Tuesday, July 18, Y&R day ahead recap: Sharon gives Adam something to think about, Nick remains pessimistic about Victor’s push for unity, and Phyllis is desperate to have the charges dropped.
Monday’s Y&R day ahead: Summer smelled perfume on Kyle, and later noticed it matched Audra’s scent as Christine believed Phyllis was Stark’s partner in crime.

Adam strides into Crimson Lights and finds Sharon on the patio. He tells her that he’s walking away from Adustus. If they work together on Kirsten’s company, they can turn his father’s plans into dust. She doesn’t think he’ll like her answer.
He gets offended and she lectures him for getting angry. Sharon knows he’s disappointed with his father’s choice but she can see his logic.
His plan to attack Newman Media is attacking the parent company. Adam insists this is not about destruction but about escaping from his father’s mindgames.
She’s not interested in going to war with his father. She wanted a merger of two companies. Simply taking him on board would make her look weak.
He’s ready to walk, but she gets him to sit and tells him he’s reacting the way he always does to his father. Adam doesn’t want his father to dictate his life.
Sharon encourages him to imagine what they could do with their two companies together. He’s sure they will have zero autonomy but she thinks they can earn it by being successful. Nick could be a great asset and they could build a new beginning for all of them.
Chance interrupts. Adam tells Sharon she’s given him a lot to think about and he’ll be in touch. He takes off.
Chance smiles at Sharon and rubs his hands.
They haven’t stopped thinking about each other. He asks her out. She can’t go. He really wants to kiss her again.
Sharon can’t ditch work but promises she will call him soon. She fills him in on her conversation with Adam and she refused to anything other than a merger.
The cop doesn’t think Adam is capable of acting rationally rather than emotionally. He reminds her that Nick and Adam need her more than she needs then.
At the ranch, Nick admits he’s skeptical about his father’s plan. Victoria isn’t and is happy to knock Adam down a few pegs. Her father makes it clear that this is not about her. He will be calling all the shots.
They bicker about Adam. Nick says that they don’t need to rehash all this. His sister says nothing changes with their brother and that’s why she think Nick should be keeping an eye on Adustus.
Nick doesn’t appreciate them giving Nate his job. He has reservations. Victor agrees but thinks he can be a valuable asset.
The siblings bicker. Nick isn’t happy. His father tells him to get over it. Newman family unity will be achieved even if he has to force it.
Nick points out he’s tried pushing the three of them to work together before but it’s always failed. Victor has faith in him making this work.
After Nick takes off, Victor asks his daughter to stay. She assumes he’s annoyed. Victoria thinks that all of this is panning out the way she wanted. She’s learned everything from him.
Hugging her, he tells her how proud he is.
Nick runs into Adam in the park. He tells his brother not to sulk about what their dad did. Adam thinks he should be furious about having his job yanked away.
Nick sees this situation as an opportunity. Just because their father suggested it, doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea. He’s seen the future and he can choose to be part of it or not.
If Adam goes it alone, he will be stuck on the outside playing the victim. Nick says they can work together and turn around two companies. That’s easier than trying to out-maneuver Victor.
Grudgingly, Adam gives in and agrees to work with his brother and Sharon. They shake on it.

Kyle and Audra are in the lobby at the GCAC. She tells him not to be intimidated by the stack of work she left on his desk. As they talk about his energy, Summer comes down the stairs and asks him to talk.
Audra takes off.
They get a table. Summer tries to get him to open his heart a little so they can talk and find a way back. He can’t get past her betraying him for her mom’s sake.
She insists there was no malice involved and she never meant to hurt him. There was no malicious intent. She still has hope for them, no matter how naïve that may be.
If he tells her there is no chance and he’s crossed the point of no return, she needs to know.
When he stands up, she demands to know if he slept with Audra. He bluntly admits it. She guesses there really is no hope for them.
“I guess not,” he agrees. She slaps him and walks out.
Tucker bumps into Audra in the park and they brag about how good things have been going for them.
He asks if she’s still trying to turn a boy into a man. She’s flattered that he cares.
He’s very confident that everything with Ashley will work out as he’s planned. He tells her to enjoy her “little friend” and she tells him to enjoy his “whatever.”
Phyllis saunters into Society and sits down with her son, complaining that everyone’s eyes are bugging out seeing her. She’s feeling ashamed and wants to fix what she broke.
She loudly complains about people looking at her and tells her son how happy she is to be having breakfast with him. He understands that she’s rattled and asks what’s going on.
Phyllis knows how well he knows her and she doesn’t want to hide from her kids. She knows she’s been an agent of chaos but that has never been intentional. It was all for the greater good.
However, now she can’t justify and make amends to the people she’s hurt. She even wants to tell Diane how sorry she is.
Daniel asks if this is for real or just a show.
Summer arrives and her mom instantly guesses something happened with Kyle. Her daughter doesn’t want to discuss that.
Phyllis isn’t convinced that Christine is going to drop things. The DA has wanted to put her in prison for years and Carson’s testimony likely won’t keep her out.
Until the charges are dropped, it’s ridiculous to pretend she might not wind up in prison. Her kids tells her this can’t all have been for nothing.
Daniel gets her to concentrate on the next steps. They all stare as Tucker walks in. Daniel wonders what is going on between his mother and him. She pretends to be baffled.
Phyllis prods her daughter to let her help her. Summer declares she’s late for work and snaps at her for ruining their lives. Apologizing, she says she’s happy she’s back and takes off.
Her mom knows she’s just upset about Kyle. She needs to admit she can’t fix her kids’ problems, only herself. Her son thinks she’s sounding “evolved.”
Phyllis claims she has and will do better, whatever it takes. Her son leaves for work.
Phyllis immediately walks over to Tucker. He can see she’s not willing to express outward gratitude and asks what her plan is. He needs reassurance she will follow through on their arrangement.
He advises her not to consider backing out. He can make Carson disappear and land her in prison for years. What is her plan to get under Diane’s skin?
