternity test. His wife has lied to him too many times for him to trust her. Jack wanders in and Ash disconnects. Jack offers to talk. He doesn’t excuse what Kyle did. His son was reckless. Devon watches as he gets food while Ashland gets upset with Jack. Devon goes as Jack says that tearing a woman away from her children is bad news. He knows from experience.

Billy arrives home and they discuss where she has put away kitchen utensils. She asks him to set up the computer and then starts throwing the popcorn packaging material at him. They laugh and he runs after her up the stairs. Devon shows up with food, later. She asks him to stay after lunch and volunteer unpacking. He gives them a photo of Indigo in honor of Neil as a housewarming gift and tells them he saw Jack talking with Ashland. “It was tense,” he admits. Billy latches on to that. He goes upstairs and Devon admits he’s happy for her. He admits things are “exceptional” between them. Devon goes and Billy can’t stop thinking about Jack and Ashland Locke. Lily assumes it’s business but Billy thinks it has to do with Tara. They’ve mansions on six continents. Why would she stay here? Lily says they’ll explore it in an article. He learns later that Ashland changed filing for divorce from no fault to adultery.

At Amanda’s, she tells Imani she found the PI that Richard hired. Imani says that their grandfather isn’t on board with the new strategy to show that Richard was obsessed with finding out about his child. Amanda’s not happy that she went to Sutton about this. Imani says that’s not how it worked. Imani suggests they stay with trying to pawn the responsibility of Richard’s death at Newman, but Amanda says it’s not likely. Imani suggests Richard had debt and no money. Maybe he was taking money under the table to finance his search for his child. Amanda tells her sister that there was no money in his account. Imani thinks he could have hidden it elsewhere. Imani asks if she’ll tell the PI she’s the child. Amanda refuses. She’ll keep quiet about her connection to the family until the case is closed. Imani thinks they could take a break and have lunch. They agree not to discuss work or family.
Amanda and Imani get to know each other at Society and learn they’ve a lot in common. Nate pops by and introductions are made. Amanda calls Imani her friend. “Beautiful name,” Nate says. Amanda goes to take a call and Imani asks if he’s dated Amanda. He admits they did, briefly. She flirts and Amanda returns. Nate goes and Amanda says the PI has to meet with them now. Nikki pops over. She introduces herself. Amanda recalls meeting her and cuts the talk short since they have a meeting.
Jack returns home. Tara’s alone, decompressing. She tells Jack things went well with Harrison though he can’t grasp the enormity of the change. Jack’s glad that she wants Kyle involved. She worries that Ash will want to punish her by taking her son from her. Jack plays with Harrison and tells him he’s his grandpa. He’s never had a grandson and says that makes Harrison very special in his life.
Kyle returns home. Summer’s overwhelmed. Kyle says Tara wants a full commitment from him. They both find it surreal. They snuggle and Kyle says he couldn’t get through this without her. He worries about how to be a father but Summer’s supportive. It means a lot to him. She asks him to promise nothing will change for them. He promises they’ll always be okay. They kiss.
Nate visits Devon and hands him a bag of case studies for Moses. He brings up Imani and Devon says they’re working on a case together but he doesn’t know much. Amanda calls her a handful.
Denise Tolliver (Family Matters’ Telma Hopkins) shows up at Amanda’s place. They are surprised she’d remember details from this case since it was so long ago. Denise says he was trying to locate a baby his ex-girlfriend put up for adoption. He believed it was his child. Richard quit his job to focus on finding the baby and pressured her to find the baby. It was eating him alive to think of his child out there, abandoned. Denise had a rough idea on the baby’s due date but that was it. She tried to contact the mother but nobody was willing to talk to her. That didn’t matter. She had other ways of finding out what happened. She found the baby girl he was looking for and gave him the foster family’s address. “Unfortunately, it was right before he died.”
