Thurs Oct 5, Y&R day ahead recap: Diane gets a dress from Lauren, Danny gives Phyllis a pep talk, and Kyle is asked to officiate his parents’ vow renewal.
Wednesday’s Y&R day ahead: Mamie Calls Her Secret Co-Conspirator as Jill Warns Devon About Mamie, and Jack and Diane Agree to Renew Their Vows

Lauren is at Crimson Lights. Phyllis spots her and flashes back to their brunch.
She walks over and her smile falls when she sees she’s holding a dress for Diane.
This in unbelievable to Phyllis. “Just like a knife in my back,” she says.
Laurens says Jack asked her for a favor, What was she supposed to do?
Phyllis asks if she gave Jack a dunce cap.
Her friend urges her to let go of the Diane thing if she wants people to think she’s changed.
She says none of this makes Diane any less horrible.
Lauren tells her this was hard for her and hopes she’s not planning on blowing up this reception.
Phyllis says she won’t show up because she would just start dry-heaving at the sight of Diane.
When Lauren explains Chloe is delivering the dress, she asks when she starts working with Daniel.
Phyllis admits it’s not finalized. Her son has made it clear she will be under the microscope.
Her friend doesn’t think she can blame him for that. He’s thrown her a life raft and she should be grateful.
Chloe arrives and Lauren reminds Phyllis that she promises no fireworks before she takes off. Chloe exits with the dress.
In the GCAC dining room, Billy is surprised to see that Tucker is still in town.
He reminds McCall of the dirt he has on him and his faiulure to frame him for embezzlement.
Tucker says he’s not leaving his son or grandson and assures him he’s not out for revenge on the Abbotts.
“You win, congratulations,” he says, telling him he’s forced him to abandon his plans.
Billy isn’t convinced and wants him out of Genoa City for good,
McCall thinks that Billy is even more mercenary than he thought.
Billy insists his only objective is to protect his family legacy.
Tucker says he sounds just like Ashley. He has to wonder if they are a family or a cult.
Billy advises him not to stick his head into the festivities today.
Tucker is sarcastic; Billy will be watching the skies for a helicopter.
Once Billy is gone, Tucker recalls warning Audra that the Abbotts have dirt on them.
McCall sends Audra a text, telling her she needs to reignite the flame with Kyle.
He thinks and has a drink.
At the Abbott estate, Traci and Jack sort out the plans for the day.
Diane runs down, eager to see her dress arrive. She ordered it from Lauren and is worried it hasn’t arrived yet.
Traci guesses she’s worried Phyllis will sabotage their celebrations.
They all know Phyllis is Phyllis but she’s on probation now.
Diane is sure she can find a way to ruin things even without breaking laws.
Jack doesn’t think she will risk ruining things with her kids and Traci assures her it will be a beautiful afternooon.
Kyle drifts in and they remind him its the day of the reception.
He jokes he forgot and asks if he can bring a date.
They wonder if he means Audra. He reminds them they’ve cooled things.
His father thinks that’s for the best. Kyle doesn’t appreciate them treating it like it was just a tryst.
His mom hopes he will bring Summer for Harrison’s sake.
Their son makes it clear that they are not getting back together but they are getting along.
Jack and Diane ask him if he will officiate their vow renewal.
He’s honored to be asked. They’re thrilled and hug.
Chloe shows up with the dress, apologizing for Lauren. She had to run to Chicago.
Diane tells her no apologies are necessary and is happy to have the dress.
Chloe tells then that Lauren was no about to pass up the chance to put a smile on Jack’s face.
Jack and Kyle hug their son and talk about becoming a family again.

Billy arrives and chats with Jack about his wonderful morning before running into Tucker.
Jack wonders why he’s still in town.
His brother shows him confirmation that he’s returned all the funds he supposedly embezzled.
Jack assures him he didn’t doubt him for a second and offers him his hand. They hug.
The brothers mull over why Tucker is sticking around and aren’t convinced it’s for his family.
They worry about Tucker showing up to the celebration. Billy will be keeping his eyes open.
Jack doesn’t want him to waste his time with that. Leave it to the security team.
Today is about love and romance and he wants it to be perfect.
When Diane appears in her dress, it takes his breath away.
He says she looks like an angel. She feels like a queen.
Everyone gathers in the garden. Kyle, Traci and Summer talk about how excited Harrison is.
She spots Chance and Kyle notices her staring at him with Sharon on his arm before walking off.
The other guests file in and Jack welcomes everyone for coming to this celebration.
To the naysayers, he suggests they look into their eyes and see how powerful their love story really is.
Everyone claps.
Phyllis goes down to the lounge. Danny is playing the piano. He stops when he spots her but she urges him to continue.
Eventually, he needs to take a break. She offers to buy him a drink.
They sit at the bar. It’s awkward.
She asks how much their son hates her.
Danny says their son will always love her, he just doesn’t trust her and is disappointed in her.
She asks if he understands how hard she is working.
He assumes he does but it all makes him sad. It makes him sad too.
What makes Phyllis sad it that everyone is always judging her and refusing to give her the benefit of the doubt.
She feels like everyone sees her as a she-devil she’s not anymore. She doesn’t devour souls and lives.
He reminds her of how many people are still pulling for her.
“Even you? After everything I did to you?” she asks. She thinks he should be flattered that she chose to seduce and drug him.
She’s kidding.
Danny points out that he’s still there and so are her kids.
They just need proof she can be trusted this time.
That sounds lovely but where does she start.
He urges her to stop with the woes me attitude. Happiness comes from inside and no one owes it to her.
“You really are sunshine and roses,” she groans.
He says that’s how it works and she always scoffs at any suggestion that could make her turn things around.
Phyllis asks if he’s telling her to choose her own happiness.
He doesn’t want her to pretend. He wants her to start believing in herself. Then people will believe in her too.
They go back to the piano to finish his song.
He finishes working out the bridge to his song and thanks her for being so inspiring,
She thanks him for being so empathetic. They hold hands.

“Does Christine still hold a special place in your heart even now?” Phyllis asks Danny.
“Of course,” Danny says.
Heather informs Daniel that she’s decided to wrap up her law practice in Europe and move back home to Genoa City.
“I absolutely hate it that Adam is manipulating you,” Nick tells Sally.
He doesn’t think that this will change as long as Adam is around.
“What are you saying?” she asks.
Tucker tells Devon he doesn’t want to put any more chaos into his life. Devon hopes that’s true but asks what his connection to Aunt Mamie is.
