Thurs May 10, 2024: Today on Young and Restless, Victor plays his cards close to the vest; Victoria defends Claire; Phyllis spars with Diane.
Wednesday’s recap: Victor Toys With Jordan and Phyllis Tries to Reason With Summer While Kyle Allows Claire Time Alone With Harrison

Summer and Phyllis catch Harrison sitting with Claire, Kyle and Victoria at Chancellor Park. She’s not happy about it and rushes to confront them.
She hugs Harrison and Victoria says, “We were having such a lovely day.”
Harrison hugs Phyllis and he tells her he and Claire were kidnapped by a witch. Claire calls him strong.
Phyllis and Summer agree.
Phyllis introduces herself to Claire as Harrison’s very protective grandma and Kyle frowns, seeing right through Phyllis.
Claire’s glad to hear that she’s protective and Victoria snaps that she should have warned Claire about Red.
“That’s the thing about warnings,” Phyllis says, “Not everyone’s paying attention to them.”
Victoria’s glad Harrison made a new friend and when Summer tells him it’s time to go home for lunch, he wants Claire to go.
Claire begs off and takes off with Victoria.
Phyllis and Harrison go to the playground while Summer confronts Kyle.
He lets her know the visit was unplanned.
They were barely out of sight feeding ducks.
Summer says last time he was barely out of sight he was kidnapped.
She knows Claire was a victim too but she was clear about not wanting her to spend time with their son.
Kyle couldn’t blow her off. Summer points out that he didn’t mind blowing her off.
Summer’s traumatized each time she sees Claire.
She wonders if Kyle would have told her if she hadn’t come upon it.
He didn’t think it was a big deal and says it’s over.
Summer says fine and questions what Victoria meant when she asked him to think about what she asked.
Kyle tells his ex she’s overreacting and Summer can’t believe he’s going to disrespect her boundaries like this.
Phyllis returns with the kid and they head back to the house.
Summer wants to stick around in case Claire makes a surprise visit.
At the Abbott house, Jack and Diane are still arguing about whether or not he’ll relapse.
She’s thinking of leaving because of this, though she doesn’t want to.
Jack defends Nikki who could have had alcohol poisoning.
Diane thinks he could have taken the bottle from her but Jack tells her that’s not how it works.
Diane asks what the AA members would think of what he did.
Jack accepts that taking pills was foolish.
If he had thought it through, some safe option could have come to him but it was an emergency. It worked.
Jack’s sorry he put Diane through this. Diane feels he’d say anything to keep her from leaving but he regrets what he did.
She tells him he wasn’t thinking of her or the consequences.
Jack apologizes and calls it a one-off.
He wants to regain her trust but his word isn’t good enough.
What if he liked being high? She talks about needing space but he wants them to work together.
She encourages him to go to a 12-step program. He will do that for him and her.
She’s so hurt, she says it’ll take more than an apology for her to be okay with what happened.
He understands and begs her not to leave. She has a presentation at the office and has to go.

In the Newman ranch dungeon, Jordan knows Victor needs her and won’t let her rot in the cell.
He denies needing her.
She’ll do anything and offers to play “checkers.”
She reminds him of her ability to take risks. She can smell fear and manipulate it. Ask Nikki.
Victor calls her a delusional vicious bitch and orders her never to mention Nikki again.
She smirks. Whatever the Great and Powerful Victor Newman wants.
Upstairs, Victoria shares what happened at the park with Cole.
She’s infuriated and insulted by Summer and Phyllis showed up with her “dragon breath to play back up.”
Victor turns up, all smiles. Victoria asks where he was.
She saw ‘Joan’ who said he was home but she hadn’t seen him.
Victor lies that he was feeding She couldn’t find him. He was feeding Califa some carrots at the stable. Victoria’s glad.
They talk about missing Nikki and Cole and Victoria brings up Claire wanting to work with children.
Since Kyle and Summer are looking for a nanny for Harrison, they think it’s a perfect fit.
Victor asks what the issue is. “Summer,” Victoria says. She’s wary of Claire. 
Victor refuses to agree to vouch for Claire, as much as he’d love to help her.
He doesn’t want her around the toxicity of the Abbott household.
Victoria reminds her dad that Jack took the pills “not to party with mom but shock sense into her.”
Victor maintains his stance.
He thinks Claire can become Victoria’s assistant when she returns to work but Victoria admits that’s an issue.
She hasn’t decided if or when she’ll return to Newman. Victor thinks that’s stupid and urges her to get back to work.
She and Cole explain they want to help settle Claire into her new life.
Besides, the kids will be home soon.
Victor gets a drink. He doesn’t care.
He gets back to her original question about Claire working for the Abbott’s and won’t let it happen. Victoria doesn’t understand and questions him.
He tells her it’s because Jack’s the SOB who almost ruined her mother’s life.
He doesn’t want Claire around him or the rest of the family.
He believes Jack’s close to popping pills and he doesn’t want Claire around it.
He stomps off without a word and Cole and Victoria ponder what Victor is planning. He doesn’t want them near the Abbotts when it happens.
Down in the dungeon, Jordan paces and calls for Victor to tell her what he wants from her.
Phyllis joins Diane at her table at Crimson Lights, though Diane tells her, “Not today.”
Phyllis asks if she shares Summer’s concerns about Claire.
She thought her kid was being high-strung at first but Claire’s being all “palsy-walsy” with the kid and it’s weird.
Diane reminds Red that Claire was a victim, too.
“Whatever,” Phylis says and reminds Diane Claire just got out of the psych ward.
Diane says there’s no threat but Phyllis disagrees.
Diane says they’ve had enough drama and asks her to stay in her own lane.
Red reminds Diane Summer’s her daughter and Diane asks her to give Claire a chance.
Phyllis worries the girl can be psycho.
Diane says they’ve both been seen as psychos at one point or another.
This finger pointing doesn’t look good.
Phyllis says she wanted to see Claire’s point of view.
She empathized with her but Claire tried to kill her family. She’s a wild card.
Diane says she was brainwashed and got help.
When Phyllis tells her that Kyle might allow her to become the nanny, Diane’s taken aback.
Still, it’s up to Kyle and Summer.
Phyllis thinks they should intervene since Kyle’s not listening to Summer.
Diane refuses and won’t tell Jack. Phyllis is baffled.
“What is going on with you?” Diane says nothing.
She has to get to work and rushes out.
Back at the Abbott house, Summer, Kyle and Harrison find Jack alone.
Harrison tells him the story about feeding the ducks.
Summer takes him for a grilled cheese sandwich while Kyle asks if Jack’s okay. He’d like to help.
Jack tells him his mom is dealing with stress.
Kyle’s grateful they didn’t lose him and offers to lend an ear if he wants to talk about his relationship with his mom.
They rehash the pill taking and why Jack did it.

Sally asks Audra how she knows when it’s finally time to cut and run.
Alan tells Traci that he’s afraid it’s worse than he thought. There is obviously more than one personality at play here. “And the one I just spoke to is rather concerning.”
Lily tells Devon and Nate that she’s been very loyal to Jill and this is a complete betrayal. “We have to respond accordingly.”
Nate tells Devon, “You do realize she’s going to explode when we do this, right?”
Devon doesn’t care. She dropped a bomb on them and they’re going to return the favor.
