On today’s full episode recap of Days of our Lives, Abigail fills in the blanks for Chad, Jake and Kate reunite, and Charlie tells Ava what’s in store for her.
At, Julie’s Place, Claire tells Allie about her boring New Years’ Eve, watching the ball drop. Allie admits hers was the same. Charlie had to work. She swoons over how perfect she thinks Charlie is. She’s not used to being with someone when it’s so easy. Allie thinks that’s great. She recalls thinking he was familiar when they met. He has one of those faces. Allie urges Claire to call since she hasn’t seen him since Christmas.
At home, Charlie feeds Ava soup. She asks how much longer he’ll keep her there for. Will he kill her? He claims he’s not a murderer but he won’t let her go. He tells her not to worry. “I know exactly what I’m going to do with you. I’m going to have you committed.” Ava tells her son she’s not crazy. She was on those pills before, which made her sick. Charlie looks at the soup and tells her she’s back on them and she has been for a while. Ava gasps. How could he? It was easy. He snagged a prescription pad wrote himself a prescription. Ava barks that he can’t do this to her. She promises to do better. When Claire calls, Charlie agrees to meet with her. Ava starts drifting out of consciousness as he leaves.
At the square, Jennifer and Kate discuss her secretive relationship with Jake. Jenn wonders if Kate is embarrassed to be seen with Jake. Kate claims she cares for Jake. She doesn’t care if he knows which fork to use. He’s honest and knows who he is. “And he’s secure in that.” Jenn asks then why is Kate keeping their relationship a secret. Kate admits she’s embarrassed by herself. Jake’s younger than her and she worries everyone will say, “Look at that cougar pouncing on that young, hot guy.” Jennifer reminds her she’s “Kate Fricken Roberts.” Since when does she care what anyone else thinks of her?
Chad walks in on Abigail and Jake in his bedroom. He sees his brother is shirtless, and Abby’s in a robe and he blasts Abigail for cheating. He shows her the bill that she paid for the romantic package at Salem Inn. Abigail’s confused. Chad tries to attack Jake and Abigail tells Jake to go let her handle this. Abby yells that she didn’t book the room and explains that Jake’s been running around with Kate, not her. Chad stammers. That makes no sense to him. Abby explains that her mother found out about it and Jake confirmed it. Chad recalls Gwen said Jake gave her bracelet to Abigail, to which Abigail replies that Kate likely has it now, not her. Abs calls Gwen a liar and tells him all about the newspaper clippings she found in Gwen’s room. Chad chastizes her and Anna for snooping.
Downstairs in the drawing-room, Gwen catches Jack with the newspaper clippings she’s been keeping of their family. She confronts him about having them and he turns the tables and asks why she’s in possession of them at all. Jack tells her Abigail discovered this in her room. Gwen snarks that they’ve no respect for privacy. Gwen claims that she wanted to get to know the family she’s been working for. Jack finds it extremely thorough. It’s about all of them. He lets her know that he and Jennifer compared notes and he knows that she pitted Jennifer against him. “I believe the words were, once a cheater, always a cheater.” He asks if Gwen had anything to do with the disastrous party. He suggests she’s been plotting against them and Gwen asks why she would. She cites all of the nasty things he’s done like cheating and abandoning his family. Jack cops to it all but that doesn’t mean she knows him. “You don’t want me for an enemy,” he spits and storms off, leaving Gwen shaking. Gwen mutters to herself about Jack being close when he talked about family. Abby and Chad appear and Abs asks why she has the clippings. Gwen lies that she wanted to get to know them. Chad thinks that’s reasonable. Abby asks why she lied about seeing her kissing Jake. Gwen admits she made it up. Chad stammers that if he had known that he wouldn’t have…
Jake interrupts Jenn and Kate at the square. Jenn goes, leaving Kate to think about how much Jake means to her. Jake tells Kate about the argument Chad had with him and Abigail since he thinks they’re having an affair. He thought Kate should know that Chad likely knows about them by now. Kate thanks him for telling her. She reveals she doesn’t want things to be over between them. He’s not into sneaking around anymore and she reveals that she’s not ashamed of him. She confesses she’s insecure about the age difference. But she wants to be with him. He’s worth it. Jake kisses her.
Charlie arrives at Julie’s and Allie picks up her things to go. When Charlie says, “Arrivederci,” Allie gets a strange look on her face.
