Thursday, June 29, 2023, Y&R day ahead episode recap: Summer and Michael discuss her mother’s return, Kyle tells Jack he’s separating from Summer, and Kyle unpacks his problems to Mariah.
Wednesday’s Y&R day ahead recap: Kyle cheated on Summer, she worried to Nick that her marriage is over, and Lauren encouraged Michael to save Phyllis.

Summer joins Michael at the GCAC, eager to hear about his meeting with her mom.
He explains that her mom is stressed and tired. They had a productive talk about her options then she ate his strawberries and left.
Summer asks if she’s found a way out of this mess and can come home soon. He’s committed to bringing her and her mayhem back.
Her mother is not being helpful. She’s afraid of Christine.
Summer thinks this uncertainty is just leading to craziness.
As much as she loves her mom, she still can’t believe she did this to them.
There is collateral damage.
She tells him she might need a lawyer herself. He rubs his face and asks, “What did you do?”
She admits that her mom reached out to her first and kept her secret. She broke a bunch of laws and Chance has already warned her Christine is waiting to charge her.
The lawyer tells her talking to the police was a mistake.
She adds that her husband now hates her and she might need a divorce attorney.
Michael is sure Kyle will come around but she doubts it.
Audra wanders down into the lobby and watches the lawyer trying to comfort her.
She smiles as she thinks of being in bed with the other woman’s husband and then strolls over.
Summer tells Michael she’s the woman who broke Noah’s heart.
Audra introduces herself to Michael and she commends his reputation as a lawyer.
She tells Summer she was at the gala when her mother collapsed.
It’s wonderful that she’s alive. She must be on a roller coaster. It’s a good thing she has her husband.
Summer asks what she wants. Audra is polite and exits. They wonder what that was about.
Summer is sure everything will get worse when her mom comes back.

At home, Sharon is startled by a knock at the door. It’s Nick with a package.
He’s not thrilled to be on leave but gives her the box left at the gate.
She gets him to help her put on a necklace.
They have coffee and recall him giving her that necklace a million years ago.
Sharon assures him she’s fine and he doesn’t have to check on her. She admits that it’s a little intense sometimes and she remembers the nightmare.
Then she relaxes and things are okay. They discuss how their daughter is coping.
He wishes his other daughter was doing so well.
He fills her in on Phyllis’ blowing up Summer’s marriage. Sharon is just glad Summer has him. He has lots of time to worry since his sister put him of leave.
He has a hunch his sister’s concerns aren’t very sisterly. She suggests he can work at the coffee house. He’s good at refilling the sugar.
They laugh about that.
Looking at the box, she notices it’s from an out-of-state law firm and decides that can’t be good.
Opening it, she finds a letter addressed to her. It’s from the lawyer representing Cameron’s estate.
Per his instructions, she was sent the items in the box following his death.
“This cannot be happening!” Sharon complains. He offers to burn the box but she thinks they should look through it first.
Cameron can’t hurt them anymore.
It’s filled with Cameron’s teenage journals, which are packed with complaints about “losers” and his ambitions.
It also has his dog’s ashes and a photo of his family with his parents’ faces ripped out.
They find the paperwork for his company Kirsten Incorporated.
His entire business has been signed over to her.
They assume this must be a crazy game. He’s toying with her from beyond the grave. The attorney wants her to contact him.
Nick says this proves his sick devotion to her. She doesn’t want it, even if it’s worth a fortune. Sharon declares this is garbage and dumps the paperwork.
She changes the topic to Sally and Adam. They wish they could grieve together. Nick warned him to give Sally some time and space. She’s moved on and Adam will do whatever he wants.
“Some people don’t know how to fade into the woodwork,” he says. They stare at the box from Cameron.
At the Abbott estate, Kyle has coffee and flashes back to sex with Audra. He gets a little smile. Jack shows up and asks if he’s thinking that what happened yesterday should never have happened.
Jack is just talking about the war in the family. He knows he must be upset with Summer because of Phyllis. Kyle insists on blaming his wife.
She’s lied to him and threatened his mother’s future. Jack says she wants to make amends but Kyle is having none of it.
“I don’t know who she is anymore or maybe I’m finally seeing she really is her mother’s daughter,” he says. Jack thinks he’s being harsh.
Kyle announces they are separating and he asked her to move out.
Sitting down, Jack is sorry to hear that. His son thinks this was inevitable. His wife has betrayed everything they had.
His father knows he’s in pain but reminds her there has been a lot of forgiveness in the house. They’ve forgiven Diane.
When Kyle sees Summer, he sees someone who doesn’t trust him. There is no coming back from what she’s done.
Jack knows how blinding anger is and urges him to take his time making his choice. His son insists that his wife has proved she will always side with her chaotic mother.
Phyllis will swoop back into town, face almost no charges, and return to her old ways, dragging his wife into everything. His father thinks Summer is remorseful but Kyle continues to vent about how she sacrificed their marriage.
No matter how forgiving Diane maybe now, when she and Phyllis come face to face again, all bets are off. He is sure that his dad is already worried about that. Jack concedes it.
His son insists he needs to protect Harrison and that means cutting Summer out of his life.
Once Kyle takes off, Summer arrives and guesses her husband told Jack everything.
He’s sorry and gives her a hug.
She’s sorry too and takes responsibility for what she did. Jack can’t hate her. She was just protecting her mother.
Summer has tried apologizing but it only seems to push Kyle further away.
She’s never stopped loving him and he doesn’t want to hear it.
Jack says there is no forcing forgiveness. Maybe a separation will give Kyle the chance to cool down.
Summer feels like it’s all final. Jack loves her but has to support his son’s decisions.
She asks how she and Kyle can even work together now.
He says she is the brand so if she and Kyle can’t work together, his son will have to be the one to step away.
Kyle mopes into crimson lights, where he bumps into Mariah, who assumes that Summer’s bitchiness has him in the dumps.
He doesn’t want to talk about it but they sit down and do so.
He tells her about Summer siding with her mom and being obsessed with bringing her home. She’s been lying to him for weeks and can’t stop apologizing.
Kyle doesn’t think things can ever go back to the way they were. She’s sorry to hear that. They built a life together.
He can see now what she saw all along and refuses to raise his child in Summer and Phyllis’ “toxicity.”
Mariah thought being right would feel better than this.
She admits that Summer came to her but she said she wasn’t good enough for him. As screwed up as Summer may be, she’s sure she loves him.
Under the broken pieces of his heart, he may love her too.
He says this has nothing to do with love. It’s about trust. When he asked for a separation, she threw it back at him.
Mariah thinks he’s doing the right thing and tells him to call if he needs to talk.
As soon as she leaves, Audra shows up and whispers hell into his ear. They smile at each other.

“I have become aware that you and a relationship with a member of my family and have to give you a serious warning,” Victor tells Audra.
Speaking to Kyle, Summer says, “I guess there’s only one thing to do. Harrison, can you come down here for a moment?”
Standing by Cameron’s box, Sharon tells Nick, “I have an idea, but you would have to get your hands dirty.”
He answers, “Whatever it takes.”
