In the Wednesday, September 8, 2021, full episode recap of Days of our Lives, Xander and Justin find a gun in Bonnie’s belongings, and Gabi and Jake continue with their plan to take Philip down. If you missed out, Soaps Spoilers has you covered with Tuesday’s Days recap: Calista was shot dead.
At Rafe’s, Jake comes home with a pizza, talking to Gabi about how he enjoyed his work as a mechanic but spreadsheets will be the death of him. Gabi is half-listening. She tells him she found something to take Philip down. She reads that Philip took the Titan jet to Wilksbury, where Brady and Chloe were. Jake’s interested. He shoves a whole slice of pizza into his mouth as he listens to Gabi gossip about Philip finding Chloe and Brady in bed.
At Titan, Philip dictates a letter to ask someone to cease and desist, but the letter turns out to be a memo to Brady, him bitching about Chloe.
At the pub, Belle talks with Chloe on a call about something Philip did. Shawn rolls his eyes. Belle has to go meet Chloe. She’ll be back in a few minutes. She kisses him goodbye.

Xander objects to Justin and Bonnie’s wedding, demanding she gives him his money back. Steve tells him to get out but Xander thinks he’ll want to hear this. Kayla asks what it’s about. Xander explains a briefcase full of cash has gone missing and Bonnie’s the only one who could have taken it. Justin’s confused. “Come on, Bon Bon. Don’t be coy,” Xandy says. Bonnie wanted to invite, “This lunkhead,” to their wedding. The JP takes off to give them time. Xander says he was in the shower exfoliating after she left and when he got out, he noticed his money was gone and his keycard was misplaced. Justin yells at Bonnie, asking if it’s true. She flashes to the theft and lies. Xandy says he’ll go to her room to get his cash and she yells, stopping him before she flashes back to the whole sordid thing of accidentally killing Calista. Xander goes into Bonnie’s room and apologizes to (dead) Calista, wrapped in a blanket. He finds the bag of money and Bonnie stops him. He can’t have it! He says if she gives it to him, they’ll have their happily ever afters. She realizes he could be right and lets go of him and the gun and cash falls out of her bag. Justin walks in and both men ask why she has a gun. Downstairs, Kayla worries. Steve tells her she’s beautiful, as beautiful as she was on all of their wedding days. They kiss. Back upstairs, Xander collects his cash and Bonnie grabs the gun. Xander says Calista sleeps like the dead. He takes off and Justin asks if Calista’s okay. Bonnie cries and Justin goes to check on the woman. He gasps when he sees her bloody chest. Downstairs, Xander fills in Steve and Kayla that he got his money back and about the gun. He called the cops. Upstairs, Justin demands answers.

At their apartment, Lani and Eli pay the nanny. She says her first day back on the job was great, but she missed Jules and Carver. Eli gets chips, pop and licorice and tells his wife they’re going on a stakeout. They’re going to watch their kids. They make up jokes about the kids and playfully banter as they fight over the chips. Each gets a text.

Abe and Paulina are at her place. After their eventful Labor Day weekend, she wants Eli and Lani to bring the kids over. Abe wonders if they might be tired. Lani texts that they’re coming and bringing dessert. Paulina’s thrilled. She toddles to the kitchen to make chicken. Abe wishes they could just order pizza. After they’ve cooked, Abe’s in better spirits. He tells her how he started cooking for himself and they toast with some vino. They start kissing and flirting. Later Eli and Lani arrive with the babies and pie. Wine is poured and they drink to one hell of a Labor Day weekend. Paulina worries that she’s back working as a cop with babies. “You’re starting to sound like my mom now,” Lani says. Paulina flushes. Lani wants her kids to see… “What a badass detective you are,” Eli finishes. Lani receives a call from Rafe. They’re needed on a case. They leave the kids behind. When she thinks she’s alone, Paulina tells the twins a secret. “I’m your grandma.” Abe listens at the door, shocked.
Belle interrupts Philip at the office. She yells at him for flying to Wilksbury to confront Chloe, who is ticked off he doesn’t trust her. Philip claims he does but just not Brady, especially now. He continues writing his letter when Belle stops him. Jake and Gabi read what Philip has written from their place. Gabi thinks they need to get him to act on his violent memo so Victor will fire him and hire her. Jake thinks Philip will kill Brady. Gabi doubts that but they should push him. Meanwhile, Belle tries but can’t stop Philip from sending the email to Brady. He soon realizes it didn’t go through. “What the hell is wrong with my computer?” Belle thinks the fates stepped in. Later, Philip sends his computer to Arthur in IT. Belle stomps off after he refuses to listen. IT calls and he says, “You found what on my laptop?” Meanwhile, Gabi is flustered since Philip didn’t send the email. “I was thinking you could spend a little less time with your software and a little more time with my…” Gabi says, “Shhh!” They laugh.
Lani and Eli turn up at the Kiriakis estate. They see Bonnie and Justin with Calista’s dead body.

Before Jake and Gabi can make love, Philip shows up. “Why the hell are you spying on me?”
Belle returns to the pub to complain that Philip’s as irrational as ever. Shawn is irritated. He admits he talked to Claire. Belle needs to catch up with her. Shawn says she can. He booked a few business class tickets to Johannesburg to see her. Belle squeals with delight.
