Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for Wednesday, December 15, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Thursday, December 16. (Recaps live by 5:45 PM EST daily.) In the previous episode, Chelsea reunited with Connor. In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, the blonde mystery woman is revealed, Chelsea asks Adam about working with Sally, and Mariah goes to visit Abby, Chance and Dominic and is saddened that they’re not home.
Connor, Adam and Chelsea arrive at the condo. Connor is glad to be back. Adam tells him he has two homes — here and at the ranch. Connor asks for a Christmas tree and Adam says his granddad always has a big one. Connor thinks this will be the best Christmas ever since Mom’s home. Chelsea causes him the greatest gift. He jumps on the sofa, happily, and reminds them of their movie nights when they were “a real family.” It’s awkward as he asks them if they too thought it was “the best.”
Adam considers his words and tells him he’ll have a lot of movie and pizza nights now that his mom’s home. Connor excitedly goes to his room and Chelsea thinks Adam managed his expectations of them well. He says he moved to the ranch because of the memories. She asks which ones. They talk about what they could have done wrong but he tells her there is no going back. She thinks they had so many great things going for them. Adam tells her the most important thing is their kid.
She asks how things are going for Chloe and Sally. She brings up him going to Italy with Sally. He tells her he gave her a lift because of Victoria’s dress. Chelsea wants to meet Sally in person before she joins the team. Adam asks if she thinks they won’t get along. Chelsea is taking it slow. Adam’s fine with that. He goes to say goodbye to Connor.
The mysterious blonde at Society takes off her sunglasses. It’s Sally in disguise. Chloe walks up and gets a gander at her. “Sally? What the hell are you doing?” She claims she’s going to have something hot to drink. Chloe doubts that. She knows something is up. Chloe badgers her and Sally admits she went undercover to spy on Billy in order to save the fashion division. Chloe snaps at her to stick to designing. Sally lets her coworker know she was concerned about Bill and decided to see what he was planning.
She knows Billy will never forgive Adam for the death of her daughter, even though Adam has changed. Chloe reminds Sally that she called their relationship business only and can now see that the Newman is pulling at her strings. “It’s not like that,” Sally assures. Chloe tells her that’s exactly what it’s like. “Adam’s using you.”
Sally asserts that this was her idea but Chloe retorts that he manipulated her. Chloe accuses Sally of trying to impress him and she’s playing into his hands. Adam and Victor took Billy’s job away. Sally blames Billy. Chloe says she needs to decide if she’s going to play games with Adam or be a part of the team with hear and Chelsea.
At Crimson Lights, Noah sits with Mariah and Tessa. He got Tessa an early gift. She hopes it’s another scented candle, “Because you can’t think of anything else.” He hands over his tablet. He superimposed her face over a cityscape. Tessa and Mariah find it “beautiful.” Mariah calls the blue over saturated but that’s Noah’s favorite part.
She asks for another color. She calls it a little scary and says that’s just not Tessa and her music. Noah asks Tessa to tell “her manager” that she knows what she’s doing. Mariah thinks it’s important to have another person’s perspective, especially since see’s in a relationship with Tessa. Tessa agrees that it needs work.
She’s diplomatic and Noah finally asks if she’s siding with Mariah or him. Noah finally jokes that he was kidding. It’s not the real preview. Faith and Moses turn up. They make inside jokes about brownies being stolen last time they hung out there.
Tessa remembers that Faith took a bite of a brownie when her back was turned. Everyone laughs at how hysterically funny it is. Tessa swore she’d never leave a brownie out again. As they joke, Faith makes a joke about Mariah being the sensitive parent from sitcoms. Mariah looks away, uncomfortably. Faith calls Tessa the tough mom who doesn’t interrupt the heartwarming lecture. Noah thinks she’d be a pushover. Tessa gets them to talk about the album cover.
Moses admits he’s heard Tessa’s new songs. Faith can vouch for that. She heard him singing them when he thinks nobody is working. He’s been glad to work on it with Devon. They show the fake cover art to the kids as Mariah says she has reports to file back at work. Moses calls it “next level stuff.” Faith takes off fast and Noah worries that he drove her away with his lame attempt at a joke. Tessa tells him not to worry.
Nearby, Moses tries to get rid of Faith so he can buy her a Christmas present but she wants to go with him. Noah appears at her table and says, “He’s shopping for you, genius.” Faith laughs. Moses goes. Faith asks if he has feelings for Tessa still. He deflects. Tessa is with Mariah and what they had was a long time ago. Faith knows all that but she caught a vibe this time and other times that he was thinking ‘what if’? Noah says, “Nothing can be further from the truth.” He promises that they’re just friends. There are no residual feelings. “So you don’t look like a lovesick puppy when you see her?” He calls that look caused by his recent heartbreak.

Mariah arrives at Chancellor mansion. Nanny Louise opens the door. Mariah came by to see Abby and Chance. Louise says they’re not home. She asks if Dominic is there but he’s with his parents. She’ll let them know she dropped by. Mariah tells her not to. She’ll catch up with her later. Louise hopes she has a good day. She closes the door and Mariah looks forlorn.
Chloe and Sally walk into Adam’s office.”Yeah, don’t bother knocking. Just walk right in.” Chloe saw Chelsea and wants to get her in working. Adam knows she’s back. He just saw her. After speaking with her, he’s not sure she wants it as much as they do.
They need to be ready to move forward without her if he’s right. Chloe thinks all Chelsea wants is to know that there will be no vendettas waiting for her. Sally’s looking forward to meeting her. Chloe goes and Adam asks Sally to stay. She feels as though she’s being called to the principal’s office. He tells her he’s receiving videos of Billy that don’t paint him in the best light. She asks if he knows who sent them. “It’s from an anonymous source.” She considers that it sounds good that someone’s doing it for nothing. Adam can’t trust the source. He could be walking into a trap of Billy’s. She counters that it sounds like they have his best interests at heart. Adam asks if she has thoughts on who the person is.
At home, Tessa paces and Mariah finally arrives home. She admits she didn’t go to Jabot. She had to get out of the coffee shop. Tessa understands. Mariah knows Faith was joking and she doesn’t expect people to have baby-free conversations. Mariah admits she can’t stop thinking about what incredible parents they could be. She says she knows Dominic isn’t Bowie. She never thought she’d be the type who wanted kids and doesn’t recognize who she is.
But if Tessa told her she was ready to have a family, it’d be like every holiday rolled into one. Mariah knows this isn’t who she was when they met. Tessa thinks that’s fine. She knows they’ve both changed. She seems to become nervous and decides they should order dinner. Tessa tells her she can’t bring that up and change the subject without letting her respond. Tessa’s glad she was so honest. She may not be where Mariah is but she’s willing to talk about it.
Chloe arrives at Chelsea’s condo and asks if she’ll come to work with her at Newman Fashion. Chelsea reminds her that she’s still considering it. She doesn’t want to disappoint Chloe but doesn’t feel it’s the best move for her. Chloe’s shocked. Chelsea has thought about what she’s done and who she’s become. She’s disconnected to everyone except Connor. “Maybe I don’t belong in Genoa City anymore.”
