This is the Canadian Y&R day ahead recap from the Friday, May 21, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Monday, May 24. In the previous episode, Phyllis threatened Adam and Ashland. In today’s episode, Chelsea dupes everyone but Rey’s not so sure she’s innocent, Victor asks Devon for information on Amanda, and Amanda upsets Imani and Naya.
At Society, Adam gets off a call with the lawyer who is working his case on seeing Connor. It’s become a bureaucratic nightmare. Victor offers to help but Adam refuses. They talk about hiring Noah as a visual artist. Adam’s not sure Noah will want to work with him. A news item comes in and they discuss it. It’s about Sutton Ames. Adam questions why this seems to interest his father and Victor brushes it off. Adam gets back to discussing his son. He’s still barred from seeing him and it bothers him. He’s going to do what’s necessary, “Just like what you would do.” He goes and Devon walks in. Victor asks how the tribute is going. Devon says it’s great. Victor brings up Amanda’s visit and fishes for information. Devon smiles. He’s not at liberty to discuss it. Victor hopes she doesn’t make a big mistake in going down the wrong path. He says to give her his regards and goes.
Rey wakes Chelsea up in the psych ward. She was having a lovely dream. He’s sorry to have woken her. Michael appears. It’s time for her to make a statement. The doctor shows up and Chelsea tells them about the stroke paralyzing her and that her rehab wasn’t going well. She felt trapped and miserable. She says Adam brought in “the love of his life” and says she knew what was going on. She talks about them spending time together under the guise of helping her. She goes on about them having an affair and how it motivated her to work on her recovery. She acts anxious. “Somebody had to pay for what I had gone through.” Michael asks if she did this alone. She lies that she did. She got her hands on poison and did her research. She gave him enough to make him sick. “I am not a killer,” she insists. Later, the men are alone when Michael says he won’t go against Chelsea’s plea of insanity. Rey heads back inside. Chelsea says she’s anxious. Rey lets her know that Sharon and Adam never had an affair. “I’m afraid it was all in your head.” Chelsea gets upset and says they were victims. “I saw them. They went up the stairs together.” Rey offers to convince her otherwise. He thinks her paranoia fed on itself. Chelsea, in turn, thinks he’s the one who is delusional. As they talk, she tells him, “I was wrong?” She says she hurt him, but she thought she had a reason. She cries and tells him she’s horrible. Rey didn’t tell her so she’d feel bad. He told her so she’d start to heal. She asks after Adam and he doesn’t know anything. He and Sharon put Adam behind them and he suggests she does the same. They all need to heal. Rey forgives her. She thanks him and asks if he could visit. He’ll ask her doctor. Once he’s gone, Chelsea has a self-satisfied grin. Dr. Hedges brings Adam in later. She acts shocked. He tells her there’s value in her visiting with Adam. He’s not there to upset her. He forgives her for all that’s happened and blames himself. “Is that all?” She asks. He tells her his son has no parent he can count on right now. “He can count on me.” Adam says not at the moment. He asks her to let him be a father again. She gets in his face and refuses. She screams, “You’ll never change, Adam and you’ll never change.” The doctor returns and Chelsea says once she’s out, she’ll ensure Connor goes nowhere near him. The doctor doesn’t think that’s a good idea. He needs to know he’s a parent he can count on now. Besides, this will help her cause.
Faith and Sharon arrive at Crimson Lights. Sharon’s glad Faith’s feeling good enough to get out of the house. Moses appears and she thanks him for biology notes. He offers to help her study. Sharon will bring treats to them. Mariah goes to Sharon, who tells her how nice it was to have Rey staying at home. Mariah’s happy and feels something in her abdomen. She thinks the baby is showing its happiness for Sharon, too. Sharon goes to Faith and Moses. They ask if she knows anything about cell mitosis. She has no clue but asks if they need refills. They agree to it, assuming they’ll be there for a while. Sharon goes to get them while she texts Rey to tell him she hopes things are going smoothly, she’s thinking of him and can’t wait to see him.

Naya and Imani wander into the club and Amanda tells them she has questions and needs answers from them. She talks about raising reasonable doubt based on Richard blackmailing someone at Newman. But that isn’t why he was at Newman. “He was looking for me.” Naya and Imani are shocked. Naya says Richard never knew about the pregnancy. Amanda explains that Richard was working with an investigator to find his child. “Who is this mystery source?” Imani asks. She refuses to say yet. The person told her Richard took a leave of absence to conduct the search. Naya insists he didn’t know. Amanda thinks Maya’s holding something back. Imani denies that. She wants Amanda to trust her. Naya’s upset and needs time to think. She goes off and Imani gets angry with Amanda that she’s being insensitive. Amanda explains that this is her job. Naya returns with an apology. Amanda’s sorry for putting her in that position. This caught Naya off guard. She can’t figure out how he knew she was pregnant. Her heart is broken, learning that Richard wanted to know. Imani wants to stop for today but Amanda argues they’ve just started. Naya knows she can seem cold but this has affected her. Amanda asks if she’s being honest when she says she had no contact with Richard. Naya’s offended and maintains she didn’t.

Amanda arrives at Devon’s. She looks over the room which Devon has made look romantic. She’s had a rough afternoon and tells him she needs a hug. Later, they have wine and he tells her about Victor’s fishing expedition and warning. Amanda fills Devon in on her interaction with Naya. Amanda thinks Naya’s lying to her. Devon’s sorry. Maybe Richard went to Sutton about her and Hilary, Amanda wonders.
Rey arrives at Crimson Lights. He tells Sharon a little about his discussion with Chelsea. Sharon is surprised she asked him to visit again. He hasn’t dismissed his suspicion that she’s faking. He can study her by visiting and if she’s not, he can help her heal by being there. He wasn’t raised to turn his back on people who need him.
