Thursday, August 17 recap of B&B: Beth’s birthday party is filled with family members trying to get Liam and Hope to reunite while Ridge is too busy for his dad.
Wednesday’s B&B recap: Finn and Liam Vie For Steffy’s Love, and Brooke Swoons Over Ridge’s Wedding Gown Sketch But Wants to Sketch Her Own
At Eric’s mansion, it’s Beth’s birthday and Donna brings out a tray of food and asks who’s ready to party.
Balloons decorate the living room and Brooke, Katie, Hope, Kelly and Beth surround the coffee table as Donna tells the kids they have mermaid fins by the pool.
Brooke wants some. Katie always thought of her sister as a siren. They joke about that.
The kids go outside and Hope relays that Douglas is at sleepaway camp for the first time.
Katie recalls when Will went.
He had a blast. The men are on the way, says Brooke.
Katie says it’s a shame Carter can’t come and asks if Liam’s coming.
They haven’t had the talk with Beth about their separation, Hope explains and everyone’s uncomfortable.
The little girls return to eat cookies and Deacon arrives.
He hugs Beth and tells her he got her an amazing gift.
She says his being there is the best gift and asks when Daddy’s coming. Hope grins widely.
Hope later yells that Martha’s bringing the juice boxes while in the background, the kids are gone and are playing with Donna outside.
Deacon knows his daughter doesn’t want to get bogged down in negativity but her kid will be devasted when she finds out about the divorce.
Hope knows.
Katie gets it. Will went through that.
Brooke says she needs to think about herself, too.
Hope nods. “You’re happy when you’re with Liam.
You don’t have to throw that away for Thomas. Never for Thomas.”
In the CEO office, RJ talks to Eric and Ridge, assuming they want to talk to Liam.
They do. Liam turns up and feels like he’s being ambushed.
Liam thanks Eric for hosting the party and Eric points out that Donna’s posting too since it’s her home.
RJ starts in on Liam, telling him not to give up on his family.
Liam tells RJ that they’ve already drawn up divorce papers but RJ keeps hammering him about reuniting with Hope, which he feels would be the best gift for Beth.
Liam says things are different because of Thomas.
He can’t forgive Hope or what Thomas did, which is profound on Beth’s birthday.
RJ asks if he’s throwing his marriage away over one kiss and Liam explodes. “It’s not one kiss!”
He rants until Ridge says that Thomas is better.
Liam knows Hope initiated the kiss but it’s not easy imagining that he hasn’t manipulated her.
RJ asks if he misses Beth. Of course, Liam does.
Back at the manse, RJ and Liam arrive and Liam tells Hope he has the best gift for Beth.
They joke about there being a competition.
He’s excited to see Beth. Katie, Brooke and Deacon head to the pool and Liam inquires about the mermaid fins.
RJ wants to talk to Hope and Liam but Hope just wants today to be about Beth’s birthday.
He pushes through her boundaries and still thinks they should talk about reuniting for the sake of their family.
Liam and Hope grin at one another. RJ knows he’s breaking his rule about staying out of family drama but he worries about his sister. She thinks it’s inappropriate to discuss this especially since her kid doesn’t know yet.
Liam says they’re trying to do what’s right for their kid. RJ disrespects them by telling them they belong together.
He thinks they can rise above. Beth’s turning 7 and he asks if they want to miss her changing or growing.
Then tells them that this is their choice. Brooke and Katie return and Hope says RJ’s acting like a marriage counselor.
Katie and Donna side with RJ. Brooke calls Beth a gift. Hope and Liam shoot each other a look as her mom tells them not to give up on their marriage.

Daily B&B spoilers into August
Back at Forrester, Ridge is sketching something and says they’ll be using vegan leather. Eric tells his son he has a new project on his mind. He wants to collaborate with him like the old times. Ridge keeps sketching. “Would be nice,” he says.
They discuss a gown how it needs to be edgy according to Ridge but how Eric wants it softened by using ruching.
Ridge says sure, dismissively and Eric calls him out on patronizing him. He’s been designing since before Ridge was born.
Ridge turns away to do something.
Eric’s inspired by this new line and wants his son’s help to flush it out. It could be profitable and besides, “You could learn something.”
Ridge agrees he would but the timing is off. It’s been hectic.
Eric wants a legacy line for himself and the company.
They talk about how the party must be going and about Liam and Hope divorcing and Steffy and Finn’s separation.
Nothing brings people together like their love for a child, Eric says.
Back at the party, Liam says Beht’s a blessing and they know but Hope says with their marriage, “things came up.”
RJ says to forget what happened in Rome. Liam says maybe one day RJ will understand but he hopes not.
Hope wants to concentrate on the party, not the marriage counseling.
Brooke says yes, but she plows home how she wants them to “put your sweet family back together again.”
Beth rushes up with Kelly, and Donna and Deacon appear.
Liam hugs his kid and she asks why he’s always working. She missed him. He missed her.
They’re ready to cut the cake.
Hope lights the candle and they sing the Happy Birthday song.
Kelly didn’t wish for anything since she has everything she wants, which prompts Brooke to tell her daughter, “See? This is your future.”
