The Canadian Y&R day ahead recap from the Monday, August 9, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Tuesday, August 10. In the previous episode, Ashland and Victoria announce they’re engaged to her parents. In this episode, Victor offers to plan the wedding, Phyllis worries about Jack losing Harrison, and Ashland starts chemo tomorrow.
At Grand Phoenix, Nick asks Phyllis how she feels about their kid leaving GC. Phyllis says Summer had so many plans for the future here. She doesn’t get why she won’t come home. Nick calls her young and adventurous. Phyllis can’t forget that she was forced out. Nick says she saved their kid and gave her the strength back to make her own decisions. “And she’s doing that.” Phyllis perks up a little. She did that and admits she saw Lauren fire Sally. She called Summer to tell her she had her job back but Sum Sum wants to stay in Milan. Nick’s sorry this is so hard on her. Phyllis can’t imagine how Jack feels. He had a dream to run Jabot with Kyle. Nick reminds her he’s working from Milan. She has to let Jack work that out for himself. “Jack’s a big boy. You don’t have to appoint yourself champion.” She starts to cry. She feels bad for him. His mom died, his nephew was suing him, and if Harrison goes to Italy, “Jack will be lost.”

Jack tells Harrison at home that his dad’s back in town and he’d like to visit. Harrison likes that. They agree to play some catch. He goes off to get his ball and mitt and Jack grins wildly.

At the ranch, Ash tells Victor and Nikki they’re planning a splashy wedding to make up for lost time, for not meeting each other, and for not being able to have a long future. Victoria tells them Ash is taking treatment. Nikki comments that he rejected that. He wants to spend as much time with Victoria as he can. Victor is glad they found each other. He’s been waiting for a long time for her to find a man who is worthy of her. Nikki’s obviously shocked at his kind words. They leave and Nick arrives to tell his mother about what’s been going down with Kyle and Summer. She’s glad they’re together, knowing they were miserable without each other. They’re not sure about what will happen to Harrison because he doesn’t have custodial rights. He’ll have to negotiate with Ashland. Nikki reveals his sister has big news, but she’ll allow her to tell him. They talk about Phyllis wanting to be close to Summer. They discuss grandkids one day. Nikki jokes that she’s not sure she’s ready for that. “It’s hard to see you as a grandfather.” Nick laughs. “And that would make you —” She interjects. “No. Don’t say it!” He takes off to see Christian.

At home, Ashland is basking in the glow of all those compliments from her father. “Bask away,” she says with a grin. She’s shocked at his reaction since it’s not atypical. “He can turn on a dime,” she warns. He’s so deeply in love, which is why he thinks Victor approves of him. Later, Ashland says the oncologist contacted him. Tomorrow’s his first treatment. She remembers being cranky after her stabbing and says if he gets irritable, she’ll chalk it up to karma. He jokes that she can send him to Victor’s to convalesce. She snorts and reminds him about how her dad behaved during his heart attack. He’s off to see his son and Victoria offers to come. He thanks her but goes alone.

Victor greets Adam at the office. He’s told about an interesting tip from the New York real estate market. Ashland sold his properties and has already had offers. Adam hopes Victoria knows what she is getting involved in. Victor asks his son not to worry. He’ll be around awhile. He has something to live for and is getting new, experimental treatment. Adam wonders if he’ll want to run the new company himself. Victor thinks he’s putting “the cart before the horse” on that one. Adam wasn’t serious. Chloe interrupts. She wants his take on something. He reminds her he told her she has free rein. She has a mock up of what she’s proposing for their website. She begs him to take a look and when he does, he finds it clever. He’s impressed. Victor doesn’t want to see. “Mm-mmm,” he mutters. Chloe heads out and Victor asks what this mystifying attitude he has for this woman. For all they know, she was in on Chelsea’s plan to frame Adam. Adam shrugs it off. Victor calls her dangerous. Adam says this is a strategic move. He will hire Chelsea once she’s ready and his focus is still on turning Newman Media into a powerhouse and taking advantage of their competitors’ weaknesses. Victor once again reminds his son Newman-Locke is off the table. He wants Adam to mend fences with his sister. Adam says that’ll be rough. Victor expects him and Nick to be supportive of her. “Understood,” says Adam.

