Fri Jan 12, 2024: Today on General Hospital, Joss gets counseling for Adam, Robert and Diane talk the case against Sonny, and Nina learns Sonny is facing charges.
Thursday’s GH recap: After saving a woman from human trafficking, Carly honored Bobbie with a sign while the ghost of BJ left Port Charles.
Ava nearly spits out her coffee when Nikolas surprises her at the gallery. he asks if she’s sent out her invitations for the party so they can trap Esme.
She informs him that Esme’s partying days are over for now because she’s in jail. The opportunity to right a wrong presented itself so she decided to take advantage of the situation.
They hear someone coming so he ducks into hiding as Nina arrives. Ava asks her who Sonny found out about the SEC mess.
She warns that when he feels betrayed, he’s downright dangerous.
When Nina reminds her that she encouraged her to call the SEC, Ava insists that wasn’t the case and she was only calling her bluff.
She’s sure Sonny knows nothing about that because they are almost getting along for their daughter’s sake.
Nina is afraid her husband hates her now. Ava explains he just goes to a dark place when he hurts and hurt people hurt people.
She fills her in on Sonny nearly beating Cyrus to death.
Nina realizes that Cyrus exposed her after hearing her confession while pretending to be a priest.
She says Cyrus deserves what he got. Ava points out he went to the cops and Sonny will have to go to trial.
Nina’s sure that Diane can get him off but Ava has some doubts that the PCPD will drop this.
Once Nina runs out, Nikolas strolls back in and asks about the hearing today, assuming his mom and son will be there.
He announces it’s time for him to leave Port Charles. He’s still facing charges for what he did to Esme.
Before he can leave, she says she’s glad she didn’t kill him. “You say the sweetest things,” he says, asking her to take care of herself.
Spencer arrives at the PCPD to see Esme and assures her that Ace is okay.
She hasn’t slept all night. He understands how frightening facing prison time is.
She’s not worried for herself but for her son. He assures her that her son won’t grow up without her.
But why did she risk this by breaking into Wyndemere?
He gets her coffee and a danish and asks what she was thinking again.
Esme explains she was lonely and confused. After they bicker about her old self, she insists that she wants to be a good person now.
He doesn’t want her to go to prison for Ace’s sake. She asks him to bring his brother to the court house.
He’ll do that. They rehash everything that happened and she wishes Ava would let this go.
As they bicker about consequences, she says he’s skirted them his whole life. That makes him assume she’s remembered things.
She insists she’s not and tells him she needs him on her side.
As she leaves, he flashes back to one of their fights and realizes she just called him “Spence” like she used.
When Spencer gets home, he’s shocked when his father shows up.
Curtis wakes up in his hospital bed with Jordan’s head sleeping on his thighs. She wakes and says he passed with flying colors.
Stella comes in and he announces that he’s slept enough and is ready for the day.
Deanna comes in and checks him over and Portia explains that Dr. Martel was in while he was asleep. He said the surgery went well.
They just have to wait until the swelling goes down.
At the dorm, Joss tells Trina how worried she is about Adam and telling Kyle the RA about him. Dex thinks that his problems are too big for her to handle.
She still feels like she’s ratted him out.
Stella calls and tells Trina that Curtis is awake. Joss gives her friend a hug and tells her she must be relieved.
As Trina leaves, she tells Joss Adam is lucky to have a friend who cares so much.
Adam arrives and apologizes. She asks about his parents. He’d rather be anywhere than with them.
He knows he should stand up for himself but he’s not strong enough. She hands him so Gatorade and urges him to talk to his parents.
She explains that she went to someone to help him. Kylie arrives.
“You’re a snitch!” blurts outraged Adam.
Kyle assures him he’s not in trouble.
Adam says she had no right to do this and is angry that a report has already been sent to his student portal and a request for heath services. His parents will be able to see all that.
Kylie tries to assure him they can keep this confidential and Joss offers to go to counseling with him.
He refuses and storms out.

Trina rushes into Curtis’ hospital room. They catch up and she tells him she was offered a semester at the Sorbonne.
That sounds great to him. She says it’s for the spring. They all think she should go but she’s not sure this is the best moment to be far away.
Curtis asks to speak to her alone. She knows he will tell her to go.
He’s one of the strongest people she knows and she’s sure he will be back on his feet. He says her passing on a trip to Paris won’t change that.
She tells him she won’t be going alone. Spencer will be coming with her.
Curtis says that Paris should be about her figuring out who she is. Spencer will be here when she gets back, won’t he?
In the hall, Portia worries to Stella that she just blew things with the big news. Stella tells her to relax and get some rest.
They return to the others and discuss the hearing. Curtis assures Trina it’s okay for her to go.
He’s glad Ava pressed charges against Esme. So is she. None of them trust Esme.
Once Trina takes off, they talk about Trina and Spencer in Paris. Curtis points out that if Esme goes to prison, Spencer will stay in town to raise Ace.
Robert joins Diane at the café, apologizing for having to back out on their date last night.
She wonders what could have been so important. He explains it was Sonny.
Diane thinks he’s being very gleefully about this and Sonny is a wonderful, beloved man and Cyrus is just a criminal.
Robert explains they have DNA evidence.
She explains that if he brings this to trial, the defendant will be more appealing than the victim. Even if they had proof, there would be no one to shed tears for Cyrus.
Robert plans to play the redemption angle. This is all her making her lose her appetite.
He’s clear that he will do anything he can to rid the town of Corinthos, even if he’ll miss his coffee.
He asks what she will do with all the free time she’ll get.
Getting up and patting his cheek, she says she’s sure she will find someone to keep her busy but it won’t be him.
Dex and Sonny go to the office as Frank checks everything for bugs. When they are left alone, Sonny tells Dex that he has a task for him. Once it’s done, there’s no looking back.
He complains about Cyrus bringing the cops into a situation that should have remained between them. He needs to get back to paying attention to the business and doesn’t want legal problems.
“You’re going to take care of Cyrus for me,” Sonny says. Dex assumes he wants him scared. “To death,” the mobster clarifies.
This is how he can finally prove his loyalty to them. If he does this, he will always be with them.
Dex points out that killing him won’t make the case go away. Sonny says there are no witnesses or cameras.
He wants to send a message that no one crosses him. He wants people to remember that.
Dex is sure they will but there’s DNA evidence. He has Diane to discredit evidence.
Standing up, Dex is still reluctant. This disappoints his boss. If he can’t do this, he can’t trust or rely on him.
Is he loyal or not?
Dex claims he’s only speaking up about potential problems. Sonny gets that but Dex is falling short of his expectations.
He said he wanted to do more for the organization, this is how. He tells Dex that his whole family, including Joss, are in danger because of Cyrus.
Dex asks when he wants it done. “Immediately,” orders Sonny, adding, “Anything can happen in a hospital.”
Once Dex is gone, Frank brings in the mail.
Dex goes to the hospital. He tries calling Joss but she doesn’t pick up. He leaves a message, telling her how important she is to and he will always love her.
He gets a text with Cyrus’ room number and walks off.
Nina arrives at the nurses’ station, asking to see Cyrus.
