In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Imani and Nate find a lot in common, Chance comes across Abby with Devon in the park, and Summer reacts to Kyle’s news about his mother. In the previous episode, Nikki and Diane got into a slap fight.

Victor watches as Victoria drags her mother out of Crimson Lights before he approaches Diane. He tries to intimidate her but she tells him that not even his famous glare will get her to leave. She ran away because of all of them and it’s what ruined her relationship with Kyle.
Earning his forgiveness is worth anything he can put her through. Victor thinks Kyle will soon realize that she’s an incompetent mother and a selfish narcissist who won’t ever change. Once they’re gone, Billy finds Chance there and gives his condolences about Rey.
Chance thanks him and congratulates him on his job. They talk about his mother’s video from Bora Bora and “that ridiculous conch shell.”
Abby takes Dom for a walk in the park. Devon pops up and notices how pale he is. She lathered him up with sunscreen. They laugh at his concern that “comes from love.” They look at the clouds and Abby admits when she plays Baby Shark to him, Dom makes the same face that Devon makes.
Devon says not to sing it. “It’s like a form of child abuse,” he jokes. They laugh and Chance walks up, with a furrowed brow, taking it all in. He approaches and Devon takes off. Chance plays with his kid who throws Cheerios at him. He and Abby laugh.
Chance thinks it’s natural athletic ability. Abby assumes it comes from Devon and then apologizes. Chance brushes her off. They’ll see this a lot as he gets older. Chance feels confident in his role. Things feel easier. Natural. Abby’s noticed. They chat a bit and he goes to work.
Ashland arrives at Abbott manse to see Harrison but Jack says his son and daughter-in-law aren’t there. He has to wait for them to give the all clear, but he doesn’t think Ashland should see the kid. Ashland reminds the Abbott that they’ve an agreement.
Jack thinks he should get a court order to do that but doubts he’ll be able to. Ashland walks off in a huff.

At Society, Victor dines with Summer and Kyle. They discuss Ashland momentarily until everyone feels sickened. Talk turns to Harrison and Victor wants to teach him chess. They’re happy to let him do that. Victor admits he talked to Diane. He relays a bit of the conversation.
Vic remembers when she abandoned him. Kyle isn’t sure if he’s ready to cut her out of his life. He gets a call and excuses himself. Vic tells Summer that he’s sure Diane isn’t going to change. Kyle needs to never forget that. Summer nods. Victor goes and Kyle returns.
His call was about Marchetti. They can purchase it and it makes sense tax wise. Summer’s thrilled. They talk about possibly moving back. She wonders if it’s worth the risk. Kyle knows he needs to decide now if he should let his mom in their lives.
Ashland and Diane find each other in the Grand Phoenix. He fills her in on them not letting him see Harrison. He’s frustrated. Diane talks about how surrounded by love the kid is. Phyllis walks up. Of course they found each other, she gripes.
She goes and Diane says she’s leaving Genoa City.
He leaves and Phyllis later helps Diane check out. Kyle turns up as she’s settling the bill. Phyllis snaps that she’s glad to have distance between them. Diane asks for space and Phyllis steps away, within hearing distance. Kyle admits he doesn’t want her to leave.
She smiles and jumps into his arms. “Really?” Phyllis’ eyes widen in shock. He offers to p ay for her to stay at the Athletic Club. She refuses and he insists so she hugs him again, causing his eyes to widen in surprise.
Lily and Nate have coffee at Crimson Lights. They talk about the good work they did today.
They wait on Devon and she asks if Elena’s coming to the party. He’s not sure what her schedule is. Imani pops up and they talk about how much she and Nate have in common with her political background.
She smiles and says they have all sorts of things in common. She goes to get coffee. Later, Devon appears and bitches at Lily and Nate about something Nate decided on. Since Lily’s going out of town, they need to finalize their plans.
Nate apologizes for overstepping his boundaries and nearby, Imani eavesdrops with interest. Devon and Lily leave and Imani brings Nate coffee and wants to commiserate. Amanda taps the breaks a lot with her, too.
She respects Amanda’s accomplishments and wouldn’t have the job if it wasn’t for her but getting knocked down takes its toll. Nate sighs. They just started behind the curve. Imani doesn’t believe that’s what it’s about. She talks about their different backgrounds.
They both had loving backgrounds and Devon and Amanda were in and out of foster care. She wonders if Devon has a chip on his shoulder. Nate wouldn’t be surprised.
Lily head into work. Billy tells her about his encounter with Chance and how good it made him feel. She’s distant. Confused. She didn’t like that he talked on his podcast about his feelings instead of with her. He calls it therapy, like journalling.
Lily’s still pissed he gives her this “happy talk” and then shuts her out. He doesn’t think that’s what he’s doing but she only learns his real feelings from his stupid podcast. She doesn’t want their work to come up on there.
Kyle returns to Summer at Society. He tells her he asked Diane to stay. He’s putting her up at the Athletic Club. Summer’s understanding. She doesn’t want Diane desperate, knowing it brings on bad choices. His family will think she’s using him. Kyle knows.
Her mother watched the whole exchange and wasn’t happy. “Uh oh,” Summer says.
Red turns up on Jack’s doorstep ready to lose her mind over Diane. She walks past him in a mood and then begins to rant about his son making a dumb decision. He tries to calm her down but Phyllis yells at how stupid Kyle is and the rest of them.
She won’t accept this. She’s almost in tears. “I’m unravelling.” She calms down some. Things are going great between them. Finally. Jack thinks she sounds impatient. He swears nothing will come between them and she kisses him. “Thank you.” She relaxes. He tells her that was some kiss.
She may have to talk him down. She asks why she’d want to do that and they head to his bedroom.
