In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Diane and Jack do some flashing back to their past and then she reveals what she wants, while Lauren and Phyllis discuss the men in their lives. In the previous episode, Lauren tried to talk Michael out of working with Victor, and Michael explained what happened to him.

Jack arrives at Diane’s house in L.A. He doesn’t want to be there but knows she’s not going to let it go until she says what she has to say. She knows he’s angry.
He spits that she dragged his grieving granddaughter in this and says she’s off limits. Nobody will be in on this.
Diane claims she was reaching out through Allie to give him his son, who he didn’t know he lost. She’s trying to make amends. Jack talks to her about what she stole from Kyle that he’ll never get back.
He flashes to telling a young Kyle that his mother loved him and that there was nothing she wouldn’t have done for him. He tells Diane he’ll never forgive her for pulling out that little boy’s heart.
She gets it but thinks if he listens, he’ll finally understand. Deacon Sharpe gave her a corpse from the morgue and they paid off anyone who could reveal the truth.
She couldn’t meet up with Kyle and knew they’d never outrun Jack. She couldn’t do that to Kyle. She cries, knowing how crushed he was.
She felt broken and worthless and convinced herself she was better off. She knew Jack would do what he could for their son, make him safe, and love him. Diane had nobody and came out west.
Jack yells that she ran away. She knows everyone wanted her gone. She was hated. She hated herself! The guilt, shame, and self-loathing made her fake her death. Jack calls it self-pity that motivated her.
Not caring about anyone else. She claims she went to therapy and looked at what she did and why. It took years to come to terms with who she was.
She remembers seeing him on the internet and feeling pure joy. “We’re grandparents.”
Jack disputes that they are anything and demands to know what she wants. They discuss their relationship and he calls it mostly bad.
He flashes back to them at dinner and how he told Phyllis all about her and that their entire relationship was a waste of time. “Ouch,” Diane had said. It hurt but she said she was well.
He had realized then that victor did him a favor by taking her off his hands. He comes back to the present and Diane thinks they’re too much alike.
She flashes to fishing out a diamond ring when Jack proposed. Jack tears up. Any warm or neutral feelings he had for her are gone. Obliterated by this latest stunt. This shocks Diane, who thinks they’re connected by their son.
Jack doesn’t think she’s normal, the way she contacted him through Keemo, Allie and then by buying his house. She felt it was time. Finally, she reveals what she wants. “You want me to help connect you to Kyle,” Jack says, astounded.
She claims she’s changed and wants to be a healthy presence in his life. He reminds her that she changed his name to Timothy and shipped him off to boarding school.
She regrets it and insists she’s changed. She reminds him he used to be cold and calculated. He’s not that man anymore, so why is it impossible to think she’s changed? Jack will never let her destroy his life.
He grieved. Cried. He was lost, confused and heartbroken. He deserves a real mother, and that isn’t her. He takes off, leaving her crying.
From Grand Phoenix, Phyllis calls Jack and leaves a message to see how he is and to invite him to call her anytime to talk. Lauren appears for a massage to make her relax. She’s going through something.
Phyllis will book it but she has a better idea. “Want to talk to a friend?”
Lauren would love it. She could use a chat. They sit and she can’t get into specifics, but shares that a routine assignment was anything but. She went days without hearing from him. Phyllis is surprised.
Why is it that the thing they love about someone is the thing that drives us crazy?
Crystal saunters by looking gorgeous in her green dress as Lauren turns the tables and asks about her relationship with Jack.
Phyllis admits she’s starting to wonder if she should worry about him. She doesn’t say much about what he’s doing, though she’s worried about what he’s facing alone.
At the cafe, Jack texts Allie to meet and then flashes back to telling Phyllis how he was sucked into Diane’s web and how Victor got Diane out of his life. Allie texts that she’ll be right over.
He says the final blow came when Diane learned the baby wasn’t Victor’s, but his. He recalls telling Phyllis that Kyle was his, that he left a sample at a reproduction lab when he had a scare with testicular cancer. Phyllis was in shock.
Jack calls Phyllis to tell her he’s spent time with Allie and will tell her about it when he returns. She knows something else is going on. He’ll talk about it when he gets back and asks her not to worry.
Allie turns up and says she feels violated still by Diane. Jack’s so sorry. Diane wants to be with Kyle, and it’s the last thing he needs. Allie grins. She can see some of her dad in Jack, who could be protective.
Jack turns talk to his family and asks what she’d like to know. She laughs, calling this surreal. She tells him about being a mathlete and how Keemo would come to all of her events.
Back at her house, Diane flashes to being with Jack and Kyle as a toddler and how she knew then he didn’t trust her. She fasts forward after Kyle returns from boarding school. Jack wanted to be there for the next father and son event.
She remembers when Jack told her she’d be staying in the pool house to keep distance between her and Phyllis.
He wanted to protect his wife — Phyllis at the time. Diane recalls being angered by him sticking her and Kyle there, out of the way.
Back in Genoa City, Phyllis tells Lauren that there was something in Jack’s voice that was familiar. They talk about Dina’s return when Jack and Traci were young. They were cautious with her but Jack let her in.
Sadly, he got the rug ripped out from underneath him time and time again. Phyllis knows. She’s hurt him a lot.

Nikki says to Victor, “To have Michael held captive in a foreign country. How could he do that?”
Victor tells his wife, “He’s not going to get away with it.”
Billy finds Victoria with Ashland and tells her he needs to speak to her. “Now.”
Phyllis and Jack arrive at Diane’s house. Diane says, “I didn’t know you were in town.”
Phyllis retorts, “I didn’t know you were alive.”
