Friday, July 28, Y&R day ahead recap: Adam and Nick argue about the direction of the company, Phyllis tells her kids about Adam’s offer, and Sharon offers Mariah a job.
Thursday’s Y&R day ahead: Jack and Diane got married, Victor taught Adam a painful lesson, and Audra and Kyle went public.

Daniel strolls into the jazz lounge, happily texting Lily.
He finds his mopey sister drinking at the bar. He brags about how great his life is going. She wonders if playing his “damn videogame” would improve her life.
Nick barges into Phyllis’ suite and tears into her over what she did to their daughter.
He offers to pay all of her legal fees if she’s acquitted, but only if she leaves town forever.
He never wants to see her again. No one does.
Phyllis snaps out of this dream.
She jogs down to the lounge where her children immediately remind her that she faked her death there.
Phyllis declares she’s letting that go. It’s the past and she can’t change it so now she’s a different person.
She used to think the Grand Phoenix was her most significant second chance, but it’s actually her future with her beautiful children.
Tearing up and cracking her voice, she promises there will be no missteps and she will do all she can to fix things.
Changing the subject, she asks what they’d think of her working with Adam. That seems like a strange first step to redemption for her children.
As she talks about becoming the IT whiz to pay her legal fees.
Plus, Stark took half of what she had. Her kids offer to bail her out but she claims she needs to keep her mind busy and be a productive member of society.
Summer gets that but thinks Adam is the wrong fit, offering to find her something at Marchetti.
Thanking her, her mom insists that she can handle Adam. She’s more worried about Nick and Sharon. She can tolerate Sharon but doubts Nick will ever forgive her.
Her kids are sure Nick will come around. Their mom continues beating herself up until they say “what happened happened” and they’re glad she’s not dead. If she wants to move on and be in the present, she should take the job with Adam.
Summer thinks that could be good for her image and adds Nick has forgiven her for a lot of other terrible things so they can be friends again. That means a lot to her mom.
Phyllis wishes she could take credit for them being so compassionate but that all goes to their fathers.
She starts ranting that the new and improved Phyllis won’t matter if Christine gets her way and puts her behind bars.
Summer is sure that the jury will sympathize with her and Carson will help. Phyllis has doubts he’ll come through for her.
Her daughter says no more doom and gloom.
Daniel says she has their support and love and Summer urges her to believe all will be okay. Their mom takes their hands and giggles.
After Phyllis leaves, the kids note how scared she seemed when they brought up Carson. It seems like there could be a problem.
Daniel recalls that Michael seemed to think his testimony was the key. His statement seems to have been bought. Is their mom on board with perjury?

Y&R opinion: Should Kyle reunite with Summer?
Sharon is thrilled when Mariah and Tessa bring the baby by Crimson Lights.
They ask how she’s doing since the Cameron incident.
They talk about how Faith is trying to push through it. Sharon says her daughters are warriors and recalls when Mariah was kidnapped too.
Sharon is feeling strong and looking forward. She even has a new company. Mariah wonders how she, Nick and Adam haven’t killed each other yet.
Her mom explains that they’ve worked together in the past but not as a trio. They will figure it out and they all bring unique skills. Tessa thinks she’s an inspirational boss lady.
Sharon is confident they will do positive things. She asks Mariah if she would consider coming to work with her.
This startles Mariah, who points out she was planning to go back to Jabot full-time.
Her mom knows but would she consider becoming the head of marketing? They need someone who will think out of the box. She understands image-building better than anyone Sharon can think of.
Tessa thinks it could be an amazing opportunity. Sharon asks if she’s happy at Jabot.
Mariah loves it there but things are shaky and there’s some kind of power struggle going on. It seems like things could get more unstable.
She respects Jack but Kyle’s the one who drew her there and now he’s gone.
Sharon suggests she could use a change and offers to talk to Jack for her. Tessa tells her wife about the dangers of being caught in a family feud and asks her what she really wants.
The mother and daughter stare at each other. Mariah offers to think this over and her mom promises to at least pretend to understand if she says no. Her daughter is happy that she is healing after her ordeal. They hug.
Once Sharon leaves, the wives weigh Mariah’s options. Jabot may be in trouble but it’s been around forever while this new company could be a disaster. Who knows what could happen to Adam? But how stressful could things get at Jabot?
Taking her hand, Tessa says she has to trust her judgment about what will give her success and happiness.
It would fill up Mariah’s heart to ride along with her mom on this.
Tessa would love that for her and knows she doesn’t back away from a challenge.
Jabot’s nice but it’s just a job. This would be building something.
This would be a great opportunity. They kiss.
Nick and Adam are at Society venting about their father taking control again.
Nick assumes he pissed Victor off again and that’s ruined things for everyone.
“It’s about us and our plans for the new company,” Adam insists but Nick thinks this is another test from their father.
His brother argues that they don’t wait for a sign from their father but call his bluff and do what’s right for the business now.
Nick argues with him about settling old scores and pretending it’s just business.
He won’t stand by all this “Newman Media foolishness” and thinks they should concentrate on showing the world that they mean business. They need to get everyone talking.
He also tells him to change the name from Adustus. “The Gleeful Threesome? The Three Stooges?” Adam taunts.
His brother tells him he needs to let go of all the rejection and pain and move on instead of getting revenge on their sister. They could both benefit from breaking free.
Sharon joins them and Adam admits Adustus came from a dark place. That doesn’t mean his ideas aren’t sound.
She suggests they look at their new company as a reinvention oriented to a positive future.
Adam reminds them that they are always trying to get him to change course and it always fails. Do they really think they can make him change?
Sharon says he likes to act irredeemable but they know better. Adam caves and agrees to drop the chip off his shoulder. Forget about Victoria and Victor’s mind games.
He adds that he made a move without consulting them and offered Phyllis the job of head of IT. Nick is not happy and reminds his brother that Phyllis broke his daughter’s heart and could probably wind up in prison.
Phyllis calls and accepts Adam’s job offer but needs his help with something first.
