Lucy is with her mom at Daniel’s, wondering when she will move in. Heather tells her to cool her rolls.
That’s hard for Lucy. It’s like the most exciting thing in the world.
Her mom is excited too. They wish they could skip to the good part.
Heather assures her that will happen but Lucy worries something could change when her dad sees Lily.
Her mom says that patience sucks but that’s what they need right now. “Deal?” she asks.
Lucy wants a mochaccino to close that deal and they head out, bumping into Danny on the way.
They wonder if he’s okay. He claims his head is just on his album.
Phyllis runs into Diane in the foyer of the GCAC. After forcing some compliments, Phyllis says that she has a special glow these days.
Diane fills her in on her promotion. “Head of rubber band balls?” Phyllis asks.
Crossing her arms, Diane declares that she’s running Jabot side by side with her husband. All of it, not just Phyllis’ puny old division.
Phyllis has to admit it’s impressive that she got exactly what she went for, Jack’s ring on her finger and his company under her thumb.
Diane suggests her glow is fading and Phyllis starts bragging about the man she has in her life is better than some pity position from her husband.
Daniel runs into Devon at Crimson Lights and is immediately asked if he’s come clean with Lily yet.
Devon asks if he’s going to keep cheating on her until the right time.
Daniel and Heather are not sneaking around or sleeping with each other until this is sorted out. He would tell Lily everything if he thought she was ready.
“Have you talked to Lily since you and Heather started doing it?” Devon pokes, assuming he keeps lying to her.
Daniel says she needs their support now. Devon is sure telling himself that helps his sleep at night.
Keeping quite about this has put Devon is an awkward position.
Daniel reminds him of how much he cares about Lily and hopes they can be friends after this.
Devon asks how Heather feels about putting the affair on hold and is told she understands.
He keeps piling on Daniel, reminding him of how hard this will make things at work. He can understand what he’s trying to do but his sister deserves better.
Daniel hates it too, but is Devon really in any place where he can judge. He reminds him of what happened with Abby and Amanda.
Devon gets that but his sister has been through too much. Daniel knows. Lily was his first love and is one of his oldest friends.
If that’s all true, Devon asks, what happened?
Daniel explains it was a very in-the-moment relationship whereas he sees a future with Heather.
“I guess you gotta do what you gotta do,” says Devon, but he won’t lie to his sister if she asks him straight out.
Heather and Lucy arrive and Devon takes off. They tell Daniel that Danny seems a bit upset.
They ask him to have mochaccinos but he thinks he should check on his dad.
As Lucy gets the drinks, Daniel recaps his conversation with Devon for Heather.
She really hopes this is resolved sooner rather than later. He takes off.
Lucy brings the drinks over and toasts with her mom to being a family again as Phyllis strides in.
They tell her that her son just left to check on his dad.
When Daniel gets back to his place, he finds his dad working and asks if he’s in a funk. He’s not as excited as he usually is when he’s recording.
Danny tells him romance is a pain in the neck.
His son isn’t thrilled when he explains that Phyllis told him how she felt about him. She kissed him, Christine saw it and they both think it’s more than this is.
Daniel’s amazed his dad has let this happen. That’s not helping Danny.
He’s determined to back away from both of them. He insists this is not a triangle but it’s a mess.
He loves Christine but has a duty to Phyllis. His son tells him he owes his mom nothing.
Danny thinks she deserves more than just being cut out. All he can do right now is distract himself with music.
His son knows what it’s like to have your world derailed.
He admits he and Heather are back together… it’s new and Lily doesn’t know. It’s not a good time to tell her so they are keeping it quiet.
Lucy knows and her dad just hopes she can keep it to herself.
His dad reminds him that the three of them were happy. He’s happy for all of them.
It still kills Daniel to lie to Lily. His father assures him he’s a good person and can find the words.
When he asks for some advice, Daniel tells him, “Buckle up buttercup.”
Phyllis shows up. Danny sighs.
Daniel has to take a call from Lily and steps out.
Phyllis acts like it’s a surprise to see Danny there and he reminds her they are taking a break.
She takes off her coat and tells him she may be a wild card, but it’s meant so much that they’ve been able to talk and laugh.
She knows she gets carried away but she feels really good around him.
He thinks she sounds sincere but that leads to her pulling stunts.
“There is no you and me,” he insists. She knows she’s done things to regret but takes responsibility for that.
If he could give her a chance, she could give him something he doesn’t even know he needs.
Danny is adamant this won’t happen.
Their son returns and Danny runs off to his studio.
Daniel asks his mom if she just put his dad in an impossible position.
She suggests they are meant to be together but Christine keeps insinuating herself between them and throwing fits.
“Maybe we’re kismet just like you and Heather,” she suggests, sure Danny will see this eventually.
On his way out, Danny bumps into Christine.

Mishael Morgan (Amanda) returns
Victor is aghast when he and Jack walk into The Empty Glass Lounge and find Nikki nearly passed out on a table.
As Victor helps up his “sweet baby,” she looks over at Jack and demands to know what he did.
She cries that nothing is alright and this is Jack’s fault. They help her up and out the door.
As Victor and Nikki drive, he calls his people to make sure the bar knows they aren’t to serve his wife again.
Nikki feels like she is a mess. He asks why she chose Jack as her sponsor.
She knows he hates the Abbott and doesn’t want to burden him. She needs a sponsor to get through this and that’s not him.
He complains this means Jack will be an intimate part of their lives.
His wife assures him she will still lean on him but Jack is the right choice.
“Don’t try to take this from me,” she says.
She wants to eat something and then see Jack. Then he can hear both of them say why he’s the best sponsor.
Victor is sure there must be other options but this is how she wants to fight the disease.
He agrees to go and see Jack but will be giving him a piece of his mind.
Jack gets to the Abbott estate and pours himself a drink, flashing back to fighting with Victor about Nikki’s drinking when he was married to her.
Diane arrives, happy to be home after her run-in with Phyllis.
Her husband explains that he told Victor that he’s Nikki sponsor. He hated breaking her trust but thought it was necessary.
He and Victor just dragged her out of a dive bar. His wife tells him he did the right thing.
Jack says Victor reacted with the usual bluster but seems to have come around to him being her sponsor.
“He doesn’t get to call the shots this time,” Jack says. He’s determined to give his friend all the help he can give her.
Victor and Nikki show up.
Raising his finger, Victor declares that things are not finished. He assumes Diane knows and begs her not to tell anyone.
Diane will respect their privacy and leaves them alone.
Once they sit, Jack knows she must be angry with him for telling Victor the truth. She was but now she understands.
He hopes that her husband can understand too.
Nikki tells Victor that it was her idea to keep this a secret and she didn’t want to put him through this.
“Sweetheart, you know damn well that I would go through hell for you,” says Victor.
She doesn’t want anything to change and is sure Jack won’t let her down.
Victor thinks he’s already made it worse. His wife says she’s trying hard to regain the sobriety was violently taken from her.
Nikki needs a sponsor she can rely on and trust and that’s Jack, no matter how upsetting that may be to Victor.
He agrees to abide by her wishes, no matter how much he disagrees. But if anything happens to Nikki, Jack will have hell to pay.
