In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Victoria learns she didn’t cause the accident, Kyle opens up to Mariah, and Victor orders Diane to get out of town. In the previous episode, Diane was shocked when Victor broke into her suite after a gut-wrenching talk with Kyle.

Diane finds Victor in her suite at the Grand Phoenix. She’s been expecting him, sure Nikki ran straight to him after their encounter. She’s surprised it took him so long to show up.
“I’m as fast as I’ve always been,” he assures her, hoping her visit to Genoa City will be a short one. She accuses him of threatening helpless women. Victor says she’s venomous and potentially evil.
Diane wishes he’d relax. She wasn’t expecting a welcome home party but assumes people will tolerate her if she sticks around. He thinks her claims to change are a “bunch of bull.”
“Only Newmans are allowed to change?” she asks, reminding him of how much Nikki and Adam have changed. Victor claims they evolved.
She’s not expecting anything and tells him to keep his threats to himself. Diane has only come back to explain herself to her son and ask for his forgiveness.
When she tells him that she had a positive first conversation with Kyle thanks to Jack, Victor tells her she is delusional if she thinks she is going to bring anyone peace and happiness.
“Get your behind on a bus and get out of town,” he says as he heads for the door, reminding her of what he is capable of. It’s a lot more than sneaking into her hotel suite.
Mariah is startled to bump into Kyle at Society. She invites herself to join him, eager to catch up. After she teases him about Summer, he explains that this is strictly a father and son trip.
Kyle is vague about why he is there and how long he will stay. She hopes he will still be there when her wedding happens. He didn’t even know they set a date.
They discuss Rey dying and how devastated Lola has been. Mariah is in shock but mostly worried for her mom. Planning the wedding at least seems to bring her joy.
He mistakenly thinks she’s asking him to be her man of honor. She actually has something more important in mind for him and asks if he would officiate the wedding.
He’s honored but isn’t sure he can. There are some things he’s dealing with and he’s not sure he can commit. She wonders what’s up and hopes he knows he can count on her.
Kyle admits that he’s in shock but doesn’t want to discuss it in public.
When Kyle and Mariah get to the Abbott house, he informs her that his mom is alive and back in Genoa City. She faked her death and rebuilt her life. Now she wants to make amends.
Mariah’s mouth hangs open. He explains his mom claims she only wanted to protect him. She thinks this is messed up.
Kyle wonders if it’s possible for someone to change. She hopes so, but he needs answers not explanations. It’s a lot to ask.
He’s drinking in the afternoon and doesn’t know which way is up. His instinct is to welcome her back into his life. She can understand that.
Kyle knows fairy tales aren’t real but this is all he wished for as a kid. Mariah thinks he’s setting himself up to be hurt. Why would be let Diane anywhere near Summer or Harrison?
As they lounge in their hotel bed, Sally and Adam muse on why it’s so hot to have sex in the afternoon. She wonders if they are becoming a couple now that they have agreed they are falling for each other.
She insists that all of her earlier claims that she was keeping her private and professional lives separate were real. All along, she was most worried about losing her chance at what she really wanted: him.
He suggests they get back to the office. Before they can get dressed, she wants to know what happened with Sharon.
Sighing, Adam says it was hard. She’s in a lot of pain and it’s very raw. Sharon is struggling but he’s glad he saw her. He was the first person she let herself break down around.
As they get dressed, she tells him she’s glad he went to see Sharon. She will be there to listen to him if he needs it. She’s not jealous of Sharon or anyone else. In fact, she is pretty confident about their relationship.
That’s new for him. His relationships are usually obsessive and destructive. She just hopes he doesn’t feel guilty for being happy while Sharon is suffering. Adam says that if anything, seeing Sharon made him think they are taking things too slowly.
He thinks they should grab their chance together. She agrees. They kiss until he starts peeling off her clothes.

Allison Lanier recast as Summer
Billy is surprised to see Victoria at Crimson Lights. He’s happy to see her up and around and reassures her that what happened to Rey was not her fault.
She’s defensive when he asks what happened that night. He wonders if Ashland was following her.
When they sit down, she doesn’t want to talk about the accident and threatens to wack him with her cane if she needs to.
He wonders if she regrets feeling vulnerable around him. She regrets most of her conversations with him. For Billy, it felt good that she could confide in him. He asks if Locke is still in her life.
She admits that she and her husband are annulling their marriage. They haven’t really talked since the accident and this is none of his business.
Billy is sure she is conflicted, but Locke saving her life does not absolve him of his crimes. She knows she made a mistake and should have listened to those who voiced their concerns but the past is the past and she is moving forward.
As she gets up to leave, Lily arrives and hopes she’s feeling better.
“You can ask Billy about it. He seems to know everything,” Victoria snaps as she exits.
Lily and Billy head to the patio and he claims he was just showing concern for the mother of his children and inadvertently hit a nerve. He worries that this whole situation will affect Victoria’s judgment.
Lily is starting to worry that he has a tendency to try and save the women in his life from themselves. He assures her that he knows the women in his life are smarter and more capable than he is.
Billy is just concerned about Ashland, who he hates deeply. He and Victor may end up on the same side, doing anything necessary to get Ashland out of town. As long as he is around, he must be up to something bad.
Lily asks him to stop.
At the Newman-Locke offices, Victor tries calling Adam without luck. Nikki shows up, worrying about where their daughter is.
Victoria hobbles in and her mom wants to talk about Rey. Victoria does not want to discuss that.
Nikki explains that the autopsy shows he died of a heart attack. That’s what caused the accident. Victoria has to catch her breath.
She has to sit down and admits she’s relieved. Her mom assures her that’s natural. Victoria says that it will take some time to put it behind her. It was still a tragedy. Nikki has to go to a meeting so they can discuss this later.
Once she’s left with her father, Victor tells her they need to discuss Adam’s position in the company. She came to tell him he was no longer needed. Her father thinks that’s a mistake.
He can understand her desire to get back to work, but she has a lot on her plate and should run the company with Adam. She doesn’t want or need Adam in the mix. They will go back to their original name of Newman Enterprises.
Victor still wants to discuss Adam’s position. She refuses. It’s Adam or her.
The mustache thinks she’s being rash and her trauma is taking a toll on her. She needs time to process this. His daughter admits she was hurt but Locke is out of her life and it’s over.
Victor isn’t sure she has actually separated herself from Locke. She declares that she is finished with him second-guessing her emotions. If Adam stays, she’s gone.
As she heads for the door, she bumps into Adam. “What did I miss?” he asks. She leaves.
Victor tells his son they have a problem. Adam guesses his sister doesn’t want him around. His father says they will discuss that later. What’s urgent now is Diane being back in town.
Billy bumps into Ashland at the Grand Phoenix.
Up in her room, Diane calls Jack and says she did what she came to do. Although she is hopeful, there are no guarantees with Kyle so she is leaving for LA in the morning.
