Friday, August 18 GH recap: Gregory tells Finn he has ALS, Sam worries to Dante about her sisters, and Sonny offers to get Drew out of solitary.
Thursday’s GH recap: Dante realized Cody was trying to get committed, Gregory told Finn he’s ill, and Tracy got drunk in public.
Carly answers her door and finds Sonny there. He assures her everyone is okay.
She assumes he wants a favor. Actually, he’s there to do her a favor. She refuses.
They bicker about what happened at the station and she tells him she can take care of herself.
He explains that he’s there to talk about Drew. He has a connection who can get him out of solitary early.
She says Drew will wonder why and he insists it’s a gift with no strings attached.
Carly assumes he’s doing this because he wanted to force her to accept a favor. She thanks him for it.
In the Quartermaine kitchen, Neddie turns on the light and finds hungover Tracy under a towel.
He never took her as a hard partyer. She wishes the room would stop spinning.
As she takes pain killers, he notes she doesn’t seem experienced with drinking.
She claims it wasn’t her fault. It’s his daughter’s.
Neddie thinks it sounds like she had a lot of fun.
She accuses him of avoiding the reality of his life. He doesn’t want to pretend to be a tax-dodging millionaire.
She’d appreciate it if he just stopped being an embarrassment and running around dives.
“I’m onto you, lady!” he says, accusing her of wanting to have him committed.
Tracy admits she asked Olivia to commit him. This can’t go on.
He insists he’s not faking anything and he didn’t ask to be in this house.
He’s Eddie and there’s nothing he can do about it.
“Fine. You’re Eddie Maine. But I am Ned Quartermaine’s mother and I will never stop fighting,” she says.
If he was worried about them putting him away, he would have stayed at Sonny’s.
He says there are too many “goombahs” there. That makes her sure Ned is still inside.
At Molly’s, Kristina demands to know why she didn’t invite her to the family sushi party.
Molly says it wasn’t about her. That’s why she wasn’t invited. They found a surrogate that isn’t her.
Kristina says that’s great. Molly says the woman they found is perfect.
She and TJ could have a child in the next year. She was going to tell her tomorrow.
Her sister wonders if she thinks she was going to spoil things.
Why is she paying a stranger for what she would do? Molly is glad she didn’t invite her.
Her sister repeats her question.
They bicker and Kristina tells her that having a stranger for a surrogate means she won’t even be related to the baby.
Molly says she’s mean but admits she’d rather have a family from her stranger than her sister.
She’s sure Kristina would never let anyone forget their baby was a gift.
Leaving, Kristina says she never realized how selfish and insecure she was.

General Hospital’s comings and goings
At the penthouse, Dante gets a call confirming that Valentin never went near ELQ the night Anna’s house burned down.
He wonders why he’s lying to Anna.
Sam comes out of the bathroom and they kiss.
As they climb into bed, he says seeing her makes everything okay.
She feels the same. After more kissing, he pushes her to tell him about her day.
She says Molly and Kristina are headed for World War III.
Sam unpacks the friction between her sisters.
She’s not sure she should be talking about this after what happened with Lulu, but he says it’s okay.
He suggests she let her sisters work this out themselves.
She turns the topic to his day so he tells her about Cody losing it at the PCPD.
They almost had to arrest him.
They talk about Anna and Valentin and he explains that he’s been lying to her about things.
He wants to know what’s going on, especially since Charlotte is staying down the hall. They can’t trust him.
Valentin helps Anna check into a hotel room.
She always had a home to go back to and now she doesn’t.
She tries reminding herself that she has a lot to be thankful for and she needs to move on.
He reminds her she’s not a machine. Losing her house must hurt but they can get through this together and find who did this to her.
After she gets into her pajamas, he pours them drinks and toasts to their future.
He assures her they will find out who is behind this, but for the moment, he suggests he join him at the ballet with Charlotte.
Martin shows up. Valentin steps into the hall with him.
The lawyer hands him an envelope, unsure of why he insisted on getting this in the middle of the night.
Anna overhears all this. When Valentin returns to her, he says he had no idea why Martin insisted on showing up so late.
When he jumps into the shower, Dante calls her to say his tech guys have confirmed Valentin was nowhere near ELQ. There was also now water main break.
She gets off the line and opens the envelope Martin brought.
It’s from Pikeman.
After she goes to bed, he climbs in with her. “You lied to me,” she says.
He gets jumpy, but she covers and they make out before she claims to be exhausted.
At Finn’s, the doctor asks his father if he’s okay.
He knows that he fell. Gregory admits there’s something awful. He’s sick. It’s ALS.
Finn asks if he’s certain. He is. He’s had extensive testing and the results were conclusive.
Gregory has known for months but couldn’t bring himself to tell him.
They were finally getting close as a family and he didn’t want to damage that.
He can see in his eyes that this changes everything.
Finn is sorry for all the time he cost them. His father says they’ve moved past that and he’s so proud of his two sons.
They talk about what a gift it is to spend time with Violet.
Gregory explains that his condition has progressed. His hands are cramping and he’s been struggling. He can’t hide his disease any longer.
He beats himself up for putting Violet at risk tonight. He’s been trying to convince himself that he’s not getting worse.
His son wishes that he had someone to talk to about this instead of dealing with this alone.
Gregory admits that Alexis found out.
The thing that’s so hard to grasp is that he feels fine but knows this disease is in there.
His son assures him he will always be the strong man that raised him.
He has no illusions about what this means, and he will be by his side every step of the way.
Gregory asks him to help him break the news to Chase. They love each other and hug, sobbing.
