This is the Canadian Y&R day ahead recap from the Monday, June 28, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Tuesday, June 29. In the previous episode, Summer left Genoa City, and in this episode, Ashland and Victoria learn that a trashy magazine ran a personal story, Ash blames Tara, and Chloe visits Chelsea.
Victoria arrives at Ashland’s room after ending a call with company lawyers. He’s trying to wrap his mind around the enormity of coming together as one with their companies. Ashland starts flirting. She asks him to focus on the merger and save the flirting for another day. He thinks she wants to keep him wanting more. His phone rings and upset, he asks, “How could this have happened?” He shows her a story about him having six months to live and then he takes off.
Chloe vistis Chelsea in the psych ward. She’s not sure if Chelsea is still unhappy with her. Chelsea was stressed the last time they met and says it’s good to see her friend. Chloe’s surprised at how upbeat Chelsea is. “I’m acting normal. It’s my only way out,” she says quietly. Dr. Hedges interrupts and Chloe thanks him. She says it’s obvious Chelsea has made progress. Hedges tells her that it takes time and patience. Chloe goes. Hedges calls her supportive. Chelsea reveals she believes he’s on her side. She’s putting herself in his hands.
Adam leaves his office after locking up and thinks about being in Chelsea’s arms. He remembers kissing her and then talking to her when she was still in her chair, incapacitated. He recalls talking to her about possibly fooling everyone.

Tara hides and eavesdrops while Kyle takes a call at the Abbott mansion about Summer leaving. Tara appears and admits she knows Summer is leaving the country. What can she do? He tells her there isn’t anything she can do. Harrison appears and he goes off with the kid to see what Mrs. Martinez has cooking. Ashland turns up and accuses Tara of leaking private information. She claims she has no idea what he means so he tells her about The Inquisitor article. She doesn’t want his company and never meant to hurt him. She brings up him moving on fast with Victoria and he raises his voice. Kyle appears and asks him to stop it. Harrison will hear. She babbles at him for trying to paint her as the bad guy and goes. Ashland then taunts Kyle about Summer leaving him. They’re in the same boat. He goes and Tara asks Kyle not to let Ash’s taunts about Summer get to him. “He didn’t say anything that wasn’t true,” Kyle says. Tara offers to let him lean on her. He opens up about Summer leaving. She hopes that she and Harrison didn’t play a part in her leaving. Kyle admits she told him there was nothing left to fight for. Tara thinks he’s done everything he could. He thanks her. Talking it through has helped so very much. She thinks it’s because she went through it recently as well. “I think that connects us.” He agrees. She’s right. If he has to go through this, he’s grateful for the company.
At ChanceComm, Lily tells Billy, “You have to see this.” He’s got Kyle on his mind. Lily shows him that The Inquisitor has written about Ash having six months to live. They ponder if it’s true. If so, it makes it a huge story. Lily suggests they get their reporters on it. She’ll do some fishing and he’ll focus on Ashland. This will affect their divorce story on him.

Nikki visits Victor in his office. She hands him a gift. It’s a photo of them hugging for his office. He’s pleased. He’ll put it on his desk in his private office down the hall. They flirt and he reveals he had thoughts of getting her a job with him. She scoffs at that. He’d want her to spy on Victoria for him. He asks if she’s heard about Nicholas and Summer. She hasn’t but hopes Summer will be happy. They’re both melancholy. Adam strolls in, apologetic. Nikki leaves and Adam shows Victor the story about Ashland. They’re excited about their meeting with Locke.
At Crimson Lights, Lily sees Victoria and butters her up over her outfit. She was going to buy it. She asks if she’s seen the article in the trash rag about Ash. Victoria accuses her of fishing. She already shut down Billy. Lily is happy she has someone in her life. “Well thank you for that,” Victoria says, disinterested. She thinks it’s a rumour to try to make him look vulnerable.
At Society, Adam talks business with Ash and Victor. Ash is impressed with his efficiency. They’ve proven daily that they’re a great team. Victor offers to accommodate him if he wants to sell off any other divisions. Adam hates to bring it up but he admits he read the story about his health. Ash doesn’t exactly deny there being truth to the story but he makes it appear as though a gossip rag like that never gets it right. Billy pops up and asks Ash how he’s feeling. Ash shuts him down and after Billy’s gone, Victor calls him a nuisance. Later, Ash is gone and Victor thinks the story about him is true. Adam’s mind is elsewhere. He hasn’t been sleeping. The penthouse is full of ghosts. He’s thinking of moving out and selling. Victor likes the idea but Connor will be coming home soon and Adam knows he needs normalcy. Victor offers the ranch. “Tack house is empty. If you don’t like it, move to the main house.” Adam will think about it.
Victoria walks in on Nikki at work, looking at the Ashland Locke Communications group document which lists acquisitions. She asks why she wasn’t consulted on this. Nikki presses her and finally, Victoria reveals she is merging companies with Ash after he confided in her about his illness. “You are your father’s daughter,” Nikki says. She will keep silent.
Adam visits Chelsea. She’s irate and doesn’t want to see him. He wants to see how she is. She goes a little nutty and he blames himself partially for her being in there. He says Connor’s coming home soon. He thought it’d be motivation for her to earn her release. He’s considering moving into the ranch. “Your new command post,” she says and accuses him of wanting to steal her son. She thinks he’s turning Connor against her. Adam tells her their son loves her. She calls him her biggest enemy.
