(Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for August 30, 2023 episode airs in the USA on August 31. Live by 4:15 PM EST daily.)
At the ranch, Nick, Sharon, and Adam bicker about why they have been called there.
Adam gets snarky and they accuse him of screwing them over.
Adam knows his dad may be pissed at him but is sure he knows that he’s the only one to run Newman Media.
he assumes today will just be a pep talk for team work. Nick doubts that.
Victor joins them. After they sit, he tells them they have made a mess of things so far.
Now he needs to step in and make drastic changes.
Nick blames his brother for everything.
Victor tells them to stop all this bickering.
He prompts them to tell him what they think this project will look like, although it probably won’t make any difference to his decision.
Adam imagines himself as the neo CEO of Newman Media with Sally as his COO.
Nick finds this unbelievable and outrageous.
His father orders him to accept it. Nate will out at Newman and Nikki will be the new director of research and development.
He’s demoting Victoria to COO. Nick is appalled.
His father tells him he’s not as capable as his brother. Adam makes it clear he won’t be keeping Nick and Sharon on at Newman Media.
He suggests Sharon start her own therapy business. If only she could have accepted that he was right to take over…
She reminds him that she gave him the chance and he betrayed them.
He acts like everything is personal. He concedes it but says he’s fine and Nick is just a plodder who couldn’t pay the rent if he didn’t have the Newman name.
Nick won’t live with this humiliation and thinks his brother is a smug SOB.
Adam agrees that’s true and his brother clocks him in the jaw.
Adam snaps out of this fantasy.
He claims he’s just thinking of what he wants for the company.
Victor moves on to Sharon. She admits she has some serious concerns about moving on with Newman Media.
There is too much conflict and things keep blowing up.
That’s mostly because of Adam.
He’s done nothing but make her regret bringing him on board.
Adam claims it was just business. She doesn’t buy that and reminds him they are people too and he made everything impossible.
She asks Victor what they are really doing there and if he cares what she thinks.
He claims he does and wants some perspective about where they should go in the future.
Sharon imagines Adam apologizing and declaring that Nick and Sharon have been right about everything.
He wants to take accountability and gives Sharon credit, adding that she is one of the few people who has thought the best of him.
He’s betrayed her once again and she deserves better. She thanks him for acknowledging the truth.
Adam then makes an apology to Nick and claims he’s seen the error of his ways.
This speech is only the beginning of him trying to make amends.
He admits to his father that he’s let him down again.
Most people would have walked away from him and he hasn’t. He’s sorry for pushing him away.
Adam swears that he is not playing an angle and is sincere.
He wants to start over with them so they can make something remarkable. Nick agrees.
Sharon snaps out of this fantasy. Victor says her hesitancy to answer his question is not inspiring a lot of confidence.
“I want out,” Sharon announces.
She wants to take Kirsten and turn it around on her own.
She doesn’t trust Victor or Adam and knows they don’t really want the company.
Victor says he’s not running a charity. He’s running a business.
She doesn’t want SNA to be a cog in the Newman machine.
She thinks it’s possible to be compassionate and turn a profit at the same time.
Newman Media will be fine without Kirsten, so why won’t he let it go?
Victor refuses to let go of the company and offers to buy her out instead.
She refuses. Nick thinks he has little use for Kirsten and just hates to lose.
Adam thinks the buy out is the right idea and urges Sharon to accept it.
Nick accuses him of sucking up. His brother claims he’s being practical.
The brothers bicker about how all they touch turns into a disaster.
Adam is sure Nick is only there to protect Sharon.
Sharon tells Victor she won’t roll over and let him decide what her company can be.
She wants nothing to do with another Newman turf war.
Standing, she declares she will get an attorney and fight. “You do you, as they say,” Victor grumbles.
She walks out.

She wishes Katherine were there to talk to.
She gives him a kiss and walks off. He stares at the photo of Adam on his desk.
Sadly, he goes into his exercise room and takes off his jacket, staring at the punching bag.
“I’m alone. I’m all alone now. No one. No one defeats me,” he says, before he starts punching.
Adam goes home and has a drink.
“You want a war, I’ll give you a war,” he says.
At Crimson Lights, Sharon calls Michael and tells him she needs some legal advice.
Nick arrives and asks if she’ll really take it to court.
She will if she has to. He says his dad is wrong to do this to her.
He’s making some point he doesn’t understand.
Victor finally kicked Adam out.
