Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for Monday, December 20, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Tuesday, December 21. (Recaps live by 5:45 PM EST daily.) In the previous episode, Jack teared into Adam for messing Billy’s life up. In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Billy and Lily’s fake fight gets Adam’s interest, while Victor tells Sally to stop spying and Sharon and Nick support Noah.
Sally visits Victor at the ranch. He’s summonsed her and she’s happy to be there. He’s aware of the videos that she sent of Billy Abbott to his son. She acts coy and he tells her not to deny it. She admits she did it. She doesn’t see a problem. Victor admits that Adam doesn’t, either.
Victor asks what she wants. She says it’s for a possible counter attack. She’s a team player. If the company suffers, her fashion platform suffers and she doesn’t want that. She admits she’s caught several incriminating moments on video. She doesn’t think he’s noticed. Victor is impressed but they need to be careful when it comes to Billy. He doesn’t want her to underestimate him, especially with his back against the wall.
He appreciates the information but asks her to stop. Sally thinks she’s really good at this and doesn’t want to let Adam down. “Oooh now we get to the crux,” Victor says. He smiles at her. She’s also doing this because she wants to impress Adam. He asks her to think carefully before she responds. She admits her attraction to him. Victor says his focus is on his kid. Sally won’t be involved in any romantic entanglements and says Adam’s been clear that he has no time for that.
Victor’s glad since he recalls what she did to Summer. Sally admits she was justifying her actions that Summer has a great job in Italy that she loves abut she now sees what she did as selfish and vindictive. Now she can prove that she’s not that person anymore. Victor will give her that opportunity. He says her fashion platform hasn’t gone unnoticed. He urges her to not get distracted.
Billy and Lily have drinks at Society. They’re waiting for Sally in disguise or Adam to turn up. Billy sips his apple juice and says this is only part of his plan for Newman Media. They have to hope that Lady Luck helps them.
At Crimson Lights, Sharon talks to Noah about how quiet it is at the cafe. His nose is in his laptop. She can tell he’s not listening and talks to him about selling cocoa to a portly fella with reindeer. Noah says, “Mm hmm.” She grins and says she’s sure glad he’s there and not ignoring her. “Mm hmm,” Noah mutters again, looking at his laptop. Nick walks in and Sharon tells him what’s going on.
Nick and Sharon tag team him and joke with him about ignoring them. They’re ready to bond with him. He laughs. He admits he knew she was talking about carrot cake muffins before Dad got there. Nick shares news that he and Victor had a good talk about why they’re not getting along and he admitted Victor called him the greatest father he’d ever know. “Do you also feel that way, Son?”
Noah say yes, and Mom’s the greatest Mom and we’re just the best family. Is that what you want to hear?” They all grin and Sharon says she knows they’re joking but this warms her heart. Noah tells them about working at Newman Media. They’re supportive. He asks if he can get back to work on Tessa’s album cover. Sharon will make peppermint mochas. “We don’t want to disturb the artist formerly known as Noah.”
They head to the patio and talk about Chelsea’s return and how much of an adjustment it’ll be. Sharon’s happy for Connor. Nick admits he brought Phyllis a gift. He updates her on the gift exchange going well. “Kinda felt like closure,” he says. She thinks he must have felt wistful, some regret.
“It’s impossible not to feel like that,” he admits and saw her later with Jack. He wondered if something was going on there. Sharon asks how he felt. It bugged him but he wants her to be happy. “So you don’t want her to win the breakup.” Nick knows it’s not a contest and people move at their own pace.
Sharon suggests they’ve a comforting friendship. Later, they look at Tessa’s album cover in awe. Rey turns up and watches, smiling. He looks at the work and likes it. They all chat and after a bit, Rey watches as Sharon and Nick go down memory lane. He seems upset or jealous.

At the condo, Connor and Chelsea look at old photos as they drink hot chocolate. Adam shows up with a bag of comic books that Connor left in his car. Connor asks if he’ll stay, reminding his dad they always spend Christmas together. He goes off and the parents discuss what to do for Christmas.
Adam suggest Christmas Eve there, and he’ll leave when the kid goes to sleep. He’ll return in the morning for him to open presents. They’ll head to the ranch. He invites Chelsea along. She appreciates his consideration. He tells her though they’re not together, they’re still a family. They always will be.
Connor returns and they fill him in. Adam goes and the kid says he wants his parents to work things out for Christmas so they can be a real family. Chels tells him they are one. She knows these past few months have been tough but they’re going to leave that in the past and move on.
Shes’ happy to be with him. So is he. They hug. Later, she drinks wine and flashes back to loving times with Adam, and then difficult times. Connor appears. He doesn’t feel at home. She admits it’s different for her as well. It’s just an adjustment. He suggests they stay at the ranch. She refuses but thinks it’ll start to feel like home here soon.
Back at Society, Lily and Billy see Adam. Billy gulps down his apple juice and they start their charade. She yells at him that she’s tired of this and he tells her she isn’t the only one. Adam glances over, eyes wide. Billy gets up. She tells him he can’t drive. He rages on her about being the queen of Chancellor. She tries to tell him she doesn’t blame him for them losing ChancComm. He notices Adam looking and snaps at Adam — he’ll pay him back. He turns around and falls to the floor.
Lily goes after him. She tries to help him up and he pushes her away. He’s going somewhere where he feels welcomed. He takes off and Adam turns up. He’s sorry. She doesn’t want to hear it. He calls her a saint to put up with Billy. Lily yells that this is on him. “You make me sick!” She stomps off.

Lily returns home to Billy, who is icing his leg. That fall hurt, he admits. They laugh at how well they think their charade went. They kiss and she notices he has a cut. She gets her purse and takes out a tissue and dabs at the cut. She kisses him and they keep making out but he has to stop her. After that performance, he thinks he’ll have an audience for the rest of the evening.
Sally turns up at Society and Adam tells her that she missed Billy bouncing himself off the floor after a big fight with Lily. Sally asks if he’s okay. Adam shrugs. He tried to approach Lily but she accused him of ruining their life. Sally thinks some are attracted to bad guys. Adam thinks if someone was following him around, tonight would be a good night. “You don’t say,” Sally says. She fills him in on her meeting with his father.
She admits she won him over. He asks how. She says she’s quite charming. He knows. He’s not happy that his dad asked about their relationship. She says it’s fine but he wants her to stop spying on Billy. Adam doesn’t seem to care. He tells her about how Billy is following the same pattern he did when he was with Victoria. Adam knows where he’s headed next and tells her where to go next.
Billy goes to the bar and sees people playing poker. He tells them he’s there to watch but asks Frankie how his credit is. Frankie’s not sure. Later, Billy’s in on a game and drinking when Sally walks in. He sees her and she starts videotaping him. Billy loses and they all yell and laugh. Billy’s done for the night. He takes some money and they offer to save him a seat for next time. He watches Sally on his way out.
Adam goes home to the ranch. He tells his dad his Christmas plans. As they talk business, Sally sends the video of Billy playing poker. Adam’s glad and the men get back to discussing business.
Billy returns home. He lets Lily know that Sally recorded him enough to report back to Adam. It’s time to celebrate. Lily’s not happy. Billy wants to make it up to her. He kisses her hand and she melts a little. He kisses her neck and they make love.
