Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Y&R day ahead episode recap: Billy confronts Jack about promoting Diane, Victoria defends her decision to put Nick on leave to Victor, and Jack assures Diane there will be no coup.
Monday’s Y&R day ahead recap: Sally unleashed her anger on Nick, Summer agreed to help Chance, and Phyllis offered to come back if Michael worked his magic.

Victoria is startled by Victor when she wanders into her office at Newman. She wonders why he’s there so late.
He announces they have unfinished business and she won’t walk out on him this time.
She pours them drinks and assumes he’s talking about Nick’s leave.
Her father thinks that he and Nikki struck a nerve with her earlier. They have questions about her unilateral choice to put Nate in Nick’s position.
Pouting, she says she may have threatened to let him fire her if he disapproved, but she doesn’t want that. She claims she’s just worried about how traumatized her brother was.
He points out her brother can make his own decisions. She reminds him of what happened with Ashland and how much killing him got to Nick.
He can come back when he’s read and strong.
Victor asks how Nick reacted to her decision. She assumes he’s decided to use the time well.
Her father turns the topic to Nate. She insists there is nothing to discuss but he disagrees and asks if Hastings has influenced her decision.
His daughter insists that Nate didn’t and doesn’t know why he opposes him. Victor points out that Nick doesn’t trust him.
“Don’t try to pull the wool over my eyes,” he says. He doesn’t see how her personal relationship with Nate can’t affect her decisions.
She thought they’d gotten past their trust issues. Nate strolls in and is startled to see Victor there. His daughter suggests his father leave but he asks for a moment alone with Hastings.
Once she walks out, he tells him to close the door. Nate claims he’s up to the challenge and plans to impress everyone.
Victor crosses his arms and take a breath. Nate sips his bourbon and guesses that Victor also is not thrilled about him being in Nick’s position.
He assures him it is only temporary and not a power grab. He has no intention of making the kind of mistake he made at Chancellor-Winters.
Victor warns that if he does, he will find out and then be his enemy. He wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
Nate promises his intentions and pure and he cares about Victoria, although he’s sure Victor has concerns. “You bet,” says Victor.
Hastings is sad that Nick doesn’t trust him anymore. He justifies taking Nick’s position by claiming he did so to help Victoria. He’s sure
Victor would have done the same thing in his shoes when he was starting out.
Victor says he’s probably right. Victoria returns, happy to see them agreeing. Her father says he will be keeping a close eye on things and leaves.
Nate says her father has made it clear he’s wary of him but he thinks he’s talked him around. She thinks her father understands her choice.
If they’ve won him over, they are brilliant. They kiss.
At the jazz lounge, Audra is wishing she had a cheeseburger instead of a salad as she drinks with Kyle. He offers to tell her where the city’s greatest burger joint is if she has another round.
She offers to buy the next round if their conversation can get a little more personal. He was enjoying their “non-personal conversation.”
She promises not to grill him about his turmoil and is sure he’s avoiding his darker feelings. Audra wants to hear about the man underneath the pressed suit.
When he sees appearances matter, she says he gets an A+ in that category. She just wonders what his grade will be in fun-loving.
Kyle claims he can party with the best of them. He brags about raiding Locke’s liquor cabinet and having an affair with his wife.
“There might be hope for you after all,” she says. They toast. She admits she did a deep dive on him since their last drink and new about this.
The mood is dampened when she mentions his wife so she tries to lighten it by telling him about having sex in a helicopter. She brags that her achievements are confined to the boardroom.
He challenges her to show him her moves. They get up and dance.
After awhile, he says it’s getting late and he needs to get home. She claims she has stuff to keep her busy too. She was happy to keep him distracted and offers to walk him out.
Luckily for her, she just lives upstairs.

At the Abbott estate, Jack praises Diane in her outfit and can’t wait to toast her new position. She’s surprised they haven’t heard Ashley screaming about that yet.
Billy barges in and demands to know why he’s hearing about Diane’s promotion for the first time online. Did his brother even consult with anyone before deciding this?
Jack thinks he’s being dramatic but Billy thinks he’s setting off a family war. The CEO insists this was his decision to make.
Billy is worried that he doesn’t seem to think he’s ethically obligated to consult him or anyone else.
Jack suggests his fiancée leave and order and appetizer. Once Diane is gone, Jack stands by his judgement call and his brother thinks his move has been incendiary.
They are forced to go along with his whim or damage the company. Jack points out that Billy got his job without any consultation.
Billy says that’s different because he’s an Abbott. Jack points out Diane will soon be an Abbott too. This is all right as long as he says it’s right.
His brother is sure he’s just started a war and given Ashley ammunition for the board. Tucker has something going on with their sister and this will be bad.
Billy does not approve of what he’s done but he will have his back.
Ashley gets a text in the lobby of the GCAC and is appalled to see a press release announcing Diane’s new position at Jabot.
Diane shows up as Ashley gets off the phone, saying she’s set things in motion.
She and Diane start taunting each other. Ashley thinks she will be one busy girl.
Jenkins is surprised she’s not more upset. The Abbott says her life is taking her in a different direction and it will be a surprise to her.
Diane is suspicious. Jack arrives and escorts his fiancée to their table. She explains that Ashley knows about her promotion but had no vitriol, just sarcasm.
They wonder what this means and discuss the potential coup. She asks if things got ugly with Billy and he admits that his brother is concerned but still supporting them.
She suggests they talk to the board members. He needs to get ahead of any questions and she worries about what this conflict could do to their son’s marriage.
Jack doesn’t want to talk about any of that this evening. He just wants a romantic time talking about their wedding.
She thinks that’s a wonderful idea.
As Kyle and Audra head to the lobby, they talk about having a wild streak when they were younger. She strokes his tie and asks if the bad boy is still in there.
He loosens his tie and undoes the top button. That gets her giggling. She purses her lips and wiggles her jaw.
She thinks she needs a shower and bed. That sounds good to him. She says she had a lovely time.
After she slowly goes up the stairs, he follows.
Jack spots all this from his table. Diane notices he’s furrowing his brow. He suggests they go to the lounge.
She guesses something has upset him. Her fiancé explains he just saw their son go upstairs and assumes he got a hotel room. Maybe one night away from his wife will fix things?
Kyle follows Audra into her room. They make out and peel off their clothes before heading for the bed.
Ashley goes to the Abbott house and finds Billy eating pie. They talk about how shocked they were about the promotion.
She assures him she’s “tizzy-free” and has given up on the war. He doesn’t believe it and asks what’s going on.
His sister admits she has something up her sleeve, but it’s positive and she won’t explain. Billy hopes she knows what she’s doing.
