Mon Jan 16, 2024: Today on General Hospital, Josslyn gets support from Carly, Nikolas decides to protect Ace, Trina tells Esme about her plans and Sonny tries to stop Dex.
Monday’s GH recap: Nikolas Wants to Run Off With His Sons, Esme’s Sentenced, Sonny Tries to Call Off the Hit, and Nina & Cyrus Make a Deal
In the hospital, Dex is in scrubs and about to inject Cyrus’ IV, following through on Sonny’s order to kill Cyrus when Sonny arrives and taps on the window and shakes his head no.
Dex stops what he’s doing and Nina eavesdrops from nearby.
Sonny lets himself in and pretends Dex is a nurse and asks to see Mr. Renault.
Cyrus starts preaching but Sonny just wants to get to the point.
Cyrus won’t press charges but Sonny says the state can pursue charges. Cyrus will just say he provoked the assault. Sonny doesn’t get it but Cyrus says he doesn’t want Sonny to retaliate.
He likes being out of prison and free. Sonny doesn’t believe the poop he’s shoveling.
Sonny asks who got to him but Cyrus won’t say.
Outside, Dex finds Nina who worries about why he’s in scrubs and if Sonny’s in with Cyrus.
Dex refuses to let her interrupt.
She questions what’s going on but won’t tell Nina anything. He’s sorry. She understands but says she’d do anything for Sonny and walks away.
Dex gets back into his suit and drops the Fentonal in the trash.
Sonny finds his man and Dex admits he thinks Nina made this happen.
Sonny approaches Nina and confronts her. She admits she talked to Cyrus.
She caused a lot of trouble and making the deal with Cyrus is her cleaning up her mess.
He tells her not to next time and says to stay away from him.
Willow tells Joss that Dr. Finn’s with Adam right now.
In an ER room, Finn tries to get Adam to wake up as the nurse shows him the drugs he was on.
Meanwhile, Willow calls Carly to come to be with Joss as Finn works on the young man.
Liz sees Joss and takes her aside to ask for a medical history. She tells him about his ADHD medication and Liz runs off.
Willow goes to Joss to see how she’s doing and Joss curses herself for not seeing this coming.
She explains what’s been going on. Carly returns and Joss says Adam tried suicide.
Carly holds her daughter close.
Back in the ER, Finn says they need to prepare the kid for a gastric lavage.
A nurse worries they need a consult first but Finn says there’s no time. Liz agrees. They pump his stomach and he’ll make a full recovery.
They go tell Joss and Carly and want to talk to the parents but Joss refuses, blaming them.
They force the issue and leave Carly to try to explain to Joss why they need to do this.
Joss worries that Adam won’t forgive her. Carly says the kid is clearly calling out for help.
Joss wishes she did something sooner.
By the hub, Finn says he’ll call for a psych eval and it might be a wake-up call for the parents.
Later, once alone, Finn thanks Liz for backing up the procedure.
They discuss the malpractice suit and later finds out the doctor Muldoon saw in Beecher’s Corners is in Port Charles and he can see them. It could mean he beats the malpractice suit.
Later, Joss goes into Adam’s room with his guitar and tells him she’ll stay with him until he wakes up, reminding him he’s not alone.

In the courtroom, Trina assumes Esme’s relieved. She is and asks if he’s seen Spencer and Ace.
She hasn’t. Esme assumes she’s disappointed with her sentence but Trina barks that she knows nothing about her.
Esme says if the “allegations” are true about her for what happened to Joss and Cam, she’d want her put away, too.
Trina’s parents raised her to know right from wrong.
Esme says hers didn’t raise her.
Not that she remembers.
Trina wants her to pay for what she did because she broke the law but not for petty breaking and entering.
As much as Trina dislikes her, she agrees with the judge. Esme’s surprised at her rationality.
She’s leaving Port Charles soon and tells her why.
Esme congratulates her but says Spencer will miss her but Trina says he’s coming.
Esme’s shocked and asks if she’s being selfish.
What about Laura? Trina says she’ll be fine. “What about me?”
Esme asks. Trina says it’s one semester.
Esme worries that they’ll stay. Trina says he won’t.
Esme worries Ace will think he abandoned him.
Trina denies it’ll happen and reminds Esme she wanted to be on her own and now she is.
Besides, she and Spencer don’t think about Esme at all. She goes.
At Laura’s place, Nikolas holds Ace as Spencer tells his dad he’s not leaving Port Charles.
His life, Trina, Laura and Alexis is there.
Nikolas knows he’s asking a lot. Spencer says they’re not going.
Nikolas begs his son to trust him but he doesn’t.
Nikolas says his brother’s in danger if he stays there — from Esme. Spencer disagrees.
Nikolas says Esme wants to remember.
If she does, she’ll cause more pain and could run away with Ace or do something worse.
He holds Ace close as he says this. He can’t stay or he’ll go to prison.
Spencer says Esme’s at a hearing right now and if Ava gets her way, Esme will go to prison.
It’ll mean Nikolas can file for custody.
Nikolas doesn’t think Esme will roll over.
Spencer fets a call from Laura and learns the news about Esme as Ace sleeps.
After Spencer disconnects, he tells his dad Esme’s basically a free woman.
Spencer thinks back to realizing that Esme is remembering and reveals this to his father.
“It’s just a feeling,” he says, telling his dad that Esme called him Spence, something she hasn’t done since she had her memory. Nikolas believes it’s proof.
He begs his son to go away with him.
Spencer allows his dad to take the kid with him and when Nikolas goes to get his things, Spencer kisses his brother and says goodbye and tells him how much love he has for him, that he wants his safety and love.
Nik returns and Spencer says if he hurts his brother, hell find him and make him pay.
Nikolas knows. Spencer relays information to care for the child and Nikolas begs him to come but he has a life with Trina. Nikolas promises he’ll be back.
“Make sure he’s looked after,” Spencer says, handing the tyke over.
The baby barely awakens, falling fast asleep as his father takes him away.
When he realizes his dad forgot a toy, he rushes to the door, opening it to Esme.
Back at General Hospital, Carly and Willow talk about Adam’s parents and they hope they want the best for them.
Nina says the station has given him his time slot, as soon as Sonny’s case is thrown out.
Then he can start spreading the good word. Cyruus says, “Praise the lord.” Nina says, “Sure, whatever you say.”
In the elevator, Sonny says Dex impressed him today.
Dex asks what to do about Cyrus.
Sonny will make that bastard wish he didn’t stop Dex from putting him out of his misery.
Trina barges into Adam’s room to see how Joss is.
They wonder what to tell him when he wakes up.