In the park, Jack and Harrison play catch. He thinks the tyke is good at trying new things. It’s important not to forget your old friends back east or in Genoa City. Jack says wherever he moves, he’ll never forget him or stop loving him. He’ll visit him as often as he can if he moves away. They head home since Ashland’s on the way to visit.
Phyllis overhears Sally bitching on a call to someone about not having friends and how Phyllis is out to get her. She apologizes and disconnects and Phyllis taunts her about being jobless. Nearby, Chloe arrives to see Kevin. She tells him about how easy Adam has been as a boss. It’s creepy. Kevin thinks it has something to do with Chelsea. She sees Sally and points her out. Phyllis jumps in and tells them to avoid her. She’s returning the favor for him asking her to stay out of his mother’s blackmail scheme. “If you don’t believe me, just ask Lauren,” she says cryptically. Chloe wants to introduce herself but Kevin stops her. She reminds him Phyllis is all about drama. Kevin goes and she heads to introduce herself to Sally. She says she’s a fan of her work. Sally worries she’s there to give her a hard time. Chloe says no, and discusses designing and teaming up with Chelsea. Sally has heard of her. Chloe knows her friend is resilient. Sally smiles. They sound like good friends. Chloe thinks everyone deserves a second chance. Sally couldn’t agree more. They discuss her athletic line for Forrester and she congratulates her on her new role at JVC. They talk about her knowing Lauren and Chloe says her new platform is looking for content. Maybe they can help each other out. Sally’s into that.
Ash visits Harrison at the manse. They discuss him staying overnight. Harrison likes that. Jack interrupts and says Mrs. Martinez has cookies waiting. They say I love yous and Harry runs off. Ash thanks Jack — he wanted a moment. He says he’s starting chemo tomorrow at Memorial. Jack wishes him luck. Ash asks him to keep Harrison until he sees how he tolerates treatment. Jack says that is no problem at all. Ash is grateful and says they’ll talk to Kyle when he returns about visitation. Jack tells him Kyle’s not returning. He explains that Summer and Kyle would love to have Harrison with them in Milan if he allows it. Ash is surprised since Summer said the opposite. Jack clarifies that Tara forced her to lie. When Phyllis arrives, she and Ashland are awkward. He heard she had a hand in uncovering Tara’s plot. “Someone had to do it,” he says before he goes. Jack asks why she’s there. “I need a friend,” she admits.
At Victoria’s house, Victor asks if she’s still fine with being engaged with Ashland. Victoria’s surprised by his question. Victor knows that Ash’s illness will be a difficult challenge for her. He meant what he said about Ash and says she is like her mother. She loves deeply and is setting herself up for potential heartache. Victoria will be alright. She doesn’t want to lose Ash. If she does, she’ll be devastated but at least she’ll have no regrets. She’s never been in love like this. Victor says, “Okay.” He asks if he can plan her wedding with Nikki. “My daughter,” he says. “I adore you.” She doesn’t know what to say. She tears up and he touts her work as CEO and the merger and seeing Ash through the most difficult time of his life. She has enough on her plate. She agrees.
Kevin visits Adam at work. “Let’s get something straight,” he says. Adam checks his calendar. “Nope,” he says, “We have no meeting.” Kevin says he tried to stay out of this but, “You’re being too nice to my wife!” Neither of them buy this reformed act. Adam understands. If it’s giving him this anxiety, maybe Chloe should work elsewhere. Kevin’s putting him on notice. “If Chloe’s caught in the crossfire, there will be hell to pay.” Adam says it’s noted and he admires his devotion. Adam’s had enough and so Kevin finally goes after a few more potshots.
