(Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for August 22, 2023 episode airs in the USA on August 23. Live by 4:15 PM EST daily.)
Mariah and Tessa sit in the park and enjoy the sun. Tessa is glad she’s enjoying her last day of leisure.
They joke about how much “brain space” Mariah is going to be using back at work with Sharon.
Tessa admits she’s glad there will be some space between them at Marchetti.
That means she can focus on modeling instead of sneaking into her office.
Thunder cracks and they wonder why their daughter isn’t waking up.
When there is more lightening, they wake her up to make sure she’s okay.
They wonder why she doesn’t have a problem with loud noises.
Sharon meets with Esther at Crimson Lights. She tells him about her new media company.
Esther says she will have her plate full. That’s why Sharon asked her over.
The new company will be taking most of her focus so she needs someone she can count on to run the coffee shop.
Esther guesses she’s offering her a job.
She’s been thrilled to work with family at Chancellor-Winters, but after being there awhile, she’s realized there are things she doesn’t like.
It’s just video conferences and there’s almost no human interaction.
Sharon says people will have to interact with her if she works there.
Esther remembers that she liked working there.
She’ll have to talk to Devon and Lily but she’d be happy to accept.
Sharon is thrilled and Esther says she should be able to start soon.
Mariah and Tessa arrive with Aria. Esther fawns over the baby and then takes off.
Sharon breaks the news that she’s the manager and is sure that Esther will give the shop the care it deserves.
She has lots of good memories of the place. Cassie sure loved it.
They sit and go on about how excited they are for everything at SNA.
There is more thunder and Sharon notices how paranoid they are about the baby not reacting.
They fill her in about what happened in the park.
Is it normal for her not to react to loud sounds? Sharon says Faith was a deep sleeper too.
She tells them to relax and stop scaring themselves for no reason.
If they are really worried about her hearing, they can have her tested.
The moms tell themselves that they are freaking out about nothing.
Sharon calls for a pediatrician’s appointment anyway.
Then they can stop worrying about that and worry about something else.
They tell her she’s the best. “I know,” says Sharon.
She suggests they leave the baby with her so they can have a date night.
They agree to a raincheck.
At Society, Nick tells Sally she’s a sexy lady who can distract him from pretty much anything.
She suggests they continue this in her suite.

Kyle bumps into Summer in the lobby of the GCAC.
They chat about Harrison’s pencils and his reading skills.
She suggests it’s time for a divorce. They’re in limbo and someone had to say this.
She can accept that he has no interest in saving their marriage.
It’s time to formalize that and make it permanent.
Nick and Sally walk in and spot them.
He sends her upstairs so he can check on his daughter.
He walks over and asks to speak to Kyle alone.
Summer tells her dad he doesn’t need to do this.
He does anyway. She takes off and they get beers.
They catch up. Kyle knows he’s been through a rough couple of months.
Nick knows that his daughter crossed a line and can understand why he’s so frustrated with her.
They rehash all that happened with Phyllis and her fake death.
Nick adds his daughter’s heart is broken and assumes there must still be some love between them and they can work this out.
Kyle is sure that Nick has had relationships end and it isn’t always about love.
Nick admits that but thinks that they have built a perfect little family and have known each other for so long.
Summer’s mistake can’t destroy one of the most solid couples he’s ever seen, can it?
Kyle is sorry but he’s done and Nick shouldn’t be asking him to forgive her for her betrayal.
What she did still hurts and Summer is more like Phyllis than he ever imagined.
Nick insists that his daughter has grown up and he’s proud of her confidence and maturity.
That’s not enough for Kyle. Just as Phyllis will never change, Summer never will. Even if he gave the marriage a second chance, he would just be waiting for the shoe to drop.
Family harmony is impossible and he doesn’t want that for Harrison.
He can’t live that way and Summer has already told him she’s ready to move on with a divorce. Nick doubts that’s what’s really in her heart.
In her suite, Summer sobs.
After she gets dressed, Kyle shows up.
He tells her it’s time to end the torture and start moving forward with the divorce.
She agrees and hopes they can keep this friendly for Harrison’s sake.
He says they can handle it as adults.
Before he can leave, she says she’s really sorry for everything.
So is he. He walks out. She sighs.
Alone, he flashes back through the collapse of their marriage, pouts, and then removes her wedding ring.
At home, Adam is happy as he looks at pictures of the new business office.
He’ll be able to see Newman Tower from there.
He calls Sally to tell her how great the view is and that means she should reconsider his job offer.
She reminds him that there are many reasons why working at SNA is a bad idea.
She’s only up to a pleasant, stable work environment.
He suggests she take the job for Nick’s sake.
She agrees to a meeting but won’t promise anything.
Getting off the phone, he looks at plans and says, “It’s a new day, Dad and now I’m going to show you what I’m made of.”
Nick joins Sally in her suite and tells her about his conversation with Kyle.
He just wants to shake some sense into him and make him realize he’s giving up the best thing that’s ever happened to him.
But it’s not his fight.
Nick wishes he could take his little girl’s pain away.
Tearing up, Sally says he would have been the best bonus dad to Ava.
He holds her and she apologizes for making this all about her.
He knows she’s grieving and that’s how it works.
He says he would have done all he could to be a great father to her baby. Maybe he still could.
She asks if he’s saying he still wants to have a kid with her. He’s not saying that and he’s not not saying that.
If they ever reach a point where it’s something they both want, he would be excited.
He’s sure she would be an amazing mother. They kiss.
Kyle sits in the dining room and drinks alone.
Audra sends a text asking if he wants to meet.
He turns her down, claiming he’s “wiped.”
