Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for Wednesday, December 22, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Thursday, December 23. (Recaps live by 5:45 PM EST daily.) In the previous episode, Devon gave Dom a special gift from Neil on Christmas Eve. In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, it’s Christmas Eve still and Adam takes Sally for a drink, while Lily and Billy make love, and Noah and Connor prank Chelsea.
Lily arrives home with packages from last minute shopping. Billy looks through the packages, hopeful there’s one for him. She notices he has placed mistletoe around the condo and kisses him underneath. She tells him she finished video chatting with Mattie and Charlie. They’re spending time with their dad and Sam. The kids are at a play date, Billy says. They helped him decorate and build gingerbread houses. He confesses he enjoyed quality time with them.
They agree to open one gift from each other. They hand each other a card. Lily opens hers. Tickets to Intimate Apparel, the Broadway show she wanted to see. She’s thrilled and kisses him. He opens his gift. “Are you kidding me? VIP passes to Springsteen?” Devon pulled strings, she says. It’s happening the same weekend of the Broadway show. They love their gifts, and profess their love for each other. They make love and he tells her afterward that it’s been a year since he was wrongfully accused of trying to kill Adam. She’s always been there for him. They talk about last Christmas Eve. They had decided to give their relationship a shot. He wishes her a happy anniversary and they profess their love.
At the ranch, Nikki’s happy to catch up with loved ones tonight. She asks Victor to giver her a gift. No talking business tonight. “I’ll try my best,” he vows. Noah appears and Victor wants to use him as his right hand man. They need to wrap gifts for Connor. Hockey gear. Noah agrees to it.
Nick arrives at Crimson Lights and greets Sharon. He details to Sharon that Christian will wake him up way too early to see if Rudolph ate his carrots. Then he’ll go inside and play with all of his presents, then head to the ranch to open gifts. He’ll spend the rest of the say at her house. He asks what he can bring. “Just bring yourselves,” she says. She admits she can’t recall the last time they were all together at Christmas. They can’t wait. It’ll be noisy and messy.
Sharon tells Nick she talked to Mariah today and thinks she and Tessa are in a good place. “She seemed truly happy.” Sharon can tell something is on Nick’s mind. Summer. He knows she’s happy in Milan with Harrison and Kyle. He can see them anytime. Sharon thinks he must be thinking about last year when he and Phyllis were together. He’s working through bittersweet moments, he tells his ex. He appreciates her listening and the mint hot chocolate but he’s not sure of who he is. She is. She calls him a good man, a thoughtful friend and wonderful father. She knows he’ll work his way through this.

Victoria is surprised to see Ashland at her office. He tells her it’s time to clock out and celebrate. She wishes she could but she can’t. She’s busy. He tells her he sat out of many holidays and is looking at life much differently these days. She tells him her life is different with him.
She needs to wrap some things up. He offers to help speed things up. She calls herself lucky and admits he thought he was the lucky one. They kiss. Later, Victoria’s thankful that they’re finally done. What will they do first? He suggest a walk to take in holiday decorations. Maybe it’ll snow. She loves that thought. He thinks they should later enjoy dinner by the fire. “Perfect,” she says. He’s grateful to share all of this with her. She feels the same.
Sally finds Adam in his office. “Come on in. I know you want to,” he says. She walks in with a file. She assumes he should be with his family, unlike her who has nobody to spend the holidays with. “Wow. Was that your attempt to snag an invitation to deck the hall?” He asks. He has a full night with Connor and Chelsea and will be with his family on Christmas day. She shrugs. She’s a lone wolf and is capable of spending the holiday alone. He tells her he has time for a holiday drink. “Would you like to join me?”
At the condo, Connor and Chelsea wrap gifts. He comments that she’s not great at wrapping. They laugh and talk about what they’re giving Adam. She got him a jacket and a painting. She’s not sure which she’ll give him. Connor doesn’t think the picture is the best match but Chelsea assures that if she decides to give it, he’ll understand. He goes off to get ready to leave and she stares at the photo of the cottage. “It used to match us both perfectly.” She reminisces about him buying it for them.
Chelsea and Connor turn up at the ranch. Noah and Victor try to hide the hockey gear for Connor but he sees it and gets excited. Victor says they were trying to wrap it up before he got there. He’d rather try it out rather than go riding. Chelsea’s not sure. Noah says he learned when he was Connor’s age. Victor decides his grandson will should. Chelsea tells Noah he’d better bring him back with all of his teeth and take lots of photos. Connor hugs him. She’ll pick him up later.
At Society, Adam asks what a lone wolf does at Christmas. Sally details that she likes to sleep late on Christmas morning. Adam calls it luxurious and he’s jealous because Connor wakes him up so early. Sally says that she then unwraps her gifts that are under her table Christmas tree. “The ones you buy for yourself?” Adam asks. She scoffs. The ones from her sister and grandmother. They call each other later and gossip, and then she’ll watch It’s a Wonderful Life. He calls it a classic. They share a few laughs over enjoyment the same movie and Chelsea appears. Adam invites her over. She shares that Connor’s out playing hockey.
Adam’s stunned to learn that Noah’s teaching him. She’s a little nervous about the toothless grins. Adam invites her to join them. He claims they were discussing what’s next for the fashion platform. Chelsea and Sally bounce ideas off of one another. Sally wants to focus on their originals since everyone’s still after how she created Victoria’s wedding dress. Chelsea shrugs and calls it ancient history. Sally’s face falls as the women become competitive. Adam notices and tells them it’s time to stop talking business.
Chelsea talks about what she’s doing for Christmas and asks what Sally’s up to for the holidays. Sally calls her plans casual and says she’ll be in Genoa City, not jet setting like Chelsea suggests. Chelsea goes and Adam thinks she was using one-upmanship on his ex. Sally denies it. She and Chelsea were feeding off each other’s energy. She calls Chelsea smart. If she wants the company to succeed, she’ll come around. “Good luck with that,” he says, taking a drink. They get up to leave and Adam wishes her a happy Christmas before he kisses her cheek.
Back at Crimson Lights, Nick thinks about calling Ashland an opportunist when he and Victoria show up. He greets them both. Sharon gets their order and Nick wants to talk to Ashland. Victoria worries that they’ll just rehash the negative conversation they already had. Nick knows but he has something to get off his chest if Ashland’s willing to listen.
Nick needs to let go of his resentment. He can’t let it ruin his relationship with his sister an wants to put this chapter behind them and start fresh. Ashland would like that. “Here’s to a fresh start,” Ashland says, extending his hand. The men shake on it. Neither smiles, though Victoria does.
Back at the ranch, Chelsea finds Noah with Connor. Connor’s hand is over his mouth and he smirks at his uncle. Noah says, “You know that thing you told me not to do?” Chelsea looks worried and asks to see Connor’s mouth. Connor smiles at her and shows her his teeth are fine. They were just pranking her. She laughs and then becomes stern and tells them that Christmas is cancelled. Connor’s eyes widen and he apologizes.
Chelsea grins. It’s her turn to prank him. Everyone laughs and Victor appears and they talk about how much fun Connor had. Chelsea takes Connor away and Noah tells his grandfather that Connor doesn’t remind him of Adam at all. He knows that Adam went through trauma. It explains a lot. Victor agrees.
Once everyone is gone, Nikki and Victor talk about enjoying the night together. She holds her hand and he asks if she’s alright. “It’s just a little cramp,” she says. He rubs it and calls her the most cherished gift he’s ever received. They embrace and he kisses her cheek and wishes her a merry Christmas.
At home, Chelsea decides to wrap the cabin photo for Adam after all.
