Soaps Spoilers has the Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for the Thursday, September 9, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Friday, September 9. In the previous episode, Jack professed he loves Phyllis still. In this episode, Sharon councils Adam, Sally plays games, and Victoria gets a lovely surprise from Ash as Billy zeroes in on something he learned about her husband-to-be.

Sharon knocks on Adam’s door at the office and he thinks it’s Stephanie. He asks her to send the ad rate projections from the first quarter. Sharon makes her voice higher and says, “Sure Mr. Newman!” He sees her and smiles. She apologizes for her treatment of him last night. He says there’s nothing to be sorry for. He told her he’d give her and Rey space and broke his word. They comment on how upset Mariah was with him but Adam thinks he had it coming. “It was a tense situation,” Sharon says. She wasn’t there for him last night but she’s there for him now. He’s glad to hear it. He values her professional opinion and she knows and cares for Connor. She asks if he and Chelsea are on the same page about their future together. “Not exactly,” he says. Sharon thinks they need to work that out before they talk to Connor because he’ll have those questions, too. He’ll want to know if there’s the hope of his family reuniting. “Is it truly over?” She asks. Adam admits he hasn’t gotten a definitive answer from her and she seems to almost want to give things another chance. Sharon thinks it makes sense. They’ve overcome many obstacles and forgave each other. Adam says for him, it’s different. Too much damage has been done. He needs to talk to her but is worried she wants a reconciliation and if he takes it off the table, she may lash out. As they talk, Sally appears in the door and hides as she eavesdrops. Adam glances at the door. He thanks Sharon for being there for him and always knowing what to say. He’s glad she still believes in him. Sally walks in, talking about budget reports. She apologizes and lies that she didn’t know he was with someone. She sticks around, even though she claims she’s sorry. It becomes awkward until Sharon finally gets up and says goodbye to Adam. Once she’s gone, Sally comments on how chilly it got. Adam implores her to stop playing games. He doesn’t appreciate that she did this on purpose. He was having an important conversation with Sharon. Sally apologizes. She admits she got jealous of seeing him with Sharon. She knows it’s none of her business but when the green-eyed monster takes over, she makes bad decisions. She’ll keep it in check. He tells her they’re good. She’ll email him about the budget. She goes and rolls her eyes at herself. Later, Adam calls Chelsea to talk about their future and their son.
Ashland brings Victoria coffee at home, pleasing her. They talk about their morning meetings. Ashland’s highlight is a call with Harrison. “Remember, it’s okay to rest.” He feels great. She asks if he’s taking the supplements Nate gave him. He is. In fact, he hopes she doesn’t mind but he asked Nate to be his best man at their wedding. She’s surprised. He wanted someone who meant something to them going forward. He admits he almost asked Victor, but assumes he’d walk her down the aisle. He could have asked Jack, which is a difficult dynamic, and then jokes about asking Billy. Ash admits he doesn’t miss anyone from New York. His relationships were based on business. Tara loved summering in the Hamptons, but Ash has always been a loner. Nate reminded him that he had power over his disease and could include loved ones. Everything he said speaks to his integrity. Ash likes to call Nate his friend and have him stand with them when they marry. The doorbell rings. He tells Victoria it’s for her. It’s a portrait of Victoria. She’s overcome. He wants it to be in her office to exemplify the changing of the guard. She loves it.

At Crimson Lights, Nate and Elena talk about sleeping in after the strenuous activity last night. She wants more sex but he says they’ve things to do. They liked having dinner with Victoria and Ashland. Both are shocked Ash asked him to be his best man. Nate finds it weird. “I’m honored but why me?” Elena thinks it’d be awkward asking his old friends who knew Tara. Maybe it’s a symbolic gesture of new beginnings. Besides, Nate showed him compassion and not like a billionaire. Nate says they’re going to Italy, whether or not he agrees to be the best man.

At home, Lily tells Billy it’s time to go to work. He’s waiting for an investigative journalist to get back to him with information on how Locke was able to buy those two TV studios. He learned something disturbing. His history’s been scrubbed. He’s hiding something. Nobody knows where he’s born or the truth about his parents. Mary and Ian Locke died when he was a teenager but there’s no proof. There’s also no birth certificate for Locke. “It’s like he and his family never existed.” Lily says documents weren’t digitized back then. Billy argues that there are no school records, either. She needs him to have facts before he jumps to conclusions.

Lily and Billy arrive at Crimson Lights and talk shop. They see Elena and Nate. Billy’s thrilled Elena’s onboard as the new Ask MD Now. They talk about doing a foursome and they mention their dinner date with Ash and Victoria last night. “Any details you want to share?” Billy asks. They don’t. Later, Lily’s surprised to hear that they’ve been invited to Ash’s wedding. They’re becoming friends. Billy especially is intrigued. Lily and Billy go get their order and Billy tells Lily something isn’t right. With Ash donating to the hospital and inviting Nate to the wedding, he thinks something is up. Lily shrugs his concerns off but he thinks people like him don’t cultivate friendships unless there’s something they can get out of it.
Victoria meets Nikki at Society. She was on a call about their wedding in Italy. Victoria’s grateful for her mama’s help. She says Ash is doing well, despite the night of the launch party which was a rough one. She tells her mother about the portrait Ash got her. Nikki thinks it’s fantastic. Victoria talks him up and tries not to think about how much time is slipping away. “What if the worst happens? What if I lose this man I love before we’ve begun our lives together?” What’ll she do then? Nikki understands her fears and calls their engagement abrupt. Victoria takes umbrage with that.
Back at the office, Billy’s frustrated about Ash hiding his past. Lily asks why the heck he cares. Billy thinks it’s a story everyone wants to hear and something Victoria should know about.
At home, “You are a hard man to keep track of.” He looks concerned.

Victoria tells her intended, “I asked you if there were any secrets I needed to know and you said no,” Ashland tells her, “I hoped you wouldn’t need to know.”
Mariah admits to Tessa, “I’m terrified.” Her girlfriend says, “Of Stitch?” Mariah says everyone keeps assuring her he won’t return but they beefed up security around there and they wouldn’t risk it but what if he does?”
Nick asks Jack if he thinks he and Phyllis are a good fit.
