A few highlights of Young and the Restless that amused, intrigued or annoyed…
Sharon & Rey's fightSharon and Rey are back to fighting this week about the old standby — Adam. It's literally all this couple gets to do. It's boring. It's played out. They don't share many scenes as it is and when they do, Rey's serious and possessive. It's not an attractive look. Let Rey smile. If Sharon wanted to be with Adam, she could have many times over. Rey would be a lot happier if he reeled in his mistrust and either ignored or accepted that his wife is always going to defend Adam. There's nothing in their marriage vows that said she can't defend people that Rey dislikes. Even ex-lovers. It doesn't mean she's going to leave him.
Chance is dead?Christine told Abby that the building they thought Chance was in was bombed and that there were no survivors. In fact, the building was flattened. They just happened by a photo of Chance's ring which was engraved to him from Nina with his real name on it. I don't remember Chance being a complete moron but apparently he is. He risked his own life to wear a piece of metal, knowing that he could be murdered because of it, while his wife and baby were at home waiting for him.
I'm not a fan of this storyline as it is but this takes the cake. I was glad that Devon is pissed off at Chance, too.

I saw a photo on Amelia Heinle's Instagram that shows balloons and a 'Welcome back Chance' banner. It shouldn't be a surprise to any Y&R fan since the show rarely kills off anyone, especially a legacy character. Despite what the last actor said who vacated the role, it is likely that a recast has been found.
I'm not a fan of this storyline as it is but this takes the cake. I was glad that Devon is pissed off at Chance, too.

The honeymoonI'm still on the fence about whether or not Ashland is even sick with cancer or if he's pulling the wool over everyone's eyes. I don't care either way. I just want more drama from this story than we've gotten. We were told that Ashland was this worthy opponent of Victor Newman's yet Ashland's more of a pussycat. Don't even get me started on that Gaines story which nobody cared about from 40 years ago that happened off canvas.
Just as Victoria starts giving him sneak peeks into their honeymoon, we're wondering if it's even going to happen now that we've learned that Ashland's chemotherapy isn't working. Does that mean they'll kill him off or is he really not sick? At this point, I just want this story to end and for a new one to begin. Storylines shouldn't drag on over the summer into the fall. Noah's Secret?I like nu-Noah. He's eye candy at a glance, he fits the role, he's a mess on the outside and hopefully on the inside. He's supposedly hiding something but you have to strain yourself to really see it because of the classic current Y&R writing style. In fact, if Sharon didn't ask him each time they saw one another what he's not telling her, I never would have considered there was a secret.
It could be that his secret is that he was fired from his job or that he's depressed that his girlfriend left him? Surely it can't be something dramatic because...Y&R.

Phyllis & Nick splitPhyllis and Nick have had these completely contrived arguments that they've had since I've been watching the show, I think. She hates his family, he has a love-hate relationship with his family. Loves them, hates what they do. He doesn't want Phyllis to say a word against his family, but she can't help herself. Even when she's not really bashing them but stating facts, Nick sulks and makes mountains out of molehills. They could use therapy but I don't see this as being enough to cause a break-up. Victor and Nikki could help these two since they seem to have gotten their own unusual relationship on track.
It seems to me the show is grasping at straws just to break up this couple to what — put her with Jack? Seriously? Nick and Phyllis are empty-nesters (Christian who?!). He's going through something. But these two have fun. They're not rearing kids anymore. They're playing video games and having sex. Sounds good to me. But no...we can't have nice things. So these two seem to be headed toward splitsville so Smiling Jack can start smiling again. Does this mean Rey and Sharon will break up and Nick and Sharon will try again? And then after they're together, will he fawn after Phyllis and cheat on Sharon again?
Can we be spared this rehashing of history for something new?

Tessa & Mariah kissI complain about the lack of storyline, the loving hugs, caresses, kisses and bedroom scenes between Mariah and Tessa a lot. Mariah and Tessa need to be treated like all of the other couples on the show. CBS/Sony is so frightened that their viewers will revolt if they see a kiss but they don't seem to get that there are so many more viewers out there who don't get to see this, who have almost no lesbians to watch. Can you imagine watching just straight people make out? It doesn't appeal to everyone. So when I saw these two get three or four kisses in one episode, I was happy, but pissed off that it happened on Spirit Day. Don't bait the fans and don't trot out your lesbians once a year to show you are an ally. Do it consistently.
Sally & Adam kissChemistry is subjective. That said, I do see chemistry between Sally and Adam. If the show isn't going to put him with Sharon, and you know they won't, then I'm good with Salad or Ally. The only issue is that he's her boss and it's not okay for a boss to date their subordinate. Can anyone spell sexual harassment case? This is 2021, just in case Y&R wasn't aware.
Bill eavesdropsI love this picture of Billy. Billy can amuse me, he can irritate me and sometimes I question how the hell Lily puts up with him. I've been harassed by people who don't get this. Let me explain a few things...It's a soap opera. I would never date any character in any of our soaps. I still like Billy, probably more than most, but I still wouldn't date him! He's obsessive, has an addictive personality and would drive me insane. But...he's our Billy and I for one, find his eavesdropping amusing and entertaining. Never change too much, Billy.
Lauren criesThere's no crying in business! I'm kidding, of course. Sure there is but I would be a liar if I didn't admit that though I love me some Lauren, I was disappointed by her behaviour regarding Victoria's decision to use Sally's wedding gown creation rather than hers.
