In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Victoria plays Locke, Adam and Sally discuss plans to keep their new roles, and Phyllis meets Diane in the flesh. In the previous episode, Rey agreed to take Connor on a trip for Chelsea and Adam since they’re busy with work.

In Vicky’s office, she and Ashland try to make plans to get to Italy but issues arise when the flight becomes delayed due to storms. They discuss Adam taking over at Newman Media.
She thinks the problem will be fixed once they clear Ashland’s name.
She wants to make that their main priority. He agrees. They talk about his visit with Adam and Locke says Adam admired him for pulling the wool over his sister’s eyes.
Victoria says it goes to show that he didn’t turn over a new leaf. She remembers Adam faking being blind and asks if Ashland thinks he’s the one too have set him up. That’s never occurred to Ashland.
Does she think her brother is that devious? Victoria says he is, and it’d satisfy his own ambitions. Ashland says Victor will never believe it. Victoria suggests they find the proof.
He’s benefiting the most from all of this. Ashland thinks they should cancel their trip and stay in Genoa City and do a deep dive into what Adam’s been up to. She agrees.
If he’s behind this, they need to put the pressure on. Ashland loves the way her mind works.
In Victor’s office, he seems relaxed while Nikki frets over Victoria’s plan to dupe Ashland into making him think she still loves him. Victor reassures his wife he has this covered. He told the pilot to tell them there’s a storm so that Michael can find a clause before they leave.
Nikki is glad. She can’t believe he had Michael held in a foreign country. Nikki didn’t realize what the man was capable of. Victor has had suspicions about him from the beginning and admits he confronted him about faking his illness.
He denied it, of course, and because Vicky was happy, he decided not to interfere. Nikki hopes he’s not blaming Victoria for being duped.
He’s not so sure, and he doesn’t want to discuss it. Nikki doesn’t care.
“We absolutely have to talk about this.” Being duped doesn’t mean she isn’t doing a great job running Newman. He agrees. Then why did he appoint Adam as CEO? He calls it temporary since she’s going to Italy.
Why didn’t he make her COO? “Sweetheart, it doesn’t have the same impact,” he says. She tells him that’s the point. Victoria needs to know that her family will stand by her no matter what.

Sally’s thrilled when Adam pulls out her chair at Society. She jokes, “What’s next? Breakfast in bed?” They flirt and discuss their similar mindsets for keeping their eye on the competition.
They can’t believe they’re going to run Newman Media together. She still can’t get over him hiring her as COO. Adam’s not sure how long this will last but she doesn’t care.
It feels good to be trusted. It’s been a while. They toast to being in charge and she worries he jinxed it. They gloat about how Victoria screwed up and will have to clean up her own mess even after Ashland is kicked to the curb.
Sally thinks this is a test that Adam can run the company well. Adam agrees and thinks he has to prove himself before she gets back from Tuscany. He knows she hasn’t done anything with her new companies.
It’s never been clear. Sally thinks he needs to come up with something bold and unique.
He agrees, they need to go big or go home. Adam values her opinion, so Sally suggests they get another round of drinks and get brainstorming.
In L.A., Jack flashes back to yelling at Diane about running away and faking her death. Phyllis strolls up, shocking him. What’s she doing there? Phyllis was concerned about her friend.
She tries to get him to talk. He mentions connecting with Allie, but she can see something is going on. He admits it’s shocking and turned everything upside down.
He realizes he can’t handle this on his own and has to share the insanity with someone. He trusts her and blurts that Diane Jenkins is alive. Phyllis is shocked. She’s dead.
Is someone impersonating her? Jack tells her it’s really Diane. Phyllis repeats, “Diane is dead. They pulled out her body. There was a service.” Jack says it was all a lie and Deacon Sharpe stole a body to cover it up.
Phyllis’ mouth drops open and her hand goes to her forehead. “Oh my God, no.” She realizes she’s the one who sent the texts. “What does she want?” Jack says she wants to reconnect with Kyle, since she brought Allie to him.
She thinks it’s only fair. Jack explains a little about how it went down with Allie in the middle. Jack refused Diane. Phyllis says what the woman did was beyond disgusting but Kyle was a little boy when she “died.”
He’s a grown man now. She gets that he wants to protect him, but it’s Diane. “Look at what she’s already done. She’s a wrecking ball.” She knows that he can’t stop Diane from inserting herself in Kyle’s life.
Jack thinks she’s too much of a coward. She needs an in. Phyllis disagrees. He doesn’t want Kyle to know about Diane but Phyllis reminds him how well it went when he kept the truth from Keemo. Phyllis knows Diane will blindside Kyle.
From her house, Diane calls to get Kyle’s office phone number in Milan, under the guise that she’s his aunt Ashley Abbott. She’s given the number, and disconnects, looking sly.
Later, Jack and Phyllis show up at Diane’s door.
Phyllis stares at Diane. “Oh my God it’s true. You are alive.”
