Friday, Dec 22: Today on Bold and the Beautiful, Katie and Zende decorate the house and they tell tales of Eric, RJ plays the piano, and Eric’s family wait around his bed praying for a miracle.
Thursday’s Early B&B recap: Fearing pneumonia, Finn and Bridget needed Eric off the ventilator and he suddenly opened his eyes.
At the hospital, Ridge leaps away from Etic to declare his father just opened his eyes. Finn pointed out they aren’t quite open. Brooke is sure this is a sign that he wants to live.
Bridget takes it as a sign too and thinks now is the time to see if he can breathe on his own.
Steffy tells her granddad that he has to come back to him. She and Ridge urge him to fight.
Finn tells them all not to lose hope and Ridge says they aren’t giving up. They are praying for a Christmas miracle.
The doctors call a specialist and then Finn explains to Eric that once they remove the ventilator, he needs to breathe on his own.
He moves his eyes so they assume he can understand.
Finn and Bridget remove the tubes. His machines immediately start beeping.
Finn and Bridget Bridget give him air and Brooke starts reading from the Bible.
There’s a moment of silence and then Eric gasps.
Everyone gasps.
They beg him to fight. He gradually opens his eyes and mutters. Donna rushes to his side and he clenches her hand.
Everyone weeps and Brooke welcomes Eric home.

At Eric’s, Zende and Katie are trimming the tree as they talk about Eric.
RJ mopes in with the carousel and worries that Etic will never see the decor again. Luna tells him this is the time of miracles.
Katie thinks that decorating the house as Donna suggested may just be the boost Eric needs to come back to them.
They talk about how it doesn’t feel like the holidays without him playing the piano and his lethal eggnog.
Zende worries this holiday will turn into a painful memory of losing the man that holds them together.
Katie hangs up the stockings and declares they need to channel positive thoughts. Zende gets enthusiastic.
He talks about winning the adoption lottery when he was brought into the family. Eric always made him feel loved. He always made him feel like a Forrester.
His grandad had such a gift for always knowing how to lift your spirits. Katie says he’s right about that and he’s not going anywhere.
They sit around and look at old photos, laughing at the pictures Eric kept of all RJ’s aunts in bikinis.
Katie tears up about what a miracle Eric has been to so many people. He deserves a miracle himself.
RJ sits at the piano with Luna and plays “O Holy Night” as Zende and Katie hold hands.
Brooke calls and asks her sister to put her on speaker.
Brooke announces that Eric is breathing on his own again and his vitals are improving. This was the miracle they were praying for.
It looks like they will have a Merry Christmas after all.
They are all thrilled and call for RJ to play “Joy to the World.” They sing.
Back at the hospital, Brooke finishes calling the rest of the family. She and Brooke can now celebrate the holidays.
Steffy tells her grandfather that Finn found a way to heal him.
Ridge knows he made his father a promise, but Finn came up with an option and they took it. He’s glad they did.
He begs his father to say something.
Eric looks around and says, “Merry.”
