General Hospital recap for Wednesday, October 12, 2022. In today’s GH episode, Michael and Dex remain determined to take Sonny down, Cam wonders why Joss is tied up with Dex, Carly speaks to the guild in Jacksonville, and Ava and Sonny talk trust.
We also have Tuesday’s GH recap where Dex refused to tell Dante anything, Trina worried to Ava about going away with Rory, and Esme dropped a bomb — she’s pregnant.
At Wyndemere, Esme reveals her baby bump to Nikolas and informs him that he’s the father.
Nikolas can’t believe it. She tells him it’s her get-out-of-jail-free card. He insists the child can’t be his.
She insists he’s the only man she’s been with. The prince demands a paternity test.
As he starts drinking, she tells him their baby deserves something better than a drunk for a father.
He points out they already have a murderer for a mother. She is already screwed, and pregnancy won’t keep her out of prison.
Esme is adamant that he will make sure she never takes a step behind bars. He thinks she’s deranged.
She starts taunting him about Spencer being in Pentonville. Sitting down, she suggests he hire the best lawyer money can buy to keep her out. When he refuses, she threatens to go to Ava.
He doesn’t see the point in telling Ava about this and claims she can handle it. Esme thinks that’s sweet but delusional. Ava would lose it.
She claims that other people already know she’s there. He asks her to stay out of sight while he finds her a lawyer. The prince knows just the place to stash her.
He shows her into the storage wing where the staff never go. There is no wi-fi. He locks her in and tells her he won’t let her harm anyone else.
She screams and pounds on the door.
Michael stops by Dex’s and commends him for how well he sold his innocent to Sonny.
After Dex reassures him that he can handle all of this because he used to be a mercenary, he wonders if Michael can handle what this will do to his siblings.
Michael admits he worries about this but he’s willing to be the bad guy to stop Sonny. Someone has to do it and if it costs him his siblings, then so be it.
He urges Dex to convince Joss that he doesn’t deserve his protection so that she will stay out of the line of fire.
At Kelly’s, Joss admits to Cam she didn’t make it to Brando’s memorial. He asks where she was instead but doesn’t get much of an answer.
Things are awkward between them. He points out that they haven’t had sex since their first time. She wonders if that’s a problem.
“Kinda, yeah,” he admits. He assures her there is no rush and she explains that their first time was great, but Esme ruined things.
She still feels as close to him as ever, but hasn’t gotten past that yet.
Michael strolls in looking for sweet potato pie. After Cam leaves to get it, Joss tells her brother about Dex. He begs her to let go of it but she doesn’t want Sonny terrorizing people.
Michael explains that Dante questioned Dex, but he denied everything. She rushes out as soon as he turns his back.
When Cam returns, Michael tells him about Joss’ concerns for Dex. Cam is confused so Michael explains. He suggests they keep her as far away from Dex as possible.
Joss shows up at Dex’s and asks why he’s throwing everything away to cover for Sonny.
She’s outraged he did this. He’s grateful that she tried to stand up for him. She reminds him of all the corpses Sonny has buried outside of town.
Dex explains that he used to be a mercenary for corporations. Risking his life for Sonny is less horrible. This is an opportunity for advancement.
She thinks it is inevitable that Sonny will turn on him just like he turned on her mother. If he winds up hanging from a meat hook again, he better not call her for help.
As soon as she leaves, she gets a text from Cam saying they need to talk about something important.

Kelly Thiebaud exits and the latest GH comings and goings
Ava bursts into Pozzulo’s and demands to speak to Sonny. They need to talk before Trina ends up dead. She admits she hasn’t been directly threatened but Oz is dead.
He tells her about Brando’s memorial and how he tried to make peace with Michael. He only got stabbed in the back when his son went to the cops about Dex.
She’s impressed that Dex covered for him and say he’s a keeper.
Sitting down, Sonny admits he’s trying to figure out how to make things right with his son. She tells him there’s nothing he can do so he should stop trying.
Ava says that people hurt their loved ones. If they truly repent, they deserve a second chance. But Michael is just wallowing.
He offers to have his people look out for Trina until the killer is caught.
Ava thanks him and admits she’ll be moving back to Wyndemere soon. This appalls him. Flashing back to her husband admitting he had sex with Esme, she admits they have issues.
Unlike Michael, her husband actually wants to work things out. When things are good between them, they are very good.
“Good luck with that,” he says. As she exits, she tells him how good it has been to have Trina to mentor. She thinks the same thing could be true for he and Dex.
Sonny calls Dex and tells him they need to speak about his future.
In his Metro Court suite, Victor talks to deputy mayor Ashby on the phone as Lucy listens in the other room. Valentin and Anna are also eavesdropping through a bug.
Ashby tells Victor that Anna and Robert are still digging into his connection to Luke’s death. There is only so much she can do to keep a lid on it.
Johann nearly catches Lucy listening in. She covers and is about to take off. Johann won’t let her leave until he’s swept for bugs.
Once he’s finished, Lucy exits.
Lucy runs out to the park to meet with Anna and Valentin. They are relieved to see she got away, but they had to shut the bug off.
She informs them that she listened in on the other phone and learned that Victor is working with the deputy mayor.
Lucy gloats about being a great spy but they need her to stop for her own safety. Miffed, she stomps off.
Anna and Valentin guess that Ashby has been working with Victor all along.
Back in his suite, Victor notices his phone is off the hook and Lucy’s lipstick is on it. “Oh Lucy!” he groans.
In Jacksonville, Carly goes to the guild meeting with Drew. This is her last chance to save the cemetery where her mother is buried. After she has words with Payton, the meeting starts.
They sit through the proceedings until the construction plan comes up. Carly stands up to speak, explaining that many people in the community were not consulted about it.
Payton dismisses her and points out she abandoned the community years ago. She just likes to fly in and disrupt decent people’s lives.
Carly hopes she’s not referring to herself. She claims she has no shame about her family or either of her mothers. She spent years trying to pave over who she was but quickly learned that ignoring her history doesn’t work.
That cemetery is a vital part of the city’s history. She begs them not to move her mother and pave over the city’s heart.
The committee thanks her once she finishes. They will vote in private and announce the results on their website.
After she and Drew exit, he tells her she was amazing. She’s not sure she’s done enough.
