(Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for August 17, 2023 episode airs in the USA on August 18. Live by 4:15 PM EST daily.)
At Crimson Lights, Billy spots Chelsea confronting Connor on the patio about how he’s been behaving.
Billy interrupts and checks in, telling Connor that he has nightmares too.
Chelsea leaves them alone and Billy asks him about his nightmares. Connor tells him of a dream about drowning.
Billy gets that dream too and knows how scary and confusing it is.
But when he wakes up, he realizes everything is okay. Connor doesn’t feel okay when he wakes up. Everything seems bad.
Billy tells him that’s when you have to talk to someone.
Connor tells him he won’t have any friends when Johnny leaves for boarding school.
He doesn’t want to go back to Walnut Grove.
At any other school, he will still be the kid with the disturbed mom.
Billy asks if he’s being bullied. Connor doesn’t want his mom to worry about him. She might not be able to handle it.
The Abbott assures him she’s stronger than he thinks and her number one priority is his well-being.
She won’t let him down.
The kid is tired so Billy suggests he go have a nap.
Billy joins Chelsea in the other room and tells her it sounds like her son is being bullied.
He feels like he has to defend her. That breaks her heart. He’s afraid her son may feel hopeless.
She points out that they’ve tried to get him help but he keeps shutting down.
Her mom calls to say that Connor just called and asked to move in. She’s shocked and assumes her son wants to get away from her.
Chelsea heads upstairs to see her son but returns a moment later to declare that he is gone along with his backpack and a bunch of clothes.
Adam runs into Sally in the park and asks when she starts her new job at Newman.
Standing up, she explains that Victor pulled the plug and he did it because of him.
He kicks the ground and curses his father for being a jerk.
When he offers to fix it, she says Victor didn’t give off the vibe this could be fixed.
She got the feeling this was part of a bigger plan. Clearly, he doesn’t think he needs to keep his eye on her anymore.
He offers her a job, but she refuses again. Adam says this merger will happen because he deserves it.
She thinks he should be more grateful for what he has and adds she can get a job of her own.
She and Chloe will have to go back to square one.
Spectra just wonders if this was all about Victor showing how in control he is. Adam thinks it was about putting him in his place.
After Adam leaves, Sally spots Connor wandering by. He heard about her baby and asks if she’s okay.
She says it was sad but it gets better every day.
He claims he’s going to a friend’s house. She says it’s hot and asks him to get her some water.
After he leaves to do that, she makes a call.
Adam is called over to Crimson Lights as Chelsea panics. Chance joins them to say that they have checked every route out of town. Billy assumes this is all a cry for help.
Sally calls Adam to say she’s found Connor.
He fills in for Chelsea, who is relieved and determined to talk to her son. He suggests she give him some space. Billy calms her down.
Back in the park, Sally convinces Connor to stick around and catch-up.
He doesn’t want to talk. She understands and tells him she didn’t want to talk about the baby but it helps to talk.
Sally urges him to open up. He admits he’s running away.
She has done that a bunch of times, thinking it would solve her problems, but they only followed her. He doesn’t know what to do.
Spectra tells him to tell the people who care about him what’s going on.
She offers to walk him to the coffee house to see his dad.
When she takes him to his parents, he tells them he hates this town and wants to live with his grandmother and go to school there.
