Victor Asks If Adam’s Willing to Use Connor As a Bargaining Chip Against Chelsea

This is the Canadian Y&R day ahead recap from the Tuesday, July 6, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Wednesday, July 7. In the previous episode, Chelsea recorded Dr. Hedges’ confession, and in this episode, Victor comes up with a plan, Billy stalks Victoria and gives Ashland an offer on Locke Communications, and Devon’s party gets interesting.

At Society, Billy and Lily sit with Nate. Billy asks for his professional opinion on a friend who is having a hard time catching his breath. Nate says it could be allergies or a common cold. Billy says an oncologist is involved. Nate feels tricked into helping them with a story. Lily lies that they’re trying to help a colleague. Billy asks how concerned they should be. Nate says again that it could be allergies, pneumonia, bronchitis. Billy asks, “Lung cancer?” Nate says yes but they don’t often appear until it’s spread. Hypothetically, your colleague would be talking with an oncologist. Nate says he’s off to Devon’s for drinks. “Excuse me? I feel left out,” Lily jokes. She’s happy they’re on good terms. He goes and Billy has something he needs to take care of. Lily tells Billy she knows what he’s up to and he has her support.

In his room, Ashland feels selfish that Victoria is spending time with him when he has so little time left. But she makes him feel invincible. Victoria says she gets to watch the most dynamic men of their time doing what he does best. She brings up treatments but he doesn’t want to waste time doing those when he could be with her. He’s not sounding like a potential business partner. He thinks that’s good. He is sounding like he’s involved with her. “Is that what we are? Involved?” He needs to know she accepts his decision. He accepts this and needs to secure the only legacy he has and the only heir he has which is Harrison. Victoria says their deal would do that. Ash knows he’s not really Harrison’s father. He can’t see Kyle talking much about him after he’s gone. Victoria assumes he likes how motherly she is. “Among other things,” he admits. She again asks him to consider treatment. “It’ll give you more time with your son.” Again, Ash tells her no. He wants her in his life on his terms. She accepts it.

At home, Victor gets rid of Dr. Hedges. He’ll follow up with him later. Once he’s gone, Victor says this has nothing to do with Chelsea. Adam won’t buy that. Victor finally says he won’t keep this from him any longer. “I offered Chelsea a chance to avoid prison time.” Adam’s confused. It seems beyond his powers. “I had her agree to a confession of poising Rey and I had her agree to spend time in a psych ward and I had Michael enter an insanity plea.” Adam is shocked. How did she go along with this? The Mustache says he promised her a short time in the ward. Adam asks if she’s been faking this whole time to be insane. “I wouldn’t go that far.” Victor recounts everything that went down. She’s not well but has a sense of self-preservation. Adam can see Hedges was paid off. Chelsea pretended not to be able to move in that chair. “She’s angry and resentful,” Adam says but he’s not sure she’s crazy. Victor disagrees. Adam wishes he’d have told him what he did. Victor argues that it wouldn’t have changed anything. Adam wants Chelsea out of there and blames himself. He thinks it’s making her worse to be locked up. Hedges returns and Adam asks for the truth about Chelsea’s condition. Victor says he knows everything. She has legitimate mental issues but her skills as a con artist are intact. He shares about Chelsea recording him confessing to being on the take. She wants out. His career is at stake. Victor says if she used the recordings, she’d be in prison. He tells the man not to screw this up again. Hedges goes and Adam begs to get Chelsea out. Vic calls this his guilt talking. He says they need a bargaining chip. Connor is their ace in the hole. He asks Adam to use it.

In the lobby of Grand Phoenix. Billy sees Victoria. He thought she’d spend the night. She tells him it would have given him more fodder for his little gossip blog. He asks how Ash is and whether or not the rumors of his illness are true. She asks if he should be running his company rather than stalking. He says he knows Ash has cancer and lies that he knows someone who overheard a conversation between him and his oncologist. She gets snarky and Billy says he must be right. He asks how long Ash has. Victoria calls this beneath him. She goes and Billy heads upstairs. He goes to Ashland’s room and starts getting into his personal business with his illness and says he wants to buy his company. Ash reminds him he couldn’t afford Cyaxares. Chancellor Industries can, Billy points out. He’ll make him a generous offer. Ashland pokes fun at his being a gambler and thinks this is no different. Billy doesn’t deny it. Ash says to write down his offer and if he’s interested, he’ll call tomorrow. If he doesn’t hear by the end of the day, he’s disinterested. Billy does as he’s asked and sincerely hopes he’s wrong about his prognosis. He goes and later, Locke looks at the note.
