Friday, July 21 recap of B&B: Brooke and Eric look forward to Sheila being locked up, Finn is defensive with Liam, and Sheila’s thrilled to go free.
Thursday’s B&B recap: Finn allowed Sheila to hug him while Steffy and Wyatt reeled over Liam and Hope’s divorce news.
At the courthouse, Finn tells Steffy how crazy everything is. He paces and says it shouldn’t be long until this is over.
Steffy was hoping that she would never have to see Sheila again but it’s worth it if it means she’s going away permanently.
She’s sure this is hard for him. He claims it doesn’t matter that she’s his birth mother and then flashes back to her hugging him. He steps out to make a call.
As soon as he does, Liam shows up. Finn demands to know what he’s doing there. Liam says he’s there to show support.
The doctor feels for him and his collapsing marriage, but… Liam is confused. Finn makes it clear he won’t tolerate anything “inappropriate” between he and his wife. He bars him from going in.
Liam reminds him that his daughter and Bill are part of this.
Carter, Bill, and Ridge arrive. They talk about how they want this to be over. When Liam comes in with Finn, Steffy is startled to see him there. Liam claims he just wants closure on this.
Sheila is brought in and slowly looks around the room. Finn makes eye contact with her and Steffy whispers at him to stop doing that. She holds his hand and Liam looks from Sheila to Finn with a furrow of his brow, noticing that Finn seems moved by Sheila. Bill tells Liam she may try to plead a lesser charge. Carter says they’ve her concession but will find out soon.
Judge Evan Scott presides. He thanks everyone for coming and murder in the first which could result in life imprisonment. Sheila barks to her lawyer that she can’t stand the thought.
He tells her to stay positive. The judge has to address something to everyone present.
He tells them they’ve all been touched by evil things Sheila did and should pay the price for heinous crimes. He thanks Ridge for going above and beyond, knowing that she’s been terrorizing the family for years.
He thinks this has to be difficult for Finn and sympathizes with them.
It pains the judge to tell them that unfortunately, after examining the facts that there is no legal footing in part due to the unlawful search and seizure.
Bill’s help was murky and the surveillance of Sheila wasn’t legal. Without further evidence means the charges against Sheila are dropped since they rely on hearsay. Everyone does a collective facepalm.
Steffy’s outraged. She speaks up and the judge says he is too. Sheila deserves to be behind bars. Since they withdrew their statements regarding being shot by Sheila, they can’t even sentence her for that. Unless there’s new evidence, he orders her release.
Ridge and Bill stand up and start yelling that he can’t do this. Carter wants to motion for an appeal, to which the judge says they can do, but it’ll be a waste of time.
Steffy wonders how to keep her family safe and her voice cracks as she’s almost in tears. Sheila asks if she’s free to go. He says yeah but if he sees her there again, he doubts she’ll be that lucky. She stands up and the guard uncuffs her as Steffy covers her mouth with her hand.
Steffy thanks her lawyer and Finn gapes, in shock. Steffy hugs Ridge, wondering what they’ll do. Ridge comforts her as Finn stares off, with Liam watching.
Outside, Sheila is thrilled she’s free and smiles. Finn approaches and she tells him she can’t imagine being free. It’s a gift she thanks God for. She hugs him and he hugs her back, brow furrowed. Liam appears and witnesses the scene, looking unhappy.

Eric and Brooke are at Il Giardino going over finances. He’s thrilled that Hope and Thomas have been such a great team and can’t wait to see what comes next from them.
They talk about Sheila. She didn’t want to see her face but Ridge will let her know when Sheila is in prison.
Deacon overhears and asks if something is going on with Sheila. Brooke explains she will finally be out of their lives once and for all. She says that her old enemy could spend thousands of years in prison and it wouldn’t make up for the pain she’s caused.
They recall Steffy and Finn’s shooting and Deacon awkwardly listens as they talk about how Sheila has no feelings and is barbaric.
Deacon wonders if prison is the right place for her if she’s that crazy.
Brooke and Eric think she’s beyond help. Both Eric and Brooke say Sheila will be in prison but Eric thinks it’ll be hard on Finn seeing his mom sentenced to prison. Broke’s happy Sheila will get everything she deserves.
