General Hospital recap for Wednesday, October 19, 2022. In today’s GH episode, Diane doesn’t remember anything new, Esme tries to escape the tower, and Kristina bickers with her mother.
We also have Tuesday’s GH recap where Lucy was shot on the pier and Esme warned Nikolas that her father is alive and dangerous.
Ava barges into Wyndemere demanding some answers from Nikolas. He tells her now doesn’t work.
She asks if Victor was telling the truth when he said they were getting a divorce. The prince flashes back to his uncle ordering him to end his marriage.
Nikolas tells Ava he will spend the rest of his life trying to win her back and no one will stand in his way.
He’s sure she wants him too. She says he’s being arrogantly presumptuous and refuses to admit to anything.
When she says she needs to go to the tower to get some files, he tells her she can’t.
“What is really going on here?” she demands. He claims a pipe burst and her stuff has been boxed up.
As he shows her to the door, he claims he needs to check on how the repair work is going. He repeats that they don’t need a divorce but the ball is in her court.
Up in the tower, Esme tries to figure a way out. Using a wire from the back of a painting, she tries to crack the lock. No dice.
Frustrated, Esme starts smashing things and screaming. She feels the baby moving around and stops.
After giving herself a pep talk, she returns to fiddling with the lock. This time it works.
When she opens the door, Nikolas bars her exit.
They bicker about what she did to him. He’s sick of her. She taunts him. He says she can scream all she wants and no one will come.
He locks her in the bathroom and tells her that he’s removing everything but the bed. She warns he will be sorry. He already is.
In Pentonville, Spencer runs into his uncle Cyrus in the library again. He doesn’t hide how skeptical he is of Cyrus’ newfound religious faith.
Cyrus tells him how much he values family and how much he regrets pushing Martin and Laura away. He can see a means to make amends with Spencer.
Spencer says the adopt-an-inmate program has been discontinued. Chuckling, Cyrus offers him his help dealing with the other inmates.
Book shows up, telling him he’ll be in trouble if he relies on the old man from protection. He threatens Spencer, warning him that his Corinthos connections can’t protect him 24/7.
He demands his work assignment back in exchange for protection. Spencer turns him down.
When Cyrus gets between them, Book punches him. When he tries again, Cyrus wrenches his arm, throws him against the wall, and orders him out.
A guard walks in and Cyrus says that Book has a shiv. The guard finds it and drags Book away to solitary.
Cyrus admits that he set Book up. Spencer guesses he should thank him.
Before Cyrus leaves, Spencer hands him a translation of the New Testament that just came in. “Now I don’t owe you anything,” he says.
Alexis visits Diane at General Hospital. The lawyer asks her why she goaded her attacker. Diane appreciates her making the effort, but Alexis worries it might have backfired.
Her friend explains the attack has put her life into perspective. She wonders what she could be missing.
Robert steps in, happy to see Diane awake as Alexis takes off. He’s glad that she is recovering smoothly. She feels like the universe may have sent her a message.
When he asks if she’s recalled any more details from the attack, she can still only remember it was a woman and her life flashing before her eyes. He knows that experience.
They discuss their scars. He remembers how uncomfortable he was feeling vulnerable while facing death. Facing her mortality has been sobering for Diane.
After they quote poetry to each other, he tells her he misses sparring with her in court and will have to come back to spar with her in there.

Kelly Thiebaud exits and the latest GH comings and goings
Dante and Kristina join Sonny for a meal at the Metro Court. They chat about Dex. She was always confident he was innocent. Her father was less convinced.
The cops gets called away by work. Once he’s gone, Sonny tells his daughter he is proud of all his children. “Even Michael?” she asks.
Sonny explains he may not be blood-related to Michael, but he’s turned out to be the one the most like him. Things seem to be over between them.
Kristina doesn’t believe that. Her mom shows up and fills them in on Diane’s recovery. Sonny walks off to take care of something.
Alexis tells Kristina it was nice of her to call Diane and send flowers to Brando’s funeral.
They rehash Alexis questioning her daughter’s professional choices. She can see she seems happy with what she’s doing. Alexis never wants her to think she’s not proud of her.
Sonny meets Dex in the alcove and thanks him for not holding what happened to him against him.
Mistakes were made and he was treated unfairly. Now he knows how strong and discrete he is.
Dex just hopes he proved his loyalty. Sonny tells him that’s important and rare.
Dex knows he can’t fill Jason’s shoes but he wants to try.
Anna is on the pier looking for Lucy on pier 47. Meanwhile, Lucy is startled when a familiar face approaches her on pier 55 and shoots her.
Anna rushes over after hearing the shots and finds only Lucy’s shoe. Victor shows up and explains he was on his way to see Lucy when he heard the shots.
They both make calls. He can barely control laughing when her head is turned.
Dante and some cops arrive. She shows him the shoe and tells him about the gunshots. Victor says Lucy seems to have disappeared. Dante orders a dive team.
Anna and Victor begin arguing about Valentin. He wonders why she’s dragging him into Lucy’s situation. He tells Dante how troubling this is and hopes Lucy didn’t meet with foul play.
After the Cassadine leaves, Anna gives Dante her statement. She explains she was worried that Lucy might be in jeopardy. She’s sure Victor knew she would be there.
He trusts her gut about this and wonders why Victor would target her. She admits Lucy was working for her and he found out. He reminds her that if anyone can survive Victor, it’s Lucy.
Victor drops by the Metro Court and finds Ava at the bar. He’s surprised she isn’t happier about Nikolas ending their marriage. She insists her marriage is none of his concern.
Victor says that his nephew is hardly her equal. She’s too much woman for him and he’d hate to see her wasted on one man.
Ava wonders who she would replace Nikolas with. “You and I Ava… we both deserve better,” he tells her.
A woman claws her way onto the shore.
