The Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for the Thursday, August 26, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Friday, August 27. In the previous episode, Abby attempted to get Stitch to confess. In this episode, Mariah gives birth, and Stitch disappears.
Rey, Devon and Victor are shocked to find Mariah’s phone in Stitch’s gym bag in his room. They discuss bringing in the cops and Devon thinks they need to talk to Abby to update her. Victor calls her.
At Abby’s house, Stitch asks if she’s talking about Mariah. Why would he know where she is? He can’t believe she thought that much less said it aloud. Abby ignores her dad’s call and asks Stitch to stay, even if it is to tell her how wrong she is. Stitch wishes he hadn’t revealed how he felt about losing their child. He tells her she’s jumping to the wrong conclusion. She’s sorry if she did that. “If,” he says. He claims he can’t believe she still thinks he had anything to do with Mariah’s disappearance. Abby tells him he knew about Mariah’s notebook, the power bars, and he lied about the job at Memorial. She thinks he told her those things to make her feel better, but she isn’t sure she believes in him. He gets a text from Devon. “Wait, does he think I did this too?” Devon leaves a voicemail, asking to run ideas by him on how to help Abby. Meanwhile, Abby talks about how amazing Mariah has been. Abby says she knows he came for redemption. She asks him to talk about it. He knows Genoa City is an anchor for her but it’s something else for him. He wanted to find a way back to her. He was lucky that they shared a life together but he didn’t protect her. Abby reminds him it wasn’t his fault. If she said that it was, she’s sorry. It was her pain and grief talking. That’s what Stitch is going through now. Pain. “I’m out of my head.” Abby understands that what he’s been through would drive anyone to do bad things. “Unspeakable things,” Stitch says. Abby denies that. He was always a comfort to her. He always knew she was going to come home. “That was your plan, right?” He nods. “Yeah.” Abby thinks it’s good this is all coming out. “I didn’t mean for it to get this far.” She offers to help him. He admits he was going to let her go. She believes him and thinks it’s best if it happens soon. “What was I thinking? I screwed all this up. I was trying to bring us closer together.” He wanted a lifeline. She’ll be that for him once they clean up this mess. She wants to see if Mariah and the baby are okay. Will he take her to them? He nods.

Sharon and Tessa return to Crimson Lights after their walk to the park. They both feel better, and joke that Mariah would love that they’re bonding. Rey texts that the cops broke through the block on Mariah’s phone, which was tracked to Stitch’s room at Grand Phoenix. They’re shocked, especially Sharon since this isn’t the man she knew. Maybe her phone was planted. Tessa recalls Stitch being there, eavesdropping on them.
At an undisclosed location, Mariah sweats and groans through contractions. She begs to be taken to a hospital and then comforts Bowie.

Back in Stitch’s room, Rey asks why Stitch did this. Victor tells him he’s still in love with Abby and that Max purposefully caused the accident that made her lose their baby. She can’t carry to term because of the scar tissue, and it seems to have contributed to their divorce. Maybe he thought this would earn her undying gratitude. Rey sees this with arson cases. This is a good thing, Rey reveals. He’s probably taking good care of her. Moneybags worries about what else he’s up to and demands that Rey keep him posted. He goes and Devon hears from his PI who says Stitch wasn’t in Iowa City when he said he was. Rey thinks he may be doing this on his own. He will run a check on his credit cards. Kevin calls and retrieved another version of the camera footage from the convenience store. There was no old man buying maternity power bars. Devon wonders why he lied, knowing they were investigating. Rey’s not sure but the evidence is pointing directly at him. Devon adds that it’s not pointing at where he’s keeping Mariah. Rey calls Sharon, who hasn’t heard from Abby. Sharon tells Tessa that Rey thinks Stitch did kidnap Mariah. Rey put out an APB on the man and asks her not to attempt to talk to him if she sees him. “Call me.” He disconnects. Devon gets off a call with Denise, his PI. He tells Rey that a house in town was rented two months ago to Ben Russell. That’s his birth name. It’s on Willow Lane, the same street the convenience store is on.

Victor arrives at the Chancellor mansion and calls for Abby. Nobody’s home. He finds her cell and Rey calls. Mumbles fills Rey in on where he is and that Abby left her phone behind. He learns about the house on Willow.
Stitch unlocks a room and lets Abby inside. She blurts, “Mariah. You’re in labor,” as she sees Mariah writhing on the bed in pain. Mariah doesn’t think Abby’s really there. She’s dreamed so many have visited. Abby takes her friend’s hand and promises she’s really there. Mariah cries. She was so scared. She thought they’d never find her. She wants to get to the hospital. “It’s okay, I brought a….” she looks behind her for Stitch and he’s gone. Devon and Rey rush in. The house is clear. Nobody’s there. Rey tells Mariah that he’ll talk to Sharon and Tessa. They’ll be so happy she’s okay. Abby picks Mariah up but she has another contraction. It’s close to the last one, so she lays back down. Mariah knows she won’t make it to the hospital. “The baby is coming now!” Meanwhile, Rey calls Sharon with the news. Sharon in turn calls Victor with the update that Mariah and Abby have been sound. “I hope you’re ready to become a grandfather. Again.” Victor grins. “Are you serious? Oh my goodness.” They take off to Memorial, while back at the house on Willow, they all video chat with Nate, while they wait for the paramedics. Mariah has another contraction and Nate helps her to breathe through it. Devon tells Mariah he’s in awe of her and how she’s handled this, while Abby calls her a fierce protector. Mariah starts pushing and 35 minutes later, the baby comes. They wrap him up and the baby cries as the paramedics finally arrive.

Ashland has an attack in front of Nate. “I’m okay,” he tells the doctor. Nate asks if he’s really okay.
Adam invites Sally to the official launch party for Newman Media. She tells him, “We’ll see.”
