Burgi has portrayed several characters in soap and is well known for his role as Chad Rolo on Another World, Karl Mayer on Desperate Housewives, and more recently as Paul Hornsby on General Hospital, to name just a few.

Burgi was on Seinfeld episode, “The Hamptons.” This is when the Seinfeld group of friends went to see Michael and Carol’s baby in the Hamptons. Richard Burgi plays the baby’s pediatrician, Ben. Elayne’s (Julie Louis Dreyfus) hot for Ben and he seems to find her attractive as well. He calls her “breathtaking” and also calls the baby, who the group likens to Lyndon Johnson or a Pekinese “breathtaking.” This of course, startles Elayne, making her wonder if he’s lying about how he sees her or the child. The actor revealed to Soap Opera Digest that his family is very musical. In fact, when he was a child, Joe Walsh from The Eagles used to hang out at his house to jam.

Burgi admits he doesn’t know how his name came up for the opportunity to play Ashland Locke on Young and the Restless. When he learned about the opportunity he said, “That sounds awesome. I didn’t have to travel. I didn’t have to quarantine.” He says, “I don’t have a problem playing a cliche.” (Ashland is older than Tara.) He teased, “The last script I read, Kyle has come back to confront me. I hope he doesn’t hit me because he’s a pretty strong guy.” He did a scene with Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Newman) and wondered if it was because they were planting some seeds…

About the soap stars he’s worked with on Young and the Restless, Burgi admitted that he’d already acted alongside Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott) when Thompson was portraying Dr. Patrick Drake on General Hospital. He’d also met Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) somewhere else – “perhaps at a press junket,” he said, sharing that “Peter was just a lovely guy when I met him.” About Eric Braeden, he confessed that he’d watched him on the show as Victor Newman and has such respect for him. “He’s such a goofball. A real sweetheart.”
