This is the Canadian Y&R day ahead recap from the Tuesday, May 18, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Wednesday, May 19. In the previous episode, Ashland showed up at Kyle & Summer’s suite looking angry and in today’s episode, Ashland throws his weight around, Mariah and Tessa have a little romance, and Abby misses Chance.
Ashland asks Kyle to tell him where Tara and Harrison are. Kyle and Summer lie but Ashland can smell her perfume. “I’m sorry you’re having a hard time finding your family. But has it occurred to you they don’t want to be found?” They go round in circles until Ashland stomps out, promising they’ll regret not telling him. Kyle and Summer worry at length on what Ashland will do next. Kyle texts Tara to tell her he’s here and she calls him, all verklempt asking him to claim paternity already. Kyle realizes he needs to do it. Ashland has made his choice for her. Summer isn’t so sure. She doesn’t like how he slammed the door in the man’s face. Kyle couldn’t stand him grilling her. He’s stepping over the line. “I can handle myself, Kyle,” Summer tells him. Ashland will retaliate if Kyle makes that big claim, knowing that he loves his son. Tara arrives. She gave the nanny strict orders to keep the door locked. She wants to know what Ashland said to them. Summer says, “Now? It’s getting late.” Tara’s worried she’ll be up all night pacing. Kyle says that her husband grilled them and they kicked him out. Tara tells Summer she’s sorry.

At Society, Abby wonders why Tara showed up with her kid. Mariah hopes they reschedule. Tessa arrives and learns the party ended early because they had unwanted guests. Tessa asks Mariah to make it a date night. Abby turns the conversation back to them. She wants to implement date night with Chance. Mariah asks her to join them to talk all things Baby Chancellor. Abby refuses. She goes and Mariah flirts, hoping for romance with Tessa. Tessa takes a bunch of photos of Mariah, saying she wants to document every stage of her pregnancy. Mariah knows Abby’s putting on a brave front but missing Abby. Tessa gets it. They agree not to give her reminders of what she’s missing. They discuss Kyle and Summer’s drama and Tessa tells her girlfriend she’s getting more beautiful with each passing day. Mariah worries about weight gain. Tessa says she isn’t allowed to get self-conscious because she’s stunningly beautiful inside and out. Mariah was all she could think about at the concert tonight. Mariah is moved. “You keep talking like that and I’m gonna drag you home to bed so fast it’s going to make your hair curl.” Tessa pulls out a key to a hotel room at the club. She booked massages, too. Mariah says she couldn’t love her more. Mariah looks around, “Check please? Let’s wrap it up. Let’s go!”
Billy arrives at ChanceComm and asks Lily to pack things up. It’s late. He’s taking care of Johnny and Katie while Victoria’s away and apologizes in advance if he comes in tired tomorrow. Lily talks about playing games when Victoria turns up. She closed her deal in St. Louis faster so she could join Summer and Kyle’s engagement party. They all wonder why it was postponed. She saw Ashland’s jet when she landed. They wonder why he’s there. Victoria reveals she’s angry that Ashland sold the company to Victor and Adam. She goes and Billy says he’s forwarded Lily the article on Adam and Chelsea. Lily read it and said it was good reporting. No accusations without evidence to back it up. He didn’t write this way with Adam’s. Billy was tempted by his old habits but stuck with integrity. Billy thinks Adam and Victor will make good on their threat to go to war with them. If they go on a rampage and write about his misdeeds he says he’ll step aside. Lily doesn’t believe that. Billy has been obsessing over this for a while, he says. He considers they will have a transition period and that’s when they should make their move and taint Cyaxares publishers so they’re on the defense. She asks how they’ll “not know it’s us.” He’s not sure but Lily says she likes it. She wants to brainstorm. This surprises Billy since she usually shuts down his ideas. He’d like to brainstorm but has to take her somewhere. “It’s all taken care of,” he says, mysteriously.

Abby arrives at Crimson Lights. Victoria thanks her for telling her about the engagement party postponement. Victoria came to get treats for the kids but the nanny says they’re asleep. Victoria asks if everything is alright with Chance and the baby. Abby says it is. She got a surprise call from Chance and he’s fine. She misses him. She minimizes her problems but Victoria tells her not to. Abby says the engagement party made things worse. She feels like she’s still anticipating her own happy moments. Victoria comforts her. She’ll have that soon. They talk about what happened at the engagement party and that Tara showed up. Victoria was surprised. She assumed Ashland was here. They agree to have dinner at Society. First, Victoria has a few calls to make. Abby leaves.
Ashland asks Krystal at the club, to find something for him and when she won’t, Phyllis shows up and asks how she can help. Ashland explains he wants the name of all guests who signed in within the last 24 hours. He thinks his wife checked in with their son under an assumed name. “Maybe bringing in the police and the press will change your mind,” He says. Phyllis thinks they’ll be more interested in him trying to blackmail her. Phyllis texts Summer with the news and asks what’s going on. Later, Tessa and Mariah turn up. Tessa gets seductive, talking about wanting to get her out of that dress. They head upstairs.
Victoria finds Ashland at Society. They greet each other and she agrees to a cocktail with him while she waits for her sister. She asks him to pay.
At the club, Tara has a mini-freak out when she learns about Phyllis’ text and that Ashland’s throwing his weight around.
