Monday, July 31, Y&R day ahead recap: Chance tries to reassure Summer about her future, Abby thinks her mom is getting married for revenge, and Lily gives Daniel a romantic distraction.
Friday’s Y&R day ahead: Nick was angered that Adam went behind his back and Phyllis accepted Adam’s job offer but needs a favor first.

At the Chancellor estate, Abby urges her mom to let the feud go. Jack and Diane are married and there’s nothing she can do.
There’s a lot her mom plans to do. This wasn’t a madcap rope-tying, it was a bullet aimed at her.
She’ll show them they can’t shoot her down. Abby thinks this will just hurt the family.
So does Devon, who compares this to what happened in his family recently.
Tucker thinks this is totally different and Ashley is sure Diane will destroy Jabot.
It doesn’t make sense to Abby that she left Jabot to save it.
Abby is starting to think she wants Diane to ruin Jabot just to prove she’s right. Her mom thinks that’s an awful thing to say.
Devon suggests they focus on something positive, like the upcoming wedding.
Abby brings out the folder of stuff she’s been putting together for the wedding.
They rush across the room to look through it and Tucker thanks Devon for finding a distraction. He thanks him again for letting them have the wedding there.
Devon says he’ll always be welcome in the house. His father asks him if he’ll be his best man.
Devon would be happy to.
That’s a relief to his father. He was so nervous to ask him. He knows he hasn’t totally earned his trust back but this feels like a step forward.
Abby and her mom go over wedding details but it’s clear Ashley hasn’t thought of anything.
Her daughter thinks this wedding is just a way to get back at her enemies, the same thing she accused Diane of.
Ashley tells her not to compare them to that sham.
Abby wants no part of a revenge plan and tells her she can take her wedding somewhere else.
After Tucker and Ashley leave, Abby tells Devon that she’s angry with her mom.
Tucker isn’t pushing the feud, her mom is, and there may be no coming back from it.
At the GCAC, Lily calls Daniel and asks him to hurry upstairs for a surprise.
He jogs up and is startled that she’s set up some easels so he can draw fruit.
“It’s a nice idea… a little odd maybe,” he says.
She thinks this could be a good distraction.
It’s not speaking to him.
If still life isn’t working for him, she has another idea and wanders off.
When she returns in a robe, she drops it and says he can draw her.
He doesn’t think he can do her justice.
Lily tells him to try and then she can draw him. He gets drawing and then she admires his work before undressing him.
They start making out until she stops to draw him as a stick figure.
He thinks that’s worthy of a prize so they climb into bed.
After sex, they cuddle and then he draws her in bed, thanking her.

Chance runs into Summer at Crimson Lights and she tells him it’s been a long day.
He offers to listen but she doesn’t want to talk. The cop assumes her mom has done something.
She doesn’t trust her instincts and is keeping her mouth shut this time.
They sit and he offers to listen as a friend as long as doesn’t talk about anything criminal.
Summer admits she has the feeling her mom isn’t being honest about something big.
She’s afraid this will make the nightmare even worse. All her mom does is keep apologizing.
Plus, she’s worried Christine is starting to look at her as an accessory and she could wind up in prison.
He thinks that he can convince Christine to drop her case. It’s pretty weak already.
The only evidence she has is Kyle’s testimony.
She’s sure Kyle would be happy to speak against her. He thinks Kyle has an agenda and this can still be dropped.
Summer is a little relieved but then starts beating herself up about her marriage ending.
He assures her she is just trying to protect her mom. Anyone who doesn’t understand that is heartless.
She vents about Kyle sleeping with Audra and then remembers what happened to Chance.
He can sympathize with her. He’s been in the same place and now sees his marriage was dying.
Summer thought that she and Kyle could go the distance but now doubts it. She wishes she could be in the forgiving position that Chance is. He says time and distance help.
She thinks he’s very wise but he just thinks she’s too hard on herself.
It’s hard for her to accept and move on. The cop tells her to take it an hour at a time.
She’s having a hard time focusing on anything so he encourages her to focus on her own life.
Summer has realized her mom will never change and thanks him for letting her get this off her chest.
Phyllis arrives at Adam’s new place with a cactus. “You shouldn’t have,” he says.
She tells him the gift is a symbol of their future. A cactus is prickly and never dies.
She asks how his brother reacted to the news that she will be working for the company.
He admits Nick and Sharon were not happy but they came on board.
It took a bit of a song and dance but Nick wants things to be okay between her and her kids.
She appreciates that and wants this to work with as little drama as possible.
That makes Adam chuckle. He’s not guaranteeing serenity but he thinks this crazy idea can work. He asks what her conditions for taking the job are.
Phyllis needs him to find something to take Tucker down.
He’s advised against that, at least until the trial is over.
She says this isn’t about vengeance: it’s a necessity. Adam wants more details but she’s not giving them.
He refuses to get involved in anything shady while he’s under the microscope at work.
Phyllis is disappointed that he’s marching to his family’s tune. He intends to keep himself free and clear of obstacles. What game is he playing?
Adam says that asks him to trust her is a big ask. He needs more details but she still refuses so Adam tells her to go to someone else.
It’s clear she needs someone to do her dirty work for her.
She’s sure there must be some dirt in the company he’s taken over.
Phyllis doesn’t need to destroy McCall, she just needs the means to do it.
The Newman guesses what Tucker must have over her is a matter of life and death.
She offers to work for free for six months.
He thinks he’s figured out what Tucker has on her and it involved the EMT being paid off.
If that’s the case, it changes everything.
She admits Tucker has her freedom in his hands. Adam admires her ability to play poker with a lousy hand but has to think about whether he will help her.
“Don’t think too long,” she says, exiting.
