Thursday, August 24 GH recap: Ava urges Portia to give Spencer a chance, Sonny tells Carly that Austin is trouble, and Mac and Sam try to talk Cody down.
Wednesday’s GH recap: Austin told Cyrus he was finished with him, Marshall shut down Selina’s poker game, and Montague demanded money from Gladys to free Sasha.
Sonny stops by Kelly’s to see Carly.
After she stops him from stealing some fries, he asks for information about her visit to Pentonville.
He asks if she saw Austin and who he was with.
She saw him but doesn’t know who he was visiting.
He says the doctor is nothing but trouble.
That makes sense to her since he’s seeing Ava.
All Carly saw was him going to the infirmary with his bag.
She fills him in about Drew helping Cyrus and worries about the other inmates going after him.
Sonny assures her she doesn’t have to worry. Carly guesses that he sent Dex to sort that out.
After they chat about Dex, he tells her that Austin gets under his skin and he wants to know why.
Ava stops by Portia’s office at General Hospital with some caffeine and sugar.
She saw Trina at the gallery and wanted to come by to ask if there was anyway she could help with Curtis.
They talk about how Trina is handling things and Ava says that Spencer is helping her.
Portia has her doubts about that but Ava urges her to give him a chance.
The doctor is trying to do that for her daughter’s sake.
The topic goes back to Curtis and she admits she doesn’t know where they stand or what he really wants.
It’s unclear when he will be back. Things have been tense and he’s shut her out. Ava is sure that’s difficult.
Portia has been trying to focus on the practical things and praying he comes home.
The Jerome is not going to give relationship advice and Portia says they were going through more than a rough patch.
Even if they were happy, she thinks he’d be reacting the same way.
He’s feeling vulnerable and it’s like he doesn’t want to seem weak or helpless.
She’s made it clear she’s in it for the long haul but that only makes him pull away more.
Being in a wheelchair will never make her love him less.
Ava says that he may feel like she’s giving up her life to take care of him. Portia says she wouldn’t be giving up.
Adapting to that challenge is what marriage is all about.
Ava urges her to keep telling him until he realizes he really needs her.
At rehab, Curtis’s therapist urges him to take a break but he’s determined to keep pushing. Jordan arrives.
Curtis introduces her to his therapist, Brent.
They have some chit chat and Brent leaves them alone.
Jordan tells her ex that someone burned down Anna’s house.
She gives the details about the arson.
It was clearly about sending a message and they didn’t want to kill her.
He suggests the bullet that hit him wasn’t intended to kill either.
It could have just been a message.
When Brent returns after Jordan has left, he tells him what an attractive woman she is.
He hopes he gets to meet her again. He has to take off to talk to his supervisor.
Curtis watches another patient working and wonders if he can progress as much as he has.
The man gives him a pep talk about learning to live with your limitations.
At the gallery, Spencer admits to Trina he hasn’t given much thought to what will happen when Laura and Kevin get back.
Taking care of the baby has been taking up all his time. He hasn’t been able to think about bigger-picture issues.
She realizes there is no simple answer to this.
He doesn’t want his brother to feel abandoned and he wants him to have all the things he didn’t.
All he had was staff, not a father. His chauffeur tucked him in at night.
When he was a child, all he wanted was to be part of a real family and then his father pretended to be dead.
He just wishes he knew where he was so he could know if he was forced to run away.
She thinks he always assumes the worst of Nikolas.
He says that’s all he’s ever shown him.
Trina is sure that there is something good in his father and reminds him of some of the happy stories he’s told her.
The Cassadine admits he loves his father.
As they prepare to get the paintings ready for the show, Esme sends a text, asking if he’s coming home for dinner.
Portia jogs in with a bag of food. Spencer leaves them alone.
Trina is glad her mom is there and assumes she needs the distraction.
They awkwardly chat about Curtis.
Portia admits she went to rehab to visit him but couldn’t get out of her car and go in, no matter how much she wanted to see him.
Every time she visits, he pushes her away.
Trina suggests he just needs space and will come around.
Her mom isn’t so sure and feels selfish about it. She doesn’t know what to do.
