Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for Wednesday, January 26, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Thursday, January 27. (Recaps live by 5:45 PM EST daily.) In the previous episode, Adam shocks Sally with news that Victor may sell the company and confronted him while Michael ordered his BFF Phyllis to stay in Genoa City. In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Chance is taken aback by a letter that makes him feel terrible, Mariah asks Tessa to marry her, turning the tables on her while Noah has a reaction to it.
At Crimson Lights, Sharon asks Tessa if there’s anything she can do to help with the adoption process. Tessa says they’re going to a seminar tomorrow to talk options, and they joined an online support group.
Sharon loves that idea. Tessa’s caught daydreaming and Sharon asks what’s up. Tessa says Mariah got news that hit her hard.
She tells her about Devon getting shared custody. Sharon purses her lips. She knows it had to be hard for her to hear. Mariah stumbles in and asks Tessa to talk — alone. She asks Tessa to close her eyes and she directs her to the patio where fairy lights are strewn. Mariah reminds her of their first date at the Athletic Club. “The movie under the stars,” Tessa says, her hands over her heart. Mariah wanted to recreate that. Tessa thinks it’s perfect.
Mariah remembers it was the first time they told each other how they felt. They were both nervous and laugh as they reminisce. Mariah takes Tessa’s hand and then opens a ring box. She gets on one knee and ask Tessa to marry her. Tessa cries as she says yes and Mariah puts the ring on her finger. They kiss and embrace as Noah creeps on them at the window and watches the exchange. They show Sharon the ring and talk wedding plans while Noah paces outside.
Mariah calls him inside. “I don’t want to intrude,” he claims. They want help planning their wedding. Everyone sits and Sharon wants to throw an engagement party. The women find it too traditional. Noah says it’s not very Terriah.
Sharon questions the name and he says it’s what Tessa’s fans call her online. He suggests a listening party for her album since all songs are about Mariah. Tessa admits the album is one long love song.
Everyone agrees they like it. He heads out to get drinks with friends, looking mopey.
At home, Devon plays jazz for Devon and rocks him, while Amanda smiles at the two. They’re happy things ran so smoothly and are grateful to Chance and Abby for giving them everything they needed to make him comfortable. She says it’s his bedtime.

At the manse, Abby paces. She tells Chance she doesn’t know what to do with herself. He’s busy reading a novel and seems relaxed as she rambles about having to tell the family the news.
He comforts her and promises things will get easier as they go. The phone rings and she doesn’t want to deal with anyone. Chance picks up her phone. It’s Devon on a video chat with little Dominic.
Abby’s touched. Devon explains he’s about to put the baby to sleep. Chance thanks them for calling and they say their I love yous. Abby’s upset afterward and Chance wants to prove to her that this will be something special, rather than a weekly ordeal. He massages her and it relaxes her. She needs him.
He wants to make time for her like this to show her how much she means to him. She likes that. They kiss and he tells her she’s so strong and has so much heart. It’s because of her that he’s home, alive and well.
He promises to be the man she needs and the father she needs. They kiss. They go up to make love and when Chance comes downstairs, he finds a letter. He reads it and cries as Abby strolls up. She asks what’s wrong. He says the letter is from a woman in Florida. Her husband was with him in Valencia. He sent her money for the funeral so she thanked him.
He wipes tears away. He had to do something. Abby calls him generous. He reads the letter about how her husband thought the world of him and she hopes he’ll find peace in his life and life a happy life. He’d want that.
Abby cries and hopes that her husband listens and stops blaming himself. He asks how he moves on and lets it got that she’s a widow. He can’t erase that night and is sickened by the thought that they died and he failed the mission. Abby tries to console him.
Back at Devon’s, the baby won’t sleep. He nods off and wakes himself up. He’s not settling in. Devon wonders if he’s picking up on the tension. Amanda thinks Devon’s overthinking it. The baby finally gets to sleep and Lily drops by.
Her knocking wakes the baby up. She tries to get him back to sleep and as they talk, she asks if she should call him ‘Dad’. Devon says, “Take it easy on that.” The baby goes back to sleep and Moses and Faith arrive, laughing.
The baby wakes up. Devon tells them about the shared custody agreement. The kids look at Dominic sleeping and Lily asks Amanda how it feels to have a baby in the house. She loves it.
She’s happy they didn’t have to take their case to a judge. Later, everyone goes and Devon and Amanda drink wine and snuggle.
Tessa finds Noah at Society. She’s there to pick up dinner and he’s drinking alone. She questions where his friends are. He says they must have bailed.
He comments on his good idea for the engagement party and doesn’t smile. Tessa looks concerned and asks if he’ll let her take him home. He says it’s not a good idea. He doesn’t want to impose. He won’t drive.
He tells her when you love someone you want them to be happy and he loves his sister so he’ll be fine. He goes, leaving Tessa shocked.
Faith goes to Crimson Lights and tells Sharon and Mariah she saw Dominic at Devon’s place and that she didn’t stay because the baby needed quiet to sleep. Mariah shares she knew about the shared custody. She says she’s thought about it and believes this is in the best interest of the child. Sharon hugs her kid.
