This is the Y&R day ahead recap from the Wednesday, April 7, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Thursday, April 8. On today’s episode, Sharon blames herself for Rey’s poisoning, Lauren has a meeting with Summer about Sally, and Nick asks what’s going on between Phyllis and Summer.
At the lake, Sharon wonders to Adam if she’s the reason Rey almost died because Chelsea saw the kiss and it spurred her revenge. Adam won’t let her take responsibility. Sharon says that kiss didn’t help. “I shouldn’t have let it go on.” Adam says, “We were both caught up in the moment.” He’s the one who initiated it. Sharon needs to go to Faith. Adam’s glad she’s doing well and thanks Sharon for not turning her back on him. She asks him to turn himself in so they can find out the truth the right way. He can’t. Chelsea is too good of a con woman. She needs to slip up on her own.

At the club, Nick wants to plan a lunch with his three favorite girls. Phyllis suggests they wait until Faith’s up for it but Nick says it’s more for Summer. He wants to know what’s going on with his kid. Phyllis says she’s trying to eliminate Sally and thought it was a good idea to get Lauren to offer Sally a job in L.A. She explains the convoluted mess of Lauren blaming Summer for this. Nick thinks Phyllis needs to stop meddling but she wants to protect the people she loves. Nick asks her to let it go. Nick admits he thinks Adam has reached out to Adam and she’s keeping it from him. Phyllis smirks. “Look who is protecting his ex.” Nicholas argues that Faith is still a kid.
At Jabot, Summer asks for details about Ashland’s call. Kyle says he only did a 180 on the deal. Lauren appears for her meeting with Summer. Kyle goes and Lauren says she’s given Sally a chance to explain and now wants to know why Summer pretended she and Sally were on the same page and then dig up dirt on her? Summer calls it a defensive maneuver to keep her job. Lauren says the best way to do that was to do a job well. Summer apologizes. Lauren’s disappointed. She wanted to mentor them both.

At Crimson Lights, Sally is pressured into revealing what her secret is. “Okay, it’s not pretty,” she starts off. She tells him that Theo came into town with a secret of Kyle’s. Jack asks how long the blackmail has been going on. Sally says this was Kyle’s secret to tell, not hers. She had to do something to ward off the attacks from Summer. “She started this whole thing by going to L.A. to dig up dirt on me.” Jack looks confused. “What dirt?” Sally has done some things in her past that she regrets. He needs details. She says she’s guilty of loving someone far too much. She tells him about her commitment to Wyatt before his ex-girlfriend reappeared, “And I was out.” Then he came crawling back to her and they reunited. Then he went behind her back to be with Flo and left her for a second time. Jack feels bad. Wyatt had no right to jerk her around. Sally couldn’t take it. Something inside her snapped. She couldn’t bear the thought of losing him so she pretended she was dying to get him back. Jack’s rocked. She explains that she lost it and held Flo against her will so she could get to Wyatt. “We are talking about kidnapping,” Jack says, his mouth open. He understands that she was fighting abandonment the way her parents abandoned her growing up. She had an aching need to have love in her life. She asks if he understands. He thanks her for her honesty and thinks they need to slow things down. He leaves her almost in tears.

At Sharon’s, Michael and Rey talk about following all leads and coming up with a dead end. Rey thinks Adam’s close by. “I’d bet my badge on it.” Sharon arrives. Michael is happy to hear Faith’s coming home today. He knows what it’s like when a child struggles with substance abuse. He goes and Rey asks if she was with Faith. She lies that she was and Rey says, “No you weren’t.” She feels he’s interrogating her like a common criminal and doesn’t like that he talked to Nick about it. Rey knows she’s hiding something. Adam’s been in touch with her, hasn’t he? Sharon keeps up her lies. He can’t believe she’s forgiven him. “He tried to kill me!” Sharon blurts that Adam’s innocent. He did get in touch with her but he didn’t poison him. “It was Chelsea. All along!”

At Chelsea’s, she tells Chloe they need to set a trap of their own. They need to lead the police to Adam. Nick arrives and Chelsea jumps back into her chair. He’s sorry that she’s going through this. She thinks to herself that she’s not half as sorry as Adam will be. Nick would give anything to know what she’s thinking. Nick tells Chelsea that Adam saved Faith’s life. In her head, Chelsea yells, “No!” Nick says his brother risked himself to save Faith. He knows Adam deserves to go to jail but he also deserves his gratitude. In her head, Chelsea disagrees vehemently. She finally makes a noise in her throat and opens her mouth and whispers, “Sharon…knows.”
At Society, Lauren gathers Summer and Sally to discuss the dirt they have on each other. She says women need to support women, especially in the workplace. Their issues need to be brought in the open and dealt with in a forthright manner. Obviously admonished, they agree. Later, Phyllis arrives and the two women are gone. Phyllis rants about her daughter not being anything like Sally. Lauren says she dealt with them. Phyllis reminds Lauren of what she was like at their age. Lauren doesn’t need a refresher course in that. Phyllis says to remember that next time she decides to lecture her daughter. She takes off when Michael appears. He suggests they book themselves a couples massage. It’ll take a lot to get her mind off of Summer and Sally. She’d hate to lose them both.
At Jabot, Kyle tells Jack that Ashland canceled their deal to buy Cyaxares. Kyle thinks the only person he can talk to. Jack says not to call Tara. Jack brings up Summer and Sally’s situation and doesn’t like how it went down. When Kyle’s gone, Jack calls Ashland about backing out of the deal. He leaves a message, trying to work something out.
At the club, Summer tells Kyle about Lauren’s anger. Sally appears. They all agree to call a real truce. Phyllis eavesdrops and Summer says she’s never said a word about her secret. Sally agrees not to tell theirs. Kyle and Summer go and on her way out, Summer blames Phyllis for this whole mess.

Victor tells Amanda, “I warned you don’t look at Newman Enterprises and don’t look at me.”
Ashland sits with Victoria and Billy. He has a coin in his hand. “Heads the bid will go to Newman, tails it’ll go to Chance Comm.”
Rey lets himself into Adam’s room at the lake. He brandishes a gun but Adam’s gone. He yells, “Adam!”
