In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Adam and Sally have it out, Nick worries he’s off to prison, and Lily wants to resolve tension between her brother and Nate.
In the previous episode, Kevin proves Locke wasn’t driving his car the night he died, and Sharon helped Tessa make a big decision about her career.

Lily arrives at work and sees a present from Billy, with a card where he tells her he wants to make up for lost time. She calls and leaves a message that she’ll open the gift when he’s there.
Devon turns up and updates her about Amanda being in Virginia with her mom. They discuss one of the acts getting double booked.
Devon calls it a misunderstanding between him and Nate that’s resolved. Lily questions him and Devon admits Nate was angry and accused him of being threatened by him.
Lily wants it resolved but Devon says this is the second time he’s been lacking respect. Devon thinks Nate has great ideas but no business acumen. Things can’t go on like this.
At Billy’s condo, Chelsea eats popcorn and gets it all over the floor. Billy jokingly chastises her and tells her they should take this to a restaurant where someone could clean up after her.
She calls him fastidious and flicks some popcorn at him. “Sorry.” He smiles and says, “No you’re not.” He wants to maintain a professional atmosphere so she calls him “grandpa.”
He asks if she finds him so uptight, why does she want to work with him? She calls Podcast Billy fun.
Sally finds Chance at Crimson Lights. He’s just the man he wants to see. She asks when they can expect an update on the mysterious investigation of Ashland Locke.
He has no news for her so she talks about how Adam elevated her to CEO and then dumped her. Chance is sorry but thinks that he’ll live to regret it. They agree they’ve something in common with Adam.
She’s glad she didn’t have to take a bullet for him before she realized what he’s all about. Chance asks what she knows about their relationship.
She says he told her Chance was a badass undercover agent at one time.
She opens right up and talks about rejection and disrespecting herself by begging Adam to stay with her. Sally admits that Adam’s obsessed with Locke’s death and that he thinks Victor’s involved.
She doesn’t want to believe the gossip and wants the Locke era to come to an end for that family. Chance says nothing, which she thinks speaks volumes.
He goes and Adam appears. He finds that interesting. She asks how long he’s been eavesdropping.
He says long enough to hear her try to wheedle information out of his friend and do a terrible job of it. She’s not happy to be judged.
He’s thought about her request that he tell her the truth about his feelings in return for what she knows about Locke’s death.
If they’re going to trade secrets, he asks her to go first. She’s done with his games and just doesn’t give a damn. She takes off.

At the ranch, Victor updates the family with news about the video Chance showed him. They’re rocked that the cops could see Ashland wasn’t the one in his car, that it was a smoker.
Nick says all they need to do is run a DNA test on the cigarette. Nikki thinks it’ll come back to them. “To me,” Victor says. She snipes about someone on his staff being careless.
Nick has been worried this would happen and asks what they do. Hire a Crisis Firm?
He wants Michael Baldwin’s help but Victor says he’s working on something. He asked Sally Spectra to tamp down on the news about Locke’s death.
Nick thinks that will only worsen and wonders when his father will realize this.
Victor reminds him he did the same thing. And she knew it was the right thing to do. Nick thinks it’ll look bad for them if all of the other news outlets post articles.
It could make it look like they’re suppressing news since they’ve something to hide. Nick tries to get his sister on his side but she can’t handle the arguing and takes off to her room.
Victor is done with the discussion and takes off and Nick and Nikki worry Nick will go to prison. Nick asks her to talk to Michael about their legal options.
Nikki thinks they don’t need to break the story.
At Society, Victor gets a drink and Noah appears. He says last they spoke about his club, he realized that his grandpa knew Ashland Locke was dead but he didn’t say a thing.
Victor tells him he’s done things only to protect his family. If he has problems with it, he can come to him.
“You trust me, right?” Noah says, “With my life.” they bump fists and clink glasses.
Victoria finds Nate at the park and thanks him for the voicemail he left after the news about Ashland came out. She’s sorry she didn’t respond. He gets it.
She was in a bad place. Nate calls the man a bastard and she laughs and agrees. She wants to move on from that chapter of her life. He thinks it’s easier said than done.
She doesn’t want to talk about Locke so asks about how things are going with his job. He tells her it’s going swimmingly. She’s thought of him as the one that got away but thinks he’s happy working with family.
He calls it a double-edged sword. She gets that it’s complicated.
At Society, Chance runs into Adam and asks him to let this Locke story go. Adam ignores that and admits he saw him talking with Sally.
If they were working together, he might have had better luck. “I know what makes her tick and can help you find out if anything, what she knows. What do you say?” Adam calls his old friend a piece of work.
They’ll collaborate on nothing. He hates that Adam’s tried to manipulate Sally for information. Adam says Sally’s recovering but Chance says that’s no excuse.
Adam isn’t sure he’s cut out for long-term commitment. Chance tells him to get a life. Find a new path, a better direction. All he sees is him falling into old habits.
He had the potential for more. Adam takes a drink and says this is as good as it gets for him. “Have it your way,” Chance snaps before he leaves.
Victor meets Victoria in her office. She was upset last they spoke. She feels better after speaking with the kids. He hopes her brother feels the same. Vicky’s been worried about Nick.
He’s having issues processing what happened that night Locke died. He’s inherited Victor’s protective nature but she’s not sure there’s anything he can do. Victor thinks he needs to learn to relax.
Wait it out. Vic points out that’s never been his strong suit.
Sally arrives at her office and Nick tells her his family could be dragged through the mud if she touches the story. She eases his mind. Newman Media isn’t touching the story.
She’s fed up with people who get into other’s personal lives just to exploit them.
It’s sensationalist and she wants no part of it. Nick appreciates it but there are times when she’ll have to post stories that are an invasion of privacy.
She knows but about this, she wants to publish facts and move on. He’s surprised that she isn’t giving him pushback. They’re on the same page, “Which is very cool.”
She’s not willing to do a good job at his family’s expense.
