In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Jack’s siblings worry about him taking Phyllis on his trip, Nikki is concerned about Ashland’s new title, and Victor tells his sons all about Locke’s deception. In the previous episode, Devon disappointed Lily and Jack mourned Keemo.

At the Abbott estate, Billy joins his sister and Phyllis. Jack called them all there. The rest of the family was unavailable. Billy isn’t sure why Phyllis is there. She claims she’s there to support Jack.
Jack tells them that he has received a series of odd text messages asking him to go to a house in Las Angeles. With Phyllis’ help, he learned these came from a house owned by his son’s grandfather and that Keemo is dead.
He admits he hasn’t heard from him in years. Keemo cut him out of his life because he felt betrayed and turned his back on him.
This has all been a shock. He’s going to Los Angeles and has no idea what he’s walking into. For his son’s sake, he has to follow this wherever it leads.
Billy wants to go to LA with him. He knows the kind of pain he is in and can shut your brain down. Traci nods. Jack tells them he needs to do this alone. Traci agrees with Billy and now is the time to rely on the family. He needs to let them all in.
Phyllis declares that they should all go. He’s always been there for them and now it’s their turn. His sister is determined to be by his side. Jack doesn’t want his losses to compound theirs.
Billy doesn’t want him going anywhere alone. Relenting, Jack agrees to let Phyllis accompany him. His brother objects but Jack insists that this is what’s best.
When Jack leaves to get packed, Phyllis assures his siblings that she is the right person for this.
Traci worries about how fragile her brother is and how unstable his relationship with Phyllis is. The redhead assures her she will take care of him and exits.
Traci and Billy are sure their brother has been devastated by the secrets he’s been keeping. She can’t believe she never noticed and tried to coax the truth out of him. When Keemo’s death hits, it will hit hard.
Billy worries about the cryptic text messages. “They are very mysterious,” says Traci. This is not good. She thinks Phyllis is pushing their brother too much. Billy is sure trouble will follow Phyllis.
After Traci leaves to get Jack food for his trip, Jack comes down the stairs with his suitcase. Billy asks if he’s sure about this. Jack doesn’t have a choice. There is too much he doesn’t know about his son and how he lived. He needs some kind of closure.
Billy doesn’t think closure comes with the death of a child. He understands he needs answers and hopes he finds them. What you imagine can often be worse than the truth.
If he needs him, he will be on the next flight. Billy urges his brother to make sure Phyllis has his best interests at heart. Jack is confident she has his back.
Traci hunts Phyllis down at The Grand Phoenix. Phyllis is surprised when she says that she’s grateful that she’s going with Jack.
Traci is just worried that Jack could crumble and he needs his emotional reserves for what he will face. She can understand why he doesn’t want to have to worry about her falling apart too. “Protect his big heart,” Traci begs.
Traci and Phyllis return to the Abbott estate. She hands her brother some fruit so he can maintain his strength.
Phyllis promises to keep the family updated. Billy tells his brother to be on his guard. If Jack doesn’t get closure, he says, at least he will find out more about the man his son became.

As she gets tea at Crimson Lights, Nikki flashes back to Victor warning her about Ashland’s possible deception. Victoria pops up and snaps her out of it. Her mom asks how Ashland is doing and Victoria insists everything is great. Nikki continues to look worried.
At Newman, Ashland sneaks into Victoria’s office while on his phone. His man in Peru tells him that Michael Baldwin has been asking questions. Ashland orders him to “find that doctor now.”
When Victoria arrives, he shows her the paperwork the lawyers have drafted to make him co-CEO of Newman-Locke. He tells her every second of life matters and they can’t waste any time.
She says the contract doesn’t change anything; they are already equal partners. Maybe, but he’s eager to sign the paperwork immediately. She seems reluctant so he worries that she’s changed her mind.
She says she hasn’t. He just wants her to feel comfortable and assures her their relationship is the most important thing to him. If she wants to leave things as they are, that’s fine.
She says he should be more than just her advisor. He should be his equal, just as he is in their life together. It’s time they make him co-CEO.
Nikki arrives and is surprised to hear that Ashland is now going to be co-CEO. She thought he was happy to be an advisor. They explain that was before his recovery.
He’s determined to show his strong hand at the company and to have the respect of the employees. Nikki is skeptical but her daughter is adamant. Victor never told his wife anything about this. Her daughter didn’t think it was necessary to tell him.
Nikki continues to push her to let Victor know what she is planning. She owes him that much. Locke listens and grimaces. His mother-in-law hopes he’s not offended by this. He insists he wouldn’t want to make such an important change without the blessing of all the Newmans.
Nikki thinks that would be very wise. He tells her this is a way to avert a crisis and exits.
Victoria senses her mother is troubled. Nikki is tired but fine. She repeats she needs to speak to her father about the title change. If Victoria doesn’t speak to him, she will.
Ashland sends a text: “Need an update. Have you located the doctor? And where the hell is Michael Baldwin?” He gets a call from Dr. Riley. Ashland confirms that he has not given anyone permission to look at his records and won’t.
In Adam’s office, he’s eager to get some answers from his father about what’s going on with Ashland. Victor stays quiet until Nick joins them.
Their father announces that he has some news that will have an impact on the family and the empire. They need to protect Victoria.
Nick is baffled. His father explains that Michael is looking for confirmation of his suspicions of Locke in Peru. Nick doesn’t want anything to do with this. The last time he dug into Ashland’s past, it hurt his relationship with his sister. That’s not a risk he wants to take again.
Victor says he hasn’t trusted Locke all along and asks them to listen. He’s learned new things that will affect the entire family. “Things more repulsive than anything you ever learned about him,” he says.
Victor informs his sons that Ashland has been funneling money into Peru for years using a shell company. Michael Baldwin talked to people at the clinic where he was supposedly cured.
They explained that Locke went to them to falsify his medical records. This bewilders his sons. Nick wonders if Ashland is still dying. “The point is that Ashland Locke was never sick at all,” Victor says.
He explains that he got corroborating evidence from several physicians. Nick is still confused. This deception has been going on for some time and involves numerous other doctors in the States.
Victor doesn’t think Nate had anything to do with it. Adam asks what’s next. His father says he has enough evidence to deal with Ashland and he will.
Adam still doesn’t understand the point of this convoluted deception. His father says it is a long con with a bad endgame. He’s after power and control over two business empires. Victor has always had doubts about him. “I’m gonna kill him,” Nick mutters.
Victor feels the way they do. Ashland has infiltrated the family and threatened the empire he spent decades building. Nick doesn’t care about the empire; he’s worried about his sister. Victor tells them he will handle this his way.
