This is the Canadian Y&R day ahead recap from the Friday, May 14, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Monday, May 17. In the previous episode, Sally got a slap across the face from Summer and in today’s episode, Amanda agreed to work with Imani, and Nick was upset to learn what was going on with his daughter.
Jack stands outside Society looking at his watch while inside, Nick grills Phyllis. She tells him to lighten up. Everyone is reassuring to each other and Abby tells Mariah to turn the music up so they can start having fun. Jack calls Summer inviting her to reach out of they need help, but winds up leaving a message when she doesn’t pick up. Phyllis finally spills all about Kyle and the affair with Tara and how Ashland may have become suspicious of this. Nick’s angry and asks how long she’s known. She stammers and doesn’t really get it out and he crabs at her for keeping secrets. She thinks they should focus on being supportive and she assumes Jack knows something, too. Nick takes off to see Jack and gripe about the kids. He gets a text from the nanny and Christian’s asking for him. He goes to Phyllis and lets her know and then worries that Summer marrying “this guy” will be a disaster.
Summer paces and stares at her phone at the club while upstairs, Kyle rants that they agreed to keep quiet about Harrison being his. Tara tells him he needs to claim paternity so she won’t lose her son. Kyle’s not sure that’s a good plan. Tara lied about the dates of the affair so Ashland wouldn’t be suspicious. Kyle needs time to process. He asks why she came here since he’d look here first. She arranged to make it look like she’s at a friend’s in Virginia. She reveals she used a pre-paid debit card to hide herself. She goes, telling him she’ll wait to hear from him. Summer goes upstairs and Kyle reveals all. She’s not that surprised but worries this is a leap off a cliff. Kyle’s disturbed and isn’t sure what to do. Maybe he should claim paternity. Summer thinks the fallout will be horrible.

At home, Rey and Sharon promise not to let their issues get bad again. Faith appears, glad to be told that he’s back for good. “Welcome home,” she says and lies on the sofa. Sharon goes off to make her something to eat and Rey apologizes for the troubles between him and her mother. Sharon eavesdrops as Rey tells her kid he’ll do everything in his power to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Faith is glad for his honesty because lying got her nothing but trouble. She tells him that Dad told Moses not to visit because he doesn’t think she’s strong enough. Rey knows they’re being protective. He’ll talk to her mother. “Thanks, Rey, you’re the best.” She goes upstairs and Sharon returns with a sandwich and milk. She tells Rey she’s all in with their marriage and goes to take the food to her kid.
At Devon’s, Amanda still has doubts about Imani wanting to meet with her. She’ll keep her guard up and thanks him for having her back. Moses saunters down the steps reading his cell. Amanda says goodbye and he shrugs off a “Bye,” before she goes. Later, Moses watches basketball with Devon and flashes to meeting faith and talking about his father’s seemingly perfect life but how he was underneath it all, an addict. He flashes to telling her he was taught how to play chess in New York. He comes back to reality and tells Devon he wants to be there for Faith since she’s been through a lot. Devon asks what they are. “We’re a thing. No labels.” He admits he likes her a lot. Devon puts on the parental hat and guides Devon. He gets a text from Faith and grins. Devon comments that he knows who that’s from.

Amanda meets with Imani at Crimson Lights. They talk about Sutton’s strong opinions but she refuses to be bullied. He believes his political career is his family’s lifeblood but she says he works at trying to keep a balance. Amanda brings up the bribery and Imani says he may have cut a few corners but he never would have killed to keep his secrets. Amanda asks how she knows since she wasn’t even born then. Imani says she trusts her family. Amanda asks if she thinks he’s capable of murder. Imani says from a defense standpoint, it shouldn’t matter. Amanda wants to know what her family thinks. Imani likes Amanda’s candor and says, “Yes.” She thinks he’s capable of murder, most people are. It depends how far people are pushed. Amanda welcomes Imani to the team.
Summer and Kyle reappear at Society. Jack demands to know what’s going on. Neither kid tells anyone anything. Mariah’s quiet and then admits she wants to cut into the cake. She’s having her first pregnancy craving. “We were just about to have some cake. That is if this beautiful pregnant woman saves some for the rest of us.” Mariah glares and Abby apologizes.
Phyllis and Nick meet at the club. Christian feels better. Phyllis tells him the kids returned to the party but were tight-lipped about Tara. Phyllis asks him not to confront Kyle. They’re adults. Summer can work out her own problems. Nick agrees. “There are some other things that I’d like to do with you tonight.” She grins seductively. He says, “Yeah, I guess it can wait til morning.” In their room, Kyle says he knows what he needs to do about his son when a knock comes at the door. It’s Ashland!

Amanda arrives back at Devon’s and tells him about her meeting. She thinks Imani is still hiding something and found it strange that she admitted that Sutton could kill if he was forced into it. Why would she even go there? Amanda’s more determined than ever to find out more about her relatives. Devon tells her to turn off that lawyer switch and she grins and lures him up the stairs.
