In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Phyllis gets defensive about Daniel with Tucker, Devon explains to Jill and Lily why he wants to dismantle the merger again, and Kyle anxiously waits for news about his mom’s plan. In the previous episode, Diane kissed Stark before planting evidence in his suite, , Summer and Kyle fought over Diane, and Daniel told Phyllis to get some help.

Diane joins Jack at Crimson Lights. When she tells him she’s committed to playing her part to trick Jeremy, he wonders how committed.
She’s reassuring. He’s hoping the GCPD can end this.
At Jabot, Kyle anxiously checks his messages and bickers with Summer.
She complains about her mom’s bad choices. He accuses her of saying bad things about her mom that could just as easily be said about his.
His wife thinks he’s being overly sensitive. Their moms are adults and should be responsible for their choices.
He’s frustrated by how in the dark he is about this situation.
She couldn’t let his mom put their marriage in a compromising position again. He keeps insisting that his mom is in actual danger, unlike her mother.
Kyle calls his father for an update. Jack says things are underway and the best thing he can do is assure Summer everything will be fine.
Summer tells him she’s happy his mom is okay but it’s best he not get involved. She just wants them to protect their son.
He refuses to cut his mom out of their lives.
Stark comes out of the bathroom in his suite wearing a robe. He finds the stolen jewelry on a table and pockets it before answering the door. It’s Chance.
He has a warrant from the Chicago PD to search the premises.
Stark asks if he can have a few minutes to change. Once he’s dressed, Chance searches.
Jeremy complains this is a mistake and he hasn’t been to Chicago for years.
As the cop looks around, they talk about Stark’s plans. He pats his shirt pocket and smirks.
Eventually, Chance finds the papers that Diane planted under the mattress. They’re building schematics for Nikki’s building.
Stark insists they aren’t his. The cop points out it must be a helluva coincidence then.
Surveillance footage shows a man about his size entering the building last night.
Jeremy doesn’t know what this has to do with him. Chance tells him about the break-in. A pair of reading glasses were found by the safe. The prints on them match his.
Laughing, Stark says he’s being set up. He refuses to let Chance search his body.
“You don’t have a choice,” Chance says.
Backing away, Jeremy says that Jack and Diane are setting him up. Again, he refuses to be personally searched.
When he opens the door, Jack and Diane are standing there.
Diane says he told her he was going to Chicago last night. Chance finds the black wind-breaker from the surveillance footage.
Diane tells the cop that Stark has been harassing her. Jeremy dismisses that and suggests they just dropped by to see their plan come to the surface.
Chance doesn’t want to hear this. It’s not his case. He demands to search him.
Stark and Diane yell at each other. When he lunges at her, Chance holds him back and finds the jewelry.
That looks like concrete evidence to the cop.
Stark insists that Diane planted it and if he’s going down, so is she.
Diane says she was with Jack all night last night. She admits she has a history with Stark and they dated briefly in LA before he threatened and blackmailed her.
He’s been stalking her since he was released from prison. Jack vouches for this.
Diane claims she was embarrassed to go to the cops with this.
Jeremy declares this is all “crap” and he’ll be out by this afternoon. The cop points out he’s a felon in possession of stolen goods so that at least breaks his parole.
As the cop drags him out, Jeremy warns Diane she hasn’t seen the last of him.
Diane tells Jack it’s all over and they hug.
He sends Kyle a text to inform him that Stark is in custody. Kyle tells Summer the threat is gone and they can all go back to normal.
She’s not so convinced. Trouble and chaos have been common since Diane’s return.
He points out that’s because everyone in Genoa City hates her. She reminds him his mom is not some hapless victim and she’s hated because she did horrible things.
She’s dragging them all down because of her terrible choices. How much lower can she go?
She reminds him that her family is his family too. Summer needs him to see his mother for who she is.
Jack and Diane head back to the Abbott estate, excited that they have pulled this off.
As they congratulate themselves, he calls Nikki to leave a message telling her he heard about the robbery and has some good news.
Once he gets off the line, Diane thanks him for stepping up for her and never losing his cool. He couldn’t lose sight of their goal.
They needs to remove Stark so they could focus on what matters. “Us,” he says, kissing her.

Lily bursts into Devon’s penthouse to discuss unmerging the companies. He is still determined to go through with it.
They start a video conference with Jill. She points out how much damage his plan will do to their companies.
He knows but he thinks that staying together would be worse. He doesn’t want this to turn into a personal fight.
Lily points out it could be a disaster. Devon doesn’t think so.
This company has never been just about making money for him. He claims he only agreed to the merger to increase the family bond but that clearly failed.
Devon also wants his autonomy back. He doesn’t like committees.
The company is what helped he and Neil heal after the most difficult time in their lives.
Jill understands but his timing is garbage. He should have realized this six months ago.
Lily thinks it ridiculous and points out it was her father’s company too.
Devon points out that two people in their family have already come after the company. He doesn’t feel safe and he doesn’t want shareholders. He wants control.
Jill doesn’t generally think that sentimentality belongs in business, but she recognizes this is about family. But does his feeling good justify the substantial financial loss they will incur?
Lily wants to talk to him about it in private. Jill agrees.
At Society, Phyllis tells Tucker to cut the anger stuff. It doesn’t suit him.
He stares and says she seems angry.
She is angry at Diane and the Tucker that she likes would understand that because he’s ruthless and self-serving.
Phyllis goes on about how Jack will eventually figure Diane out. Her cozying up to Stark will bite her.
She blames Diane for Summer firing her and now her son going off her.
Phyllis admits she consumed with hatred for “that woman” but she can multi-task. McCall asks what it will take to let go of the “crippling disdain.” Maybe she should focus on something more productive?
When he asks about Daniel’s project, she refuses to give him any information.
He tells her about the importance of positive vibes. They keep him calm in the place of adversity. He imagines Daniel is in that place and would love to talk about it some time.
Phyllis would rather drive cross country with Diane than allow him to talk business with her son.
She says he would see him coming a mile away and storms off.
When he spots Devon arriving at the bar, he walks over and asks why he’s so rattled. He’d like to help.
Devon doesn’t trust him and would rather drink alone. His father says that’s fair but he’s not going anywhere.
After downing his drink, Devon walks out.
Devon mopes his way back to his penthouse. Lily is still there.
She explains that she and Jill worked out a decision about Hamilton-Winters.
