Wednesday, July 5, 2023, Y&R day ahead episode recap: Chloe tries distracting Sally, Billy encourages Chelsea to take Summer’s job offer, and Victor warns Audra about Adam.
Tuesday’s Y&R day ahead recap: Jack asked Kyle to resign from Marchetti, Summer moved out after breaking the news to Harrison as Lily agreed to move into the penthouse.

Audra strolls into Society and spots Victor, who asks her to join him. He hopes he’s not keeping her from more important things. She says that would be impossible and it’s an honor to have a one-on-one with him.
He says flattery is fine as long as it’s genuine. Victor explains that Newman is more than a business, it’s family, and he doesn’t like lines being crossed.
He’s become aware that she and a member of his family have become “acquainted” and he needs to give her a warning.
She gets apologetic but he’s just talking about Adam. He knows she bumped into him and assumes his son orchestrated that. She assures him she gave away nothing about Newman Media.
Victor warns her that his son is planning to take over the company. Is she ready for the battle? His son doesn’t make idle threats.
She assures him the company will be safe and she’ll give Adam a war if he wants one. Pointing out that he owns both companies, she asks why he is playing both sides.
He tells her not to concern herself with his angle. He just wants her to make sure his son doesn’t take over Newman Media.
In her suite, Sally gets out of bed and sighs. Nick sends a text to say he’s on the way to distract her. Adam shoves a note under her door and walks off.
She picks it up and wonders what it is now. Nick knocks at the door and she snaps, imagining it’s Adam.
Nick comes in and asks what his brother wants now. She says the more she asks him to back off, the more persistent he gets.
He feels for what his brother is going through but hoped he’d give her some space. A fight with his brother reminded him of something they need to deal with.
He knows he wasn’t there when she needed him. Sally doesn’t blame him. He had to save his daughter and she gets that more than ever now.
Nick knows that’s rational but he still wasn’t there. She hates how manipulative Adam is being and declares there is no room for her in his life and dumps his letter in the trash.
Taking her hand, Nick tells her he’s there to support her. She knows he’s been through a lot. They chat about Victoria’s motives in putting him on leave.
He’s got a feeling that if it’s up to Nate, he won’t have a job to return to. He won’t sweat it and tells her not to worry.
She’s climbing the walls. Everything in the room is reminding her of what’s happened. She’s been avoiding speaking to Chloe about what’s happening at work.
He urges her to call her. Work or a visit could be what she needs.
Nick joins his father at Society and Victor tells him he had nothing to do with his forced sabbatical and opposed it.
They chat about Faith and Victor has been playing chess with her each week. His son urges him to focus more on the chess match Victoria is playing.
Victor asks him to help Adam. His son is sure he’s the last person Adam wants to talk to and he doesn’t want to get involved.
His father encourages him to suggest to Sally that speaking to Adam would be good. They could share their grief. He still thinks Adam can change.
Nick says that Adam has always been his father’s blindspot. Victor admits there is some truth to that and asks if he can give Adam one more chance.
He begs him to work with Adam at McCall. He’s not sure that anyone can help now, but maybe Nick can help him straighten out.
Billy and Chelsea are having breakfast at the GCAC. She’s happy to have fancy waffles. Daniel wanders over with good news about Omegasphere.
The numbers for her game are starting to take off and there have been great reviews.
Summer jogs in and tells Chelsea she’s on her to-do list for today. She wanted to follow up on her idea to have her work at Marchetti.
Daniel asks his sister if she’s trying to poach his talent. Summer says she’s just sharing the creative wealth.
Chelsea reminds her that she turned her down already but Summer explains things have changed at Marchetti. Kyle is leaving and she’s becoming CEO so she wants Chelsea to be creative director.
Daniel leads his sister away. Billy needs to get back to the office.
Daniel asks his sister what’s going on. “Kyle and I have separated,” she explains.
They get a table and he asks if they can work through this. She says it’s not final. He wonders why she’s optimistic.
Summer just thinks it will take time. They always get back together. He hopes so.
She’s clinging to hope and he encourages her to be realistic. They inherited a fierce ability to deny reality from their mother and look where that went.

Comings and goings: Vail Bloom returns
Billy and Chelsea get to Crimson Lights and he makes a call to find out why Kyle is no longer at Marchetti. He explains the situation to Chelsea and she says it makes sense why Summer was so intense.
He thinks the offer is a great opportunity and he would love to see her around the office.
She’s not sure she can handle all that public pressure. Again, he urges her to consider it.
Chloe shows up and he leaves to let them catch up.
Immediately, Chelsea fills her in about the Marchetti job. It’s huge, but is it too much?
Chloe doesn’t feel equipped to give advice. How can she weigh in when she didn’t do more when she needed her most?
Chelsea reminds her she’s not responsible for her depression. She didn’t reach out when she should have. Her friend has always fought for them and she pushed her away.
They hold hands and Chloe tells her she’s there for all things always.
Chloe stops by Sally’s suite to see how she’s doing. It hasn’t been easy and Sally’s not sure she should go back to work. Her friend assures her she has everything covered.
Sally admits she’s having a hard time thinking about anything. A distraction would help so they discuss paint colors and sofas.
Spectra appreciates her taking over and they try to slowly get into it. They sketch and Chloe loves seeing her smile again.
That makes Sally sob. Chloe assures her she’s not betraying her daughter by being happy.
Sally is sure Eva would have loved her aunt Chloe. They hug. Chloe needs to run. She suggests they set up a meeting with Lily and Devon.
“I would like to join,” Sally says. She thanks her friend again.
Once Chloe leaves, Sally takes Adam’s letter from the trash and reads it. He knows he can’t ease her pain. They are the only two people who know what it’s like to lose Eva. He hopes that there can be healing.
Losing Eva has bound them for eternity and he wants to support her through this.
He offers to wait for her downstairs until noon.
When Audra arrives at the GCAC, she gets a bouquet with a note from Kyle.
Summer walks by and spots her and the flowers.
She swans over and Audra says it’s just a congratulations on her new job.
Summer recognizes the jeweler’s box and says she must have impressed her aunt.
Audra says it’s likely a fountain pen and asks if she’s staying there.
Summer says it’s temporary…like her position.
After she walks off, Adam wanders over and Audra says she’s been warned about him.
He’s sure she’s never listened to a warning in her life and walks off.
After she puts away her flowers, she goes to the bar and sits by Adam.
He asks who the flowers were from and who warned her about him.
He’s curious about where her loyalties lie. She’s only the temporary CEO and he bets she hates that.
She has a reputation for betraying her employers, so what’s the chance she’d do that again?
He tells her she’s made a big mistake underestimating him and suggests she get ready for the biggest battle in her life.
It’s after noon so he leaves.
Daniel stops by Summer’s suite. He tells her that he texted their mom about her separation. Summer says he had no right but he thinks it’s their mom’s fault and she needs to face that. Maybe this will bring her back.
